Craftin' Momma

So it's not really that I haven't had time to blog - I've just been doing other things. Fun things. =) I have been crazy craftin' and playin' and stuff. I made my ladies the most adorable aprons. Of course I think so - I picked the fabric and whatnot. =P I will have to take pictures for you. If I don't get to it before then, we'll be baking pies all day Wednesday with the Bouchers and the kids will all be wearing their new aprons. I helped Jen cut out and start sewing five aprons for her kiddos. =P Essie and Bekah are going to be SO CUTE in their aprons together. =) Anyway my girls' aprons have cupcakes on them and coordinating stripes and adorable pink and green rick-rack. =P I love them! Right now I'm drafting up a pattern for an apron for myself. I started drafting it last week and was almost done but then I decided to do other stuff and just came back to it. And while I was looking for some fabric from my stash that would go with what I had left of the cupcakes and stripes, I found some other fabric that I thought would make an adorable apron, so I think I'll make myself two! Ha! =) If my pattern isn't absolutely perfect, I'll be able to tweak it for the second one. But I don't see any reason it won't turn out to be exactly how I want it. =P

I have also been scrapbooking quite a bit, which has been fun! And oh I also drafted a pattern for an adorable princess dress that I am going to make for Eden sometime. Emily and I looked at David's Bridal's website and picked what we liked and didn't like about all the dresses and then made the ideal Eden dress. =) Of course, Eden had zero input, but that would spoil the surprise. =P

The other day, Lainey was being slow about something and Harper said "Slow obedience is..." (It's "slow obedience is NO obedience.") and she said "Slow obedience is FAST obedience!" He said "that's silly" and she said "Uh huh, we looked it up." HA!

Oh and Lainey read her first word all by herself! I am so proud of her! Emily and Eden were playing with the tiles from Bananagrams (awesome game, btw!) and Lainey sat down with them. So I got some letters for her and kind of helped her with some words and then I put SAT together and she sounded it out all by herself! Big girl!! She doesn't know all of her letter sounds still, but hey at least she can read with the ones she knows. =P She is very good at putting isolated sounds together into a word, too.

Lainey's been running around saying "Jude, Chevrolation!" LOL Can you tell she likes cars?

So hmm don't know what else to blog. We're going to have Thanksgiving with the Bouchers and maybe Joa and his wife (Christa but I don't know how she spells it). =) Life Skills Day will be Wednesday this week instead of Friday so we can make the pies together and take Friday off of school.

Gonna make some dinner (it's 7 already!) and get some kids in bed and make some aprons. =P

I Love Bekah

Have I said I can't get enough of that baby? =) She is the sweetest thing.

Harp's parents got here yesterday. We pretty much just hung out yesterday and played Carcassonne after the kids went to bed. Today we had a late breakfast and then took a walk to the gas station to air up the tires in our wagon. It didn't work, though. We need to use our neighbor's air compressor.

Lainey pooped on the potty, so we went out for ice cream. =P We got home and she pooped in her panties, didn't tell anyone, and went and sat on the potty. Smeared poop all over the potty and dropped some on the (dark brown) monkey rug... It was a chore to clean her up. I put her in the tub and sprayed her off and soaped her up... Then after she was clean and in new panties, I went back in with a cleaning wipe to clean all the poop - and stepped in the poop on the rug. Still didn't know it was there when I was done cleaning up and I tracked it down the (carpeted) hall, down the (carpeted) stairs, and all over the kitchen and living room. Grody! Bekah wanted to nurse, so Harp's mom took care of it. (Thanks!) =P

Gonna look at my pics before it's time to roll out tortillas. Everything sorta happened late today so dinner is late too. =P

Funnies, Stuff

Whenever something smells bad, Em says "Puff!!" lol I don't know where it came from.

Em made up this song: "The Eclipse-clipse-clipse went up an ellipse-lipse-lipse!" She sings it over and over. =P

Today we were in line for dinner at church and Lainey was talking to Jolene behind us. She told her how she got a bracelet and Emmy got bubbles (at the dentist) and then she said "I have Dora panties!" lol

Which reminds me - because it's probably the first time she didn't do it - Lainey always calls Dora "D-D-D-Dora."

So this morning we went to the dentist for Em to have a filling. Crazy! I didn't have a cavity until like last year! Good thing that tooth will fall out. =P

Lainey has been doing a great job going peepee on the potty. Poop not so much. =\ But today I even dared to take her to the dentist (which is 20 min away) in panties. She did great!

