Mixin'

Tonight, Harp and I made breakfast burritos for dinner and we made and froze 18 more. I made the tortillas and grated cheese and chopped onions and potatoes and beat the eggs, but Harp cooked all the insides and made them all into burritos. This is Em helping me beat the eggs. =)

My Shirt

$24.99 at Motherhood, $2 at home. =D

2 Cute Things

2 cute things I forgot to blog... =) A few days ago, Em wanted to come down to the basement. So we came down and she went into the laundry room and took all the lint out of the thing in the dryer and threw it away. Then she helped me clean the lint out again when I did laundry on Thursday. =) What a cutie!

Harp said this morning Em got some yogurt on the bench. Or maybe he dripped it there, I don't remember. But Em went into the living room and grabbed a Kleenex and came back and wiped it up! How cool is that?

Eeeeeeeeek! =)

We went to the grocery store to get stuff to make bread, breakfast burritos, chocolate mousse, and chocolate chip cookies. Mmm. On the way home, we checked our mail and we got Em's flip flops!!!! =) She was SO excited. I told her the package was for her and she was so excited watching me open it and when I pulled out her shoes you shoulda seen the look on her face. Baby flip flops! Just what she always wanted! lol No I don't think it was exciting as a banana used to be, but she was very excited. And so was I. =)

I think eBay is so great! These were way better than the ones this year at Old Navy. These are actually leathery and not just thin ribbon and the soles seem more slip-proof if I remember the current shoes correctly... And for $2.50 less than they are in the store... I'm thrilled. =D

We painted our fingernails today. We usually only do toes but Em wanted more nail polish and we had already done our toes Thursday. So we did fingers. =) You can see 'em in the pic of her taking her temperature. She thinks that thermometer is really cool because it has buttons and it beeps. =) (And that is spaghetti sauce on her face.)

Hi =)

The weather is sad again today. I have sooo little energy. As of last night, there was only 1/6 of the apple pie remaining. This morning, I ate a good portion of what was left. I think I ate most of the whole pie. =)

Today, Em and I ran to Walmart to get some pasta sauce and parmesan cheese. I told her we'd get a kid cookie and she was really excited about it. We parked and I had her half unbuckled when I realized I didn't have the diaper bag (which has become my purse). So we had to go home. She was really sad that we were leaving and not going into the store and getting a cookie. She cried. =( I think (like me) she doesn't like plans to change. We went to Walmart yesterday and we didn't get her a cookie and she was fine with that, even when she asked for one and we said no.

I'm just sitting here staring at the computer now. So I guess I'll find something to do.

Chickie Update

Em's been fine temp-wise ever since Harp checked on her during her nap. She was still a little sleepy tonight and didn't eat as much as usual for dinner, but she still had quite a bit. We had a fun bath and then bed an hour and a half early. Harp woke her up one time he went upstairs so he took her temperature and it was 95.something two times. Kinda weird to be that low but who knows what her temp really is. At least she doesn't have a fever and isn't seeming to feel bad.

We watched The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe tonight. Harp bought it a couple weeks ago and we still hadn't watched it. =P I scrapbooked a little but didn't get a whole page done. Just worked on things on lots of different pages. I'm bad about that, but I was watching a movie so that's my excuse. =)

Harp's trying to get this wedding video rendering again. Something or other happened with the network connection and it sort of stalled the render. But hopefully it will just keep on going and we won't have to start it over again. I'm soooo ready for bed.