Baked a bunch of cookies today... Tomorrow we're doing laundry, going to the midwife, having Emily and Whitney over for dinner and then going to Big Truck Night! I think Caleb is going to love it, too. =) So it's going to be like dinner at 5 and then leave at 5:45 for the thing, but that's okay.

It's late. Good night!

Things

Today we took Harp to work so we'd have the car. We went to Marine's estate sale but it wasn't open yet, so we went home and had breakfast and then walked with Judy. We went over to her house for a bit and then back to Marine's to get some shelves for the garage. I was supposed to pick them up Saturday but now we won't be in town Saturday so I don't know what I'm going to do. Too bad because they were nice and cheap. I was going to pay $20 for two and at Lowe's we were about to pay $200 for two cabinet things for the garage. Oh well. The cabinets will look nicer if we end up with them... Or maybe someone can pick my shelves up for me. Anyway...

So then we got dowels for VBS. Then home for lunch and baths. Then to the doctor for Lainey's 2-year checkup. I didn't realize until I was there that we did her 18-month checkup at like 20 months and now her 2-year at 23 months. Oops. The doctor said Lainey might not have allergies but he thinks a 2-week fast and then overloading them with something is a better way to tell than the blood test anyway so we didn't do allergy testing. And I'm going to have to wait a little bit to start anyway because we're going to a pool this weekend and she always gets rashy after being in chlorine and I have to pay attention to the rash. Laine weighed 24.8 (she was 24.4 last time) and she's 33" tall. Em's 39" tall.

Tonight we had (have - they are all playing Wii) Scott and Alyssa and Heath and Bethany over for steaks. Yum!

I was going to paint tomorrow night but plans have changed so maybe I'll do it tomorrow during the day. I have visions of little green children running through my bedroom... =P But at least it won't matter if it gets on the carpet!

Yesterday we got out the slip-n-slide and had Hannah & Scott and Alyssa over in the morning and Emily and Caleb and Eden in the afternoon. We had late naps and didn't wake up until Harp came home. =P

Lainey used to say "me-me" for excuse me. Yesterday, she said "coozie, guys!" And yesterday she knocked over the shoe rack and shoes fell all down the stairs. She said "Oh, man!" and then she went and picked them all up and put them back without being asked! lol She calls a diaper a "diapee."

I got the girls those landmark flash cards and they are having fun with them. I taught them 5 today. One time I showed Emily Big Ben and she was like "Ummmm.... Chi...hua..hua..." trying to think of what it was called. (My parents' Chihuahua is Ben.)

Anyway that's all... Gonna go play some Wii. =)

Oh, And...

I cut Lainey's hair today. I haven't taken a pic yet, but I will eventually... =P

Funny Things & Whatnot

Harp was in the girls' room after we put them to bed, but while I was grabbing Em some fresh water and here's the cuteness that happened:
E: Why are you still here?
H: Because I wanted to see my treasure.
E: I'm not a treasure.
H: Yes you are, you're my treasure.
E: But a tape treasure is one of those things that you pull out and it has the numbers all over it and then you push the button and it sucks back in.

A week or so ago, Em showed me her bath mirror and told me "Mommy, I broke this because it was made in China." I asked her if she broke it because it was made in China or if it broke because it was made in China. She didn't actually answer the question, though. She said "Well I broke it because it was made in China and you don't like things that are made in China." lol So I'm still trying to ask her how it broke... And all she could do was talk about it being made in China and how I don't like things made in China... This all came from a conversation we had at JoAnn's when my mom was here. Em wanted a $1 water bottle from the $1 bin and I said I wasn't keen on getting a $1 water bottle that was made in China - who knows what nasty stuff she might drink out of it... I told her sometimes things from China aren't as safe as they should be and I just didn't think it was a good idea to get it. So she found this bath mirror with suction cups on the back (also in the $1 bin, made in China) and I said that was okay because it really couldn't hurt her. So my mom got it for her. So that's where the whole thing came from... I finally got out of her that she suctioned the mirror down on the counter and when she pulled it up, one suction cup came up but the other stuck to the counter and busted out of the back of the mirror - because it was made in China. lol =P

Em has been saying her l's very well. I don't think she ever says them funny anymore. But she has said some funny things, like lellow for yellow. She's overcorrecting. =) Maybe a month and a half ago, she said something was yucky and then stopped and said "lucky. I said it with the l." I told her lucky is a word, but what she meant really was yucky. =P So cute!

A couple days ago we were at Walmart and Em and I each grabbed a thing of soy milk and went back to meet Harp at the cart. As we were walking back to him, Em said "If a kid's just three years old......and it's not very big yet......and it's carrying some new soy milk................it's heavy." lol I thought it was so cute. She did carry it the whole way, though, and it was pretty far. =P

Some Laineyness:
blankek = blanket
wa-wee, ice = water with ice
aaaah-you? = where are you?
wa-wee, bit = asking for a bit of water
o-tay (occasionally o-day) = okay

Yesterday, I was reading in Matthew when Lainey woke up from her nap and I was in the passage about building on the rock vs. the sand. So I started singing the song to Lainey. We walked down the stairs and she said "walls! uh-oh!" and I said "Oh, the walls came tumbling down?" and she was excited that I understood. Right then, the house made a crackle and she looked a little freaked out, like the walls were going to tumble down. =P Hehe! It was cute.

Lainey's started calling us Mommy-O and Daddy-O, like Emmy. She calls Hannah 'Hannah' not and not Addah. She is always asking "have it," "is it," "have some," and "what?" And "come too," which sounds exactly the same as "gum chew" but usually is "come too." Wherever we go, she asks to "come too?" as if we'd leave her, lol. Then she gets super excited when we say yes, that she can come. =)

Her most recent Lainey thing is "O-tay, thanks!" It's for everything. She asks for cheese, I say yes, she says "o-tay, thanks!" I go up to get stuff to change her diaper and tell her I have it ready. She heads up the stairs saying "o-tay, thanks!" I asked her to get her flip flops on at the park yesterday and she said "o-tay, thanks!" I love it! I hope it lasts a long time. =P It's so sweet to hear!

Her other most recent Lainey thing is "Oh, Mommy!" I didn't notice how often I said things like "Oh, Lainey, I love you!" or "Oh, Lainey, you're so sweet!" or "Oh, Laine, you did such a great job!" I didn't notice the "Oh" part until she started the "Oh, Mommy!" She says it all the time, just out of nowhere. So sometimes we just say it back and forth to each other. "Oh, Mommy!" "Oh, Lainey!" "Oh, Mommy!" "Oh, Lainey!" =P Hehe!

Okay so I don't know what else to blog. Yesterday was our anniversary! Harp doesn't read my blog and you already know I think he's the greatest hubby ever, so I won't go mushy on you. =P We took the kids to Jim & Tatum's house and we went out to Bonefish Grill. It was SO good. Ridiculously good. Mmm! Then we went to the gelato place in the same shopping center and I got tiramisu gelato. Ohhhh, yeah! Yum!! Harp got pom-tini (pomegranate) sorbetto. It was good too but really insanely sweet. Then we didn't know what to do. So we went shopping for Lainey's birthday at Toys R Us. We actually did find one thing that we are going to get her (2 of them, for 3 bucks each, lol), but we were just like NO we don't need more toys in our house... Nothing was cool enough to make us wants more toys in our house. Except the two tiny Polly Pockets that had modest clothes on that came with little cars. Lainey loves cars and I have this little lemon Polly Pocket thing that she loves to play with. So we thought that would be fun. And not take up much space. =P We looked online to see if there was a better deal, but no. So I'll get them sometime when we're up there. Somehow... Anyway then we hung out at Jim & Tatum's for a while. It was a late night for the girls but then they slept in this morning so that was nice for me. A rare treat. =P

Yesterday morning, I took the girls to a play group thing with Parents As Teachers. It was a flip-flop beach party and it was pretty fun. They didn't play with the other kids, but they shared and got along well despite all the irresistably cool toys. Then we played on the playground, came home and ate and had naps, then blew bubbles on the porch (and found that a slotted spoon makes a fun bubble wand), and then met Alyssa and Hannah at the playground. Then our date night...

When we were driving home last night, I asked Em "What did you guys play?" she said "We didn't play anything." I said "Oh, what did you do then?" She said "We just, um, played a lot." lol Harper and I started cracking up and she said, over our laughter, "I mean, we didn't play any games!" =P

There were lots and lots of toads out and driving home, they were hopping all over the road. Harp kept talking about it and Lainey said "Happened, Daddy? Toads?" He couldn't tell her he was running over toads! He just told her they weren't very safe toads to hop in roads with cars on them. She is communicating so much now, just whatever random thing she might be thinking... I love it!