Sick Chickie

Our poor girl is sick! She has been acting so happy and sweet, but a little sleepy-lookin' and zoned out. For breakfast, she ate 1/2 cup of bluberries, a hard-boiled egg, and a whole wheat pancake. I was SO full after one pancake. She seemed totally fine then. And actually she seemed fine until I took her up for her nap at 10 (that was late, but we had all slept until 7:45). She wanted some more pancake and I just tore some off and gave it to her and I took her to our room to snuggle while she finished chewing her pancake. This girl never falls asleep outside of her crib unless she's completely exhausted (like if we spent all day at the zoo or something). She was asleep in my arms within seconds. I couldn't believe it!! I held my sleepin' girl for almost a half an hour and then decided to put her in her crib so I could blow my nose and not wake her up. =P Then I went to sleep too and got up when she did at 12:30. Such a long nap! That hasn't been typical for her for a long time. After her nap, she felt warm. She wanted to get in her baby swing and she was content in there for so long, just sucking her thumb and looking at me sitting in front of her. I thought it would be fun to all watch a movie together (it's Harp's 9x80 day) and I knew Em didn't feel so great and Harp said yeah so we got everything ready and waited a while for Harp but he was re-fixing the wedding video and he finally said just start without him. So we watched Jonah for a while and cuddled the whole time. She started looking really really sleepy (and I was actually having a hard time staying awake) so we paused it and I took her up for a nap. Harp wanted a hug first and he thought she was really hot. So we took her temp and it was 102.7. We used an ear thermometer and those aren't supposed to be accurate for babies (because of the way their ear canal is shaped, it doesn't hit in the right spot or something) but we got 102.7 two times in a row and then we got 103.5. I went up for Tylenol and Harp checked her bellybutton and back and feet and stuff. =P I think she was too tired to be amused, though. They were all over 100 except her feet. =P Anyway she's sleeping now. Harp went in and checked her temp and he said it's going down. I didn't ask what it was. Em's being so sweet and not at all cranky and I'm so impressed. She wanted to go out and play in the rain before I took her up this time. =P But she still fell asleep right away. Well I'm going to work on this graduation video (don't know if I mentioned it, but a photo thing for just 2 guys). The song the moms picked is some Steven Curtis Chapman song about saddling up your horses. You probably know it, but I didn't. I think Deanna's son is going to be really embarrassed, lol.

Coloring

We have entered a new era. Em knows where the crayons are. She does not know what is and isn't pretty with crayon on it. Ack!

4.27.2006

Mmmmmmmm

I made the apple pie tonight. Actually Harp cut up most of the apples, so he thinks he made the pie, lol. =) I made an extra-flaky crust and put a little extra cinnamon in the filling. Ohhhhh, it is so good. I am like the #1 fan of my Pillsbury cookbook. I want more pie, but that would mean more ice cream and my allergies have been not so great. I'm considering starting to take 24 hour Claritin every 12 hours. If I wasn't pregnant, I'd already be doing it. Wish Clint and Hannah were around to eat some of this pie. =P I'm gonna eat it all in like 2 days, I just know it.... =)

Scrapbookin'

Today Anna called and I asked if she wanted to come over, so she did and we scrapbooked a bunch. =) Here are some pages I did last week at craft night and today. The page with Em and my sister is supposed to have a 'from' on it but I was going to hand-write it and I can't find my black pen. So it's just not there. Anyway here ya go:

Ow

Today I got Em up from her nap and she said ow, that her leg hurt. I asked her how it hurt and she stuck it through the bars on her crib, like to say she had gotten it stuck. I said I was glad she got it out (one time she got it really stuck and it took both of us to get her out). And we went downstairs and played and had fun. Well then she was really tired because I guess the leg thing woke her up (she was only in there like 20 min or so) so we put her back down. She cried and cried so Harp went back up and got her after a bit and she told him her leg was ow. She couldn't even walk on it! She was totally limping all over the living room and crying and saying ow and signing help, help! Poor girl!! After a while, it was fine again. Harp thinks it really may have been growing pains because he used to have them really bad. I don't know what happened to my Chickie, but it makes me so sad that I couldn't help her! I'm glad she's better.

The Kite!

So we finished the kite and took it out today! We invited our neighbors, but Justin had to work until 7:30 and didn't get home until like 9 minutes before sunset. But Laurie came and brought Hayden and Alyssa. So that was fun to get to talk to her and Emily didn't get hurt by Hayden this time - just a little grass thrown on her. =P Harp flew the kite first because we thought it was going to be really hard. It's a traction kite, designed to pull you... =P But it was hardly windy at all so it was nice. Most of the time there wasn't enough wind to fly, but when there was, it was SO fun! I flew it a little bit and sometimes it did pull me forward. I don't think I'm gonna try to fly this thing if it's really windy!! =P After a while of no wind, Harp got his RC helicopter (that he bought new on eBay and got in the mail yesterday) and flew it until sundown.

Apple Pie, Coffee Please?