So I'm tired of staring at the computer. I made another pair of jeans over the weekend. And I finished a shirt today and most of another shirt. The second one I just need to find a safety pin to turn the straps and then sew them on and it's done. It was the first time I have shirred a top using bobbin elastic. I could be seriously addicted to this... It's so fast and it turns out so cute. And so much cute fabric is 60% off at JoAnn's right now... And it only takes 4/5 of a yard for a long maternity shirt. Scary, huh? I have fabric cut for another pair of jeans so I guess I should get those done first. H got a PS3 and tonight is reserved for playing with that for him. So maybe I'll go get started on some pantalones. Later!

Lainey's Ears =P

We went tonight and got Lainey's ears pierced! I was holding her, so I didn't see her face, but she didn't cry at all. They didn't even stick a mirror in front of her - she just didn't cry. Harp had the video camera so I'll have to watch it later. Lainey is very happy to have "minks" in her ears.

Randomness

Yesterday, Sarah Jo and Anna came over. Yay! =) We sat around the living room and talked for a couple of hours and ate sushi and strawberries. =P

Then we went to the Blanchettes' for dinner, which was fun. Em drove the kids' John Deere tractor all over their front yard. She did a really good job with it!

Lainey says "me-me" for excuse me. =) "Dummy" or sometimes "dum" is gum.

The other day Em was on the phone with Harp's mom and I overheard her telling how the toilet seat broke. Harp's mom asked what part and Em said "That part!" and then started laughing and said through the laughter "You can't see it, though, can you?" lol Later in the conversation though she still tried to "show" her other things.

Em was watching home videos with Harp and she wanted to watch when she came out of my belly. So we let her watch her birth and she was totally fine with it all. I was laughing through it because Harp was on the phone with Jim while it was on and I just thought it was too funny. =P Em wants to be there when the baby is born. I think she could handle it so I might let her come.

Lainey has been expressing her desires more recently. =P Today I turned on some music and she said "No... Ride?" She wanted Wild Ride (the VBS music) on! =P I asked her to say please and she did it so sweetly (she cocks her head to the side and says it in this sugary-sweet voice), so I turned it on for her. =P She also let it be known yesterday that she wanted her own pile of walnuts on the other bench instead of sharing a pile with Emily. =P

Well garage sale stuff is everywhere. I thought it would be good to plan ahead and not have a wreck of a house left after the garage sale (from quickly going through everything to find stuff to sell, which is what happened last time and the time before). Only it's not working out because now the house is just a wreck with garage sale stuff until the sale! Actually I have a Pack N Play and another pile in the corner of our room, some stuff on the futon, but most of it I put out in the garage on some wood between two chairs. Only thing is now we have to bring it all in so we can fit both cars in the garage because the weather has been really bad! So much for my bright idea. We may designate the toy room as the garage sale prep room until after the sale and then rearrange stuff how we want it after the sale (crib back up, etc).

Okay I have files now for the embroidery on that quilt, only now I can't find my flash drive and Harp has his on his keychain and he's at Lowe's. Agh. Maybe I'll scrapbook until he gets back. Later!

Stuff

Last night, Harp just put a Band-Aid on Em's thumb for the night. She has never actually kept it on, but last night, she did! She was so proud of herself, too! So this morning, I kind of wanted an excuse to go to Pump It Up with Harper, too, so we decided to celebrate that she chose not to suck last night by going to the pop-in playtime again. It was at the one on the other side of town today. It was fun and it had the same stuff, but I liked the other one better. We all had a blast. Harp got Emily to start climbing the big climbing wall in the obstacle course all by herself. It's probably 10-12 feet high and it's really steep. She did a great job!

We have the tornado channel on right now and I don't even like hearing about them! Yesterday, Harp's brother got caught in a tornado and drove through it. He went through the eye and then out the other side. He said later he saw the path of the tornado on TV and he was heading one direction along the road and it was going the other. Crazy!