Okay the title won't make sense because it comes from a joke my dad used to tell. =) But I got stuff today to make apple pie and I really need some coffee or something because I'm wiped. I slept until 8 this morning. Well except for getting up for a half hour or so to make French toast and eat with Emmy. We both went back to bed. Anyway so I got my tags renewed and returned some CD's to the library. Realized we have a movie from Blockbuster that we got when Clint and Hannah were here. Whoops. =P But I had left it at home. Then we went to Walmart and got stuff for Pad Thai for dinner and apples for pie. Haha, Thai and pie. Anyway I don't know if I'm going to make the pie today because Em's sleeping and I really wanna sleep too. We were up way late last night trying to render Kevin Scherm's wedding video. We had to download Premiere Pro, convert the files (from Premiere 6.0 I think it is) and render on the laptop because we keep getting errors. Well it worked, but then we played it and the titles were bad. We didn't have the font I had used on this computer so it used something else and then the titles were too big and went off the screen... So Harp fixed it and rendered it last night. Now we need to do the same for the reception video. Anyway so I'm tired and not wanting to make pie and besides, I already ate two cookies just now and I don't want to make myself sick. Won't keep me from eating another cookie... =) I think I'm gonna sleep while Em is.

How do you like that?

The first amendment of the US Constitution says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." And they are using this to keep kids from wearing Christian shirts to school? I'm sorry but someone is on crack here and it ain't me.

4.25.2006

=D

I know you're all dying to know.... =) I won the shoes on eBay!!! =P Nobody else bid, hehe.

Comments & Stuff

Sometimes I don't check my email for days and there are comments that I don't notice until I do. =P Oops. Thanks for the pattern, Dana. =P I'll make Huber4 something cute. Don't you want another now that Annabelle is a super-big girl?! =) Julia, I haven't sewn with batiks before, but I have some for Emily's quilt. They are really pretty! And that site has tons of pretty stuff. I think all the batiks I got for Em's quilt came from a quilt shop in Breckenridge. I'll have to take pics and post them. =)

Today I got pulled over for expired tags. We just got them in Jan but the A's (as in Abbot) renew in February, so they are already expired. Oops. So I went home but then decided to drive to the Derby tag office and just get it done even though it wasn't really legal to drive... Well it was 4:40 and they close at 5 and they couldn't do it because Harp owns the car. So they needed his driver's license. He was at work late, but left when I called and told him and he got there one minute too late. Actually probably like 30 seconds too late. They kicked me out at 5. Can you believe it? And they knew exactly where he was because they kept asking me to call and check. What a bummer. But I got a power of attorney form and I can do it tomorrow without him.

Our calzones just beeped. Well actually the timer did. =) Would be kinda fun if your food beeped for you... Anyway, gonna go eat. Then work on the kite while H is at men's group.

Kite Flying

Here are the pics from flying kites that day. We have been working on making a 2.3 m^2 kite. It's coming along well, but we are pretty much only working on it at night together, so it's taking a while. It's going to be really fun to fly! I made Em a little kite too but I need to finish the edges. And maybe put a giraffe on it. =P No Harp says it doesn't need a giraffe, lol. Anyway Em would like to say something.

fmj

That's all she would like to say. =) Anyway so what's new? Em has started signing 'bird.' We had our first tornado warning yesterday and the sirens went off and everything. We had golfball-sized hail and some in Wichita was softball-sized and busted Harp's co-worker's windshield. Well Em's having fun without me so I'm going to go join her. =)

4.23.2006

Penne

Can you swallow a penne noodle whole? Em can. Dozens of them.

4.22.2006

Mmmm

Might I recommend the new Ben and Jerry's flavor Black & Tan. Tasty stuff. And if you happen to live near a Ben & Jerry's, April 25 is free cone day. Mmmmm!

Today, my husband asked ME to go to the fabric store. Can you believe this? I said YEAH! And we bolted out the door. =P He has a sudden interest in really enormous stunt kites. So we got some nylon and we spent the night making the pattern.

Tired. Gonna sleep. Bye!

Kites

When Em woke up from her nap, we went to Walmart to see how much a baby bike trailer was. Too much! But we got a really neat butterfly kite and took it and our $1 Transformers kite to High Park and had a fun time. =) Em flew the Transformers kite for a while but then she let go and it landed in the lake. =P Harp got it out though. There are pics but they are in the car, so I'll get them later. Em's down for a nap, Harp's working on the lawn, and I guess maybe I'll scrapbook some. =)

NINE?!

Emily has nine teeth!!!! I was tickling her and she had her mouth open wide and I could see a speck on the top. I felt it and there's another tooth out! She skipped one though. =) She has the 4 in the middle and then a gap and then the one after on her left side. =P What a big girl getting all these teeth!!

Red Minky

What do I do with a ton of red minky? I REALLY like minky (it's that really soft fuzzy fabric that's crazy-expensive) and I don't want to waste it on something silly. I have already cut out Em's jacket and Lainey's jacket and I still have a bunch.