Lainey says taco SO cute. It's between tacoo and how you'd say it in Spanish. I need a video! =P

I don't remember if I blogged about when my parents were coming and I was singing "Grandma and Grandpa are coming today" over and over and Emily started interjecting "B" so we were singing "Grandma B and Grandpa B are coming today." Tonight, Lainey kept putting her bowl on her head and asking us to sing her Happy Birthday (we have people wear silly hats at church on their birthday) so the third or so time I sang it to her, Em was done with singing it with me and decided instead to sing "again" after every line I sang. lol She just gets more and more fun. =P

Tonight Em had a Band-Aid on her finger for bed, but she took it off. She came out of her room and told me she thought she needed the mitten back on. I thought she was wise, realizing that she wasn't going to have the self-control to keep the Band-Aid on. Harp thought it was just an excuse to get up. =P He put habanero sauce under a new Band-Aid and told her how bad it would hurt if she took it off and sucked. We'll see in the morning what happened. =P

I did a lot of cleaning in my craft room today. I made some of those shelves like Jaime and I love it! They are so useful. I don't know what I'll do with the rest of the stuff in there... =P But I do really need to get it organized and I am actually motivated right now.

Lainey's been singing some of the words to the good night song for a few weeks. She sings night, tight, and bright. =P And she usually starts singing bright before we are there. =P She gets so excited it just comes out, lol. Too cute!

We decided around 6 to go for a bike ride and didn't really have a plan, but we biked to the Wisners' house and hung out there for a while and then came back. Lainey was so excited about the bike trailer that she laughed for the first few minutes. =P We stopped and grabbed some pinecones for the girls because they love the C is for Conifer song (you guessed - They Might Be Giants). Lainey sings "trees!" when we sing that song. =)

Okay I'm going to go find something to do... =) Night!

Spelling, Doctor, Home Alone

The other day, Em was playing with her keyboard while I got breakfast on the table. She said "Mommy? Does this say 'spot?'" I came to see and I told her she was very close! I ran my finger under the letters as she sounded out 'stop.' She said "Stop? Why does it say stop?" I told her it was the button that would stop the music when she put the keyboard on one of the music beats. She was SO excited about this discovery - and that she discovered it by reading! She has been playing with it ever since, starting and stopping the music. =P She used to just push random buttons.

Today, Em was playing with the magnets on the fridge and she wanted to spell 'uh-oh.' She spelled it 'U O.' Hehe! Cute! I told her it had 2 H's in it that you didn't really hear, so we put them in together and she was excited to know how to spell it. Then I asked her to spell 'hat' and she did it very quickly all by herself. Then I asked her to spell 'Emily.' She spelled it 'MLE.' I thought it was funny because she reads her name all the time. It's on her door. I just figured she'd get that one. =P So I told her she had some of the right letters but I was going to sound it out for her. When I sounded it out, she got it all right. She even remembered that the E sound at the end was a Y. It's so interesting how the brain works... (Or she was just being goofy with the MLE, lol.)

Lainey likes to "read" things. She points to the letters and says "C, C, C!" Hehe! And she counts things "Two, two, two!" Anything more than one is two. =)

We had Lainey's 18-mo checkup today (she is 20 months) and all is well. She has really dry skin and the doctor said he thought my insight was correct about the detergent and/or soap (did I ever mention I used some store-bought detergent around the time it started and also ran out of her baby soap?) because it's on her trunk and usually if it's an allergy thing, it's on the arms and legs. He said just don't give her a bath more than every other day (I don't anyway) and use Eucerin or Aquaphor (which Emily Peters suggested last week) to help clear it up and it should stay away, assuming it was the detergent or soap. Oh and to use a mild soap but I am now. =P I had some Target brand baby soap that has been in the cupboard since Em was a baby and that made Lainey worse for sure. I don't know if it was the cause of it all or if it was the detergent and then that prolonged it. But anyway... He said it should clear up and that they would only do steroids as a last resort. I think it will clear up, though. It is already looking better. She was 24.6 pounds and Em was 32.something. Lainey was SO good for the doctor. I think she really enjoyed it all. =P And Moo came and the doctor looked in Moo's ears, too. Who wouldn't love seeing a doctor that checked out her Moo? =P

Harp and the girls are on a Daddy-daughter date. =) The girls were SO excited. They very happily gave me hugs and kisses and ran out the door after Daddy. So why do they spaz out when I leave for Bible study? Especially Emily. I don't know what is up with her. For the last month or so, she has seriously freaked out every time I have left. Like screaming "I can't let you go! I need you!" and hanging onto my legs to try to make me stay. It's really bizarre. She never minded before when I left. I think for so many weeks I didn't go to Bible study because my morning sickness was so bad that she just got used to my being home all the time. I don't know what else would explain it. I don't like it! But she sure didn't mind leaving me! =P

On their way out of the neighborhood, they saw a big tortoise and stopped to get out and look at it. They called me and I ran down the street to see it, too. Four more people joined us and we called Tails and Scales to see if they lost a turtle (it's a pet store right behind our street) and they had. lol They said he just walked out the back door. He got pretty far for a turtle! It was an African something tortoise. Really pretty, and when the guy came to get it he said it didn't bite and we could touch it. Lainey just knocked on his shell. =P It was very cool!

So what have I been doing home alone? Um, I read the articles in the NGJ that came today but not the letters. And sent an email. And now here I am. I don't know what I'll do now but I think the rest of my fam will be home any minute. =)

3.25.2008

Hey!

Hi! My parents came Friday and left this morning. We had a really fun time together and we are sad they are gone. =( They will be back in 5 weeks though so that is good. =)

I went to the midwife today for my first appointment. She said my due date is Oct 12 (based on LMP) so I guess I should be saying Oct 17 then. I don't know, I don't really care, I just don't want anyone to freak out if I'm late and I don't want to feel "late" when it's not even really late. So ya know what? I'm just not going to tell anyone my due date when they ask. I will just say the middle of October. That's good enough for me. The baby's heart rate was 180 and we only heard one but Kathy said you can't usually find two with a doppler anyway until around 18 weeks. So, hey, there is still a chance it's twins. ;) I called Harp and told him she found two heartbeats. He was like no way don't joke about it. I told him I was totally serious. He was still like no are you messing with me? I said no she did - she found the baby's and she found mine. lol =P I was amused, hehe.

Anyway I put the girls down for a nap at the Wisners' while I went to my appointment because it was at 2. Then I got back and Lainey was still asleep and Em hadn't even gone to sleep! I was hungry so I took Em to Applebee's with me (it's really close to their house) while Lainey slept there more. It was kind of fun to have an Emmy and Mommy date. Then we woke Lainey up and met Alyssa and Hannah at the park. I was SO tired by the time we came home that I tried to take a nap. It didn't really work out but I did get some rest. The kids went to bed "early" but really it was just more like on time. =P They've had some late, late nights recently.

I'm going to my first crop Friday night. I think it would be a huge waste of money for me to go to a crop, so I never go. I have all my stuff at home and if I want to scrapbook, well then I do. But this is a fundraiser for the women's shelter in Wichita and 100% of the money goes to it. So I don't feel like it's a waste and I think it will be really fun. And maybe I'll decide that it never would have been a waste in the first place. =P I just don't put a lot of money in my hobby envelope each month and I'd rather use it on stuff than crop fees.

Randomness: I love how Emmy says acciwenawy for accidentally. Tonight she was trying to say it correctly so I said it slowly for her, but I kinda hope she didn't get it. =P

Lainey got up early one morning and I tried to get her to snuggle me in bed but she was bouncing on me saying morney, morney (which sounds very close to money, money). I thought she was telling me it was morning and when I asked her to say morning later, that's how she said it. But in the last few days, that's what she has been saying for banana! Funny!

Lainey has all her non-molar teeth. It's so weird that she has 16 teeth. She seems so little but she's not anymore.

Anyway so I'm off to print some pics for the crop and go to bed. Later!

Girls and Things

Lainey Stuff:
shashee or zhazhee = sorry
DA-ta-da = cracker (that was a hard one to figure out, lol)
wa-wee = water
she is finally saying meat, but it used to be meap and occasionally meam =)
Harp watched a Herbie movie with the girls last night while I was at craft night. He said some rocks fell on Herbie and Lainey said "uh-oh!!!" =)

Emmy Stuff:
Emily is all about Big Brain Academy. We played it quite a bit with the Bourciers so now I'm kinda hooked on it again. =P Fun game. Well tonight Emily got a silver medal all by herself - not a smidgen of help from me - on Face Case (on easy). I had been trying for a platinum on easy right before I let her have a try and she got 90% correct in 1 min 6 sec. I got 90% correct in 57 seconds for my gold medal. I wonder if she will get fast enough to do that. It's only a difference of 9 seconds so I think it's possible! And I think that's insane. Emily is freakishly good at Block Spot, too, where you look at a rotating set of blocks and pick out of four rotating sets which one matches. It is so fun to play with her.
We have been playing a whole lot of Go Fish lately, too. =) We made a deck together with stickers from my stash. The cards don't all exactly match, but there are 4 butterflies, 4 ants, 4 balloons, etc. Emily LOVES to play Go Fish. She can't hold her cards without showing them, lol, but it's still a blast.
One night we were putting a Band-Aid on Lainey's finger (trying to stop the sucking since we keep all getting sick) before bed and Emily told me "I think if we put a mitten on her hand, that would be a good option." Hehehe! She later told me that a mitten wouldn't be a good option for her. =P Funny kid.