I also have black minky and cow print minky and I'm going to make a reversible jacket out of those but I know I will still have extra of those too. And I have some strips of light pink and hot pink. And I have some candy-apple green and white that aren't real minky but they are sorta close. Not as soft and they look kind of striped because the fibers go different directions. I got those two at Walmart for the apple appliques on the jackets.

I could make Emily cow-print bell bottom pants with hot pink minky cuffs. Wouldn't that be fun? lol I actually really do want to do it but I think Harp might think it's too wild. =) I could make lots of baby bags. Or make me jammie pants but I have lots of those. =) I could make myself an apple jacket, hehe. =) Or I could make a quilt. But I don't think I'm going to start another quilt until Em's is done and that will be a while. =)

What would you do with a ton of minky?

'Scuse Me?

Recently, I've run into a lot of things that "aren't your grandmother's." I would like to know what exactly is wrong with my grandmother's? I have seen a "Not Your Grandmother's Knitting" book and a "Not Your Grandmother's Quilt" (on babylock.com) among other things. Maybe it's not my grandmother's but why are they pointing it out? Is something wrong with my grandma's? Huh?? Huh???

8 Teeth & Scrappin'

Yesterday, I noticed that Em's 4th bottom tooth has poked through. I was holding her upside down and saw something there and yep - it was out! She's been a little cranky since Lorna left and I thought it was all missing Lorna and having pretty much no schedule. But maybe some of it was her teeth too.

Last night, we had another craft night at church. =) We don't usually do two a month, but this month it was supposed to be the Friday before Easter. But nobody wanted to have it then because we were having visitors and stuff. So we did one the week before and one the week after. =) I think mostly because I was going to finish Lorna's quilt before the Woodys came and Valeri (who has a brain tumor and lung cancer in the 4th stage and usually is in charge of craft night but hasn't been for a few months) could come the Friday after. I think it was great doing two. =) Everyone was up for it. Maybe we should do two every month. =) No I really don't like how I feel the day after staying up past midnight... And Em misses me at bedtime because it starts at 6. But last night I scrapbooked and really I didn't get that many pages done, but I felt like I got a lot done anyway. I did a boogieboarding page that I really like. Harp thinks it's the best page I've ever done. I think it's just neat. And I put titles on some other pages. We went to Scrapbook Garden yesterday and I got the mini Xyron machine. WHAT a DEAL!! It makes stickers out of your tiny letters and stuff that you can't just glue with tape and it was only $8 for a 20 ft thing. That is going to make so many letters! I couldn't find the stuff like rubber cement that my mom got in Holland, but this thing is even easier than that! I also sat and read a scrapbooking magazine for a while. We went to Barnes and Noble and spent some gift cards we had. Harp got a cheese making book, I got my magazine, and Em got an Easter story book.

When I got home last night Harp said Em was sad at bedtime and he thought she missed me. So I wanted (even more than I usually do) to go in and look at her sleeping. =) I opened the door slowly and quietly, but when I tried to turn the knob back, it squeaked and I heard her move. I guess she saw me in the doorway because she very sleepily stood up in her crib and said the most groggy-sounding "hi." She signed help and wanted me to pick her up so I snuggled her a little and she wanted to go see Daddy too so I took her to the end of the hall to look down at Daddy in the living room and she smiled. =P And I put her back to bed and she said "bye!" and kept saying it after I left. What a sweetie. I haven't seen her much this morning because Harp got up with her so I could sleep in a little and she's been down for a nap since I got up. I can't wait to play!!! =)

4.21.2006

Bye & Hot Dogs

So I don't think I've blogged this and I just don't want to ever forget it because it's SO sweet. For the past week or two, every time I put Em down for a nap or when we put her to bed at night, she says "bye!" It's really cute and sometimes she'll keep saying it for a minute after we've left and I call back toward her room "bye!!" and we say it back and forth like 5 times. Even if she's upset that she has to go down for a nap, she'll say "bye" in between crying and that's when I think it's the very cutest. =P In the mornings, she says "Hi! ... Hi! ... Hi!" until we come and get her. =P She's fun.

And the hot dog story! =P I put food on Em's tray when it's still hot and she knows to blow on it and she signs 'hot' back to me. So the other day we had hot dogs for lunch and hers had cooled off enough so I told her it was okay to eat her hot dog. But she was still blowing on it and not eating it. It took me a while to realize I was telling her to eat her HOT dog! Tee hee!! =)

4.20.2006

The Pattern

Okay I didn't have tons of time to post earlier because Em woke up and was going to terrorize the basement if I didn't stop writing. =P No she's not that bad but there probably would have been movies everywhere, lol.

So for Em's apple jacket, I wanted to use a separating zipper so it zips in the middle of the apple. Well I only had one pattern that was already designed that way so I got it out and realized it had been used before. And I know I never used it. So I'm wondering if maybe it's Dana's? It's a hoodie jacket and 2 baby sacks (one with hoodie and one with ribbing). I don't know because the size cut out was XS and I think Dana traces her patterns, but I think it has to be hers because it's cut so precisely on the line. =) I remember her cutting EXACTLY on the line. =) Or maybe I let someone borrow it before? I don't know! Dana, let me know if it's yours (or anyone else!!).

Gonna watch more of The Scarlet Pimpernel. Dana, are you going to be in the play? Blog y'all later. =P

Ouch

On the way home, I heard this yelp/scream from the back seat... I don't remember what it sounded like, really, but it meant something's NOT right. I turned around and Em had hair in her hand. She had eaten her Dum-Dum and started sucking her thumb and holding her hair. Her hand got stuck to her hair and, when she moved it, it ripped some hair out. Ouch!! We pulled over right away and got her cleaned up. Poor Chickie!

Wiped Out!

6 months!

Today was a blast!! We went to the zoo and it was free - sponsored by Boeing - so it was packed with field trips for the first hour and a half. That was a little crazy. =) But it was really quiet and peaceful when they all left. =)

Emily said "WOW!!" about everything we saw at the zoo, including a tent and a wooden fence. But she did say it at almost every exhibit. LOL She's down here with Harp and she just looked at the DVD player and stuff below the TV and said "WOW!!!" She cracks me up. =)

She also said "Play, play!" when I asked if she wanted to go play at the playground (at the zoo). And when I told her the bongo was a bongo, she said "bongo!" but I couldn't get her to repeat it. =P

Em was way tired when we left, but we went to Scrapbook Garden to find my orange paper that the woman here wouldn't order. Found it! =) And got another pink paper that matches that they didn't sell here. Em got a Dum-Dum at the scrapbooking store and it was really hot out, so I was going to take her pants off anyway but then I decided I might as well strip her so she doesn't get her shirt red. =P She thought it was fun riding home in a diaper, I think. =)

Oh and I never made the jacket because it warmed up. I cut some of it out and realized I made it too small but I have tons of fabric so I'll just make 2 and if the baby is Lainey, they'll have matching jackets. =)

No Way

Super-cute pink ones from Old Navy from last year, never worn. Starting at $1.50 with $2.50 shipping. Ends in 5 days though. Here.

Matzo Meal, Frisbee Fun, & Free Zoo Day

This will not be in order. =) Today, I was thinking about how fun it would be to go to the zoo and how we should ask our neighbors if they want to go sometime. And thinking wow that's like $14 or something and we have already overspent the fun money until another paycheck. But that's tomorrow. Anyway so I was wishing they still had $1 Wednesdays (they do all winter) and I called Emily Peters to see if we had Bible study today. I was thinkin' it's every other week now but I wasn't 100% sure because I missed last week 'cause I got to meet our neighbors. Anyway so she said no we don't have study but they (probably only the ones with kiddos, I don't know) are meeting at the zoo at 1:30 today and it's free! She said it's as long as you get there between 10 and 2 or something, it's free. So yippee!!! I was wanting to take Em to the zoo and with other kids and this is perfect!

Yesterday, we found matzo meal. I didn't realize it was mashed up crackers. And I thought I needed the flour. But I got the meal and got home and the recipe said meal! So I was glad about that. Then we went to the mall and looked at this shirt at Motherhood that I'm kind of copying. I don't remember if I said anything about it but I liked the bottom of it but not the top so I'm making my own, but I wanted to see how long it was again and stuff. So then we went to Old Navy and they have baby flip flops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeek! But most of them I don't really like because they have this cork-lookin' bottom. There were a few with colored bottoms - a maroon, a blue, and a light purple. The maroon wasn't all that girly and really wouldn't go with her clothes and I didn't even see if they had it in her size. They didn't have the purple, but they did have the blue. I put one on her and she loved it and ran all over the store in her one flip flop with the other one attached, flopping around behind her, lol. Well I was totally torn because I really want to get her flip flops. She really likes mine. =) But the blue wouldn't go with a whole lot of her clothes. The purple would, but I would have to pay $5 shipping on $6.50 shoes. Hey! eBay!! I'm gonna look. But anyway the soles aren't floppy at all and podiatrists say kids should wear no shoes or floppy-bottomed shoes for the first 6 months that they're walking. That's a crazy long time considering she started walking at 14 months! I would feel bad if I let her wear those shoes too often but I would also feel bad if I got them and hardly let her wear them. And I'd be paying shipping on them...

Anyway then we went to Lowe's to see if they had the trimmer & edger Harper wanted. They told him when he got the mower that they get them in all the time and to just check back in a few days. So I went but this time the guy looked in the computer and said they aren't getting more. So he was going to sell me the display one. I asked if he'd give me a discount and he gave me a pretty big discount! So that was cool. Harper finished the lawn while I made the broth for the matzo ball soup last night. I ended up pitching that chicken and buying more 'cause it smelled a little funky. I didn't make the matzo balls and stuff, so I'll do that today and we'll have it for dinner tonight. We had chicken salad sandwiches last night - mmmmm, the perfect cold dinner. =) I need more cold dinner ideas because I keep wanting cold dinners. Y'all have anything?

Well then we went to High Park and we took Em's blanket in case she wouldn't walk on the grass. There were a few weeks when she didn't want to walk on grass... =) So we put her on her blanket and she thought it was SO exciting watching us throw a frisbee back and forth. =P After a while, she decided the grass would be okay and she got off the blanket and started wandering around, pulling the heads off of dandelions and blowing the ones she managed to get off intact. =) It was SO cute. Then we all walked around picking and blowing dandelions for a while and went home right as the sun was going down. It was really fun.

Then Harp and I watched The Scarlet Pimpernel until 9:30, which we have decided has to be the time when we drop whatever we are doing and go to bed. Well last night was the first night for this and Harp reeeeeeeally wanted to finish the movie but decided we have to stick to it or we won't do it. We've been going to bed way late and he has work at 7, so he's not getting enough sleep. It felt good this morning to have had the extra sleep.

Anyway so I guess that's about it. Em is wearing this pretty pink dress today that my mom sent her and I don't want to change her clothes because I like it so much, but it's too chilly to wear that to the zoo today. Maybe it will warm up. Gonna go check the weather and eBay for baby flip flops. =)

4.18.2006

Well, Poo

We ended up having steak and salad and carrots. It was good. But no park trip because we remembered it's Tuesday and Harp has men's group. Em was tired and turbo-cranky, so we put her to bed an hour early. I scrapbooked a little during her nap today. I keep starting new pages and not finishing anything. I have a little to clean and then maybe I'll scrapbook more. I could also finish my maternity shirt or make Em's apple jacket. It's just so warm out now that there is no point in the jacket. I can just save the stuff for Lainey and make it in a year and a half. =) I could paint, but I don't feel like it. Guess I'll clean.

My Man

I love my hubby. I get all excited whenever my phone starts ringning the latin song. =P And if Em hears it ring the latin song, she says "Dad?! Dad?!" It's very cute. =) She knows her daddy's ring.

I'm thinking tonight we need a cold dinner. I don't know what to make though. I don't have stuff for anything specific except salmon-pesto-cream pasta and steaks and carrots and potatoes. And lots of salad. That all sounds tasty and all, but I want more than just a salad and I don't want something so warm. But that meat does need to be cooked...

I'm also thinking it would be reaaaaaaal fun to go to the big park with the bike trails tonight and feed the ducks and throw a frisbee for a while. And maybe get out our $1 cartoon guy kite and fly it a little. I don't know if Em would have fun doing that. She was really interested in watching someone fly a kite another time we were there. Maybe I will think of a cold dinner that we can picnic? I don't feel like a sandwich though.

I'm kind of almost done with my maternity shirt. I decided to change some things and I'm not really motivated to keep sewing. Especially because I have lots of pictures developed to scrapbook and we are quickly approaching the date when I will officially be a year behind again. Ack! May it not be!!

Um, what?

Today Em and I went and got my Kansas driver's license. I know, it's about time. =) Then we ran around looking for matzoh flour. Didn't find any, but had a Dillon's call around and found one that did. Then it was time for Harp to have lunch so we met him at Oriental Cafe. Sam came and Kevin and his wife. Sam is engaged, but not wanting to actually get married anytime soon and the conversation headed toward weddings and the church. This girl he's engaged to is Catholic and "has to" get married in a Catholic church, which he doesn't want to do. So Kevin was saying how he and his wife got married with a Lutheran pastor from a church his family went to when he was young and there was controversy about leaving out a sermon, etc. Anyway so then they were talking about the Catholic and Lutheran churches and saying the Lutheran church is more open to science. I'm thinking they're saying the Catholic church doesn't want to talk about science at all and the Lutheran church is fine with science. Well that's sort of what they meant but not quite. It took me a while to realize/remember that these people equate science with evolution. Totally shocking, I know! So then they're saying how the Catholic church has finally said intelligent design isn't true. How these people call evolution science I really don't know. But wait. I do! They have all been brainwashed into thinking the interpretations of science are actually science. And because the only interpretations you hear in school are for evolution -- well duh! And quite a bit of the "science" has been proven wrong since it was made up. We have this great video, Lies in the Textbooks, that goes through like everything you learn about evolution in the schools and proves it wrong. I'm thinkin' of letting them watch it. We didn't talk about it at all and I was kinda stunned to realize they were calling evolution science. So we'll see... Maybe the conversation will continue sometime?

Then Em was totally completely exhausted so we didn't go get our matzoh flour. We'll have to go out later because we were supposed to get gas. But I think we'll forget about the flour for today and just stay in Derby. It's been a long day for Em. Gonna do some laundry...

LOL

Okay Bethany's blog just made me remember this and it's too funny not to blog. =) The other day, Em was wearing that blue polo dress and it doesn't have panties for over the diaper. I put her down for a nap and she woke up and cried some. I went into her room and she had pooped and taken her diaper half way off. There was poo in her crib and she had thrown a turd onto the floor. She was tugging and tugging at her diaper trying to get it off. I told her she is not allowed to try to change her own diaper ever again. =P

Ice

Today I am wearing my 'Eating for Two' shirt that has two ice cream cones on it. I was changing Em's diaper and she was saying "ice, ice, ice." I was saying it back, kind of like a question... Well then I picked her up and she pointed to my ice cream cones and said "Ice!" Too cute.

So now she says hi, bye, daddy, momma, mac, ben, dog, ball, bath, and ice (cream). =) That's all I can think of anyway. She tries to say banana too but sometimes she gets the 'ba' and sometimes she gets the 'nana.' =)

Today we made Harp some cookies, went to Walmart to get prenatal vitamins, went to the park and played on the swings and the rocking duck, watched a little VeggieTales while I folded a load of laundry, and took a trip to Wichita to get tax forms from Harp's office. We had already done our federal taxes but not state because you can't efile state and our printer is choosing not to print black right now (even though there is ink). I filled some of it out on the way home and we needed instructions for a couple things so Harp finished it at home and then left for the post office. He said he got there right as they were getting the last pickup. Woo hoo! =) Wouldn't have been a big deal if we missed it because the post office at the airport is picking up at 8, but now we don't have to go back to Wichita tonight. And we got lots more money than we expected from the state return. Harp only worked a month here in 2005 so we got everything back that was withheld, but we didn't know we'd get the EIC. $144 was withheld and we're getting $360. Nice, eh? That'll pay for our mower and then some. =)

Harp and I both feel icky and nothing sounds good to eat. We have steaks thawed that we were going to eat with Clint and Hannah but I don't remember why we didn't. =) We were going to grill them tonight, but we don't want to waste them on a night when nothing sounds good. So (yeah I know it will make us feel so much better) Harp ran to Taco Bell and we're going to have something gross for dinner. lol =) No I really do feel like a nachos supreme... Gonna get our girl up and eat some nast!

Amazing

This just totally amazes me. Thursday night, I put Emily's Easter dress on her over her clothes just to see what it would look like. She was REALLY tired and upset that I had woken her up because we needed to grocery shop before Clint and Hannah came. I was trying to teach her to twirl because the skirt to this dress is like a big circle with the waist cut out - the perfect twirling dress. She just cried and cried and fell to the ground, despairing over being awake. So we took the dress off her and did our shopping. Well then Sunday morning, I put the dress on her and she started to twirl in it!!! Crazy! She had never twirled before and she hadn't tried it since Thursday.... She really was paying attention to what I wanted her to do that night even though she was cranky.

More Pictures

The beautiful Lorna Grace.

The girls watching Clint and Hannah load the car.

Look at that hair!! =) She is so cute! This is the shirt that I thought looked like Lorna at Old Navy. =) I think she looks super cute in it! =)

Baby girl hugs!! =) Clint was keeping them from falling over, lol.

A sweet hug. Em was patting Lorna on the back. =)

Em and Nellie (and that's Jed on the right) after church. Nellie is the one that came and helped us paint. She is really sweet and Em just loves her. So do we. =) She nannies for 18- or 19-month-old triplets, one of which has Down's Syndrome, 4 days a week.

Nellie took some pictures of all of us. =) I forgot to get a pic of just Hannah and me!!

Emily is really into water fountains. =) We put flowers all over the cross today and Em carried hers and mine all around the building, just talking up a storm. =)

I wanted a picture of Em in her dress and she wasn't very smiley, so I asked for a modeling pose. =)

Arriving at church this morning.

We SO miss the Woodys. And Em really misses Lorna. After she had her nap, she was acting cranky and I asked her if she missed Lorna and she nodded. =(

Well, gonna go to bed. Blog ya later. =)

Missin' Them

I cried as soon as Clint and Hannah left the driveway. We just sat on the porch for a while. Em kept saying "Bye!! (long pause) Bye! (long pause) Bye...." It was really sad. =( We went to Walmart and then to Lowe's and got a mower and some weed and feed, I think. And some grass seed. Then Em went down for a nap and we watched the end of The Village. We watched it last night with Clint and Hannah but we didn't start it until after 10 and I just couldn't make it through the whole movie. So I went to bed and missed the end. Now I'm making a maternity shirt. I think I just heard Em wake up so I'm gonna go check. I have more pics to post later.

Girlfriends

Fun Stuff!!

Clint and Hannah are here!! =) Yesterday we hung out at the house a lot and talked and Hannah and I took a nap with the girls in the morning. Then we went to the mall, which was fun but I think we should have stayed home or done something so the girls could play more. We are going to play all day today. =) Besdies cooking of course. =P We are going to make Passover soup, which sounds SO yummy. Walmart didn't have matzoh flour, so we have to make a trip to Dillon's (our Kroger/King Soopers). Em ate toooooo much banana yesterday and she's plugged. =( Poor girl. She and Lorna are having a blast together. Lorna laughs when Emily falls down and I think it's hilarious. =) Lorna is so big! And her hair is so long! It's so fun having the girls together again. And #2 babies to think about. =) Okay Em is getting into something in the kitchen, so I better go grab her. =)

=D

Clint and Hannah are on their way! YAY!!

So today Em and I went out and said hi to our neighbors, who were playing in their back yard. Laurie and I ended up talking for two hours. It was really fun and we saw each other's houses, which is really neat because we have the same floor plan except for the basement. =P So it was kinda like seeing your own house with different paint and wallpaper and stuff... =) They are believers, she's 24 and he's 22, they got married at 21 and 18 and Hayden was born 9 months later. =P Alyssa is 11 months old. Em was a little too interested in toys and running around after Hayden to play with Alyssa much and Hayden is a little bit of a toot so that wasn't super-fun for Em, but she was very forgiving. =) He pushed her and threw things at her head and was kind of a terror. Laurie isn't glad about it and she asked what I do with Em because she was a super-good, perfectly behaved little girl the whole time we were there. So I told her about To Train Up A Child and she is going to borrow it. I was proud of my girl. =)

Then Harp came home for lunch and not long after he left, Em went down for a nap and Nancy came over and helped me clean. She brought a bouquet of lilacs for the table and they are really pretty but I think they are bugging my allergies. I have also been vacuuming a bunch and dusting today so I'm not sure what it is, but I took a shower to try to make it stop, but it didn't work. Oh well. Tomorrow will be better, I guess.

Then we met Harp at Kathy's house and I had my second appointment with her. TobyLaine kept kicking the doppler. I thought it was kinda cute because I really don't feel him/her kick all that often, but this was like "get that thing off of me!!" =) Kathy said I had some blood in my urine because TobyLaine's kicking my bladder. I laughed and told her it's only recently that I've felt a kick NOT in the bladder. =) She said it's no biggie though.

Then we went to the mall and ate some Arby's and went to Old Navy and saw this way cute shirt that looked SO like Lorna. I hope it's not because I've seen a picture of her wearing that shirt. =) But I got it for her and another one too. =)

Then we came home and Chickie had a short nap. We woke her up and went to Walmart and got some groceries and pictures and I got two pink polo dresses. One striped and one solid. One will be for Lorna (I'm thinkin' striped for Lorna) and we can go take pictures of the girls together in coordinating outfits. =)

Then I had my shower, which was kind of a waste of time, vacuumed the upstairs, put Chickie to bed, and here I am. I love having a clean house. It's so pretty when it's clean. =)

I can't wait for Clint and Hannah to get here!!!!!!!!!! =D