Well Em is on antibiotics for an ear infection and still coughing pretty icky coughs. Lainey is coughing occasionally. Harp feels awful tonight. I am happily well. =) Gonna go watch a documentary with my hero of a man. Later!

Nanny

Lainey says her name. =) She started a few weeks ago. It sounds like something between Nanny and Nonny. So cute!

Lainey has a freckle under her bottom lip that we just noticed a few weeks ago too. =P

Lainey is 18 Months Old

=) I can't believe she is so big. I thought I'd do a post about what she's like at 18 months. =P

She is kind of a tomboy, but less and less so... She is brave at the playground, but she doesn't like to be dirty. One of her favorite words is "dirty." One day, we were in the garage cleaning and she lost a shoe. Her sock got really nasty and she wanted it off because it was dirty. =P Another day, I had left a bunch of ground beef on the floor (she dumped her plate and it's easier to clean up dry) and she went to the edge of the living room, pointed in the kitchen and fussed that it was dirty. Then she scooted around the half-wall, staying as close as she could to the wall until she could climb up on the bench and not step on any of the meat. =P She is a little Miss Priss. =P

She is having a major growth spurt. She eats as much as Harp or I do (sometimes more). After dinner, her tummy is as tight as a basketball. =P She actually likes peanut butter now and she can eat chocolate without getting upset in the middle of the night.

Meat is "meap" or "meam," water is "ba-pee" (the old version, but still used when she's tired) or "wa-wee." She loves to brush her teeth. She says "brush teese!" =P She loves to try to go potty and last week when we were all sick, she went #1 and #2. I haven't been taking her very much, but I am trying to a little more often. It's too chilly for me to want to do "real" potty training.

It is so cute how she plays with Em. She pretty much answers Emily's questions with yes or no until they have established what they are playing. ("Do you want to be Tigger, Lainey?" "Do you want to be Pooh?" "Are we going to the zoo?") She does anything Emily tells her to do when we pretend stuff. We will "drive" somewhere and Em will tell Lainey to sit down and put her seatbelt on and she will. She loves Em and wants to do everything she does. She even pretended to puke in the potty after Em puked a couple weeks ago... =P

She is a climber. She wants to stand on anything she sees (including toys and books - we're workin' on that). She always wants her mouth and hands full of food. She says "chies, chies!" for munchies, which is what she says when she's hungry. =) Which is all the time. =) She likes to point out balls and sees them in everything. =)

If you ask for a kiss, it's not often that she'll give one, unless it's some funny kind of kiss (upside down or between the bars of her crib). But if you're not lookin' for one, she'll just come kiss you. =P She just randomly climbs in your lap or snuggles up to you. It is soooo nice to have such a cuddly girl!

She will go to anybody. Today we were at a housewarming party and she wanted people to hold her that we didn't even know! She's not quite as partial to men anymore, but she does still love Dave. =)

Whoa it's later than I thought... Later!

Random Things

Em and I have this thing when we're going to go up to the bathroom... We pretend we are a guest and ask where the bathroom is and then the other one says "Up the stairs, first door on the left." =P It's silly, but hey, someday someone will come over and she'll be able to tell them where the bathroom is, lol.

Lainey likes to say "maaaa" with a growly voice when she's playing with toys. Usually with two toys - that is how the toys interact. =P

Yesterday, Lainey pooped on the potty! I was going to give her a bath and I asked if she wanted to go potty first. She said yes so I put her on and she pooped! My big girl! She was SO proud of herself.

Laine always wants to be big like Emmy. Yesterday I was braiding Em's pigtails and the whole time Lainey was showing me with her hair that she wanted it in pigtails and running between me and the basket of hair things until I was done with Em's. So Lainey got braided pigtails, too. =)

Hey

Hey! Laundry day. Bible study day. Last night was girls' group and we had a great study and then made birthday cards for soldiers to send to their kids (the organization that sends them was in my most recent scrapbook magazine). Em went with me and she was so good! Just like one of the big girls. Actually, better, last night. There were some issues between the girls while we made cards but I missed a lot of it.

Stamp sets are 1/2 off at Hobby Lobby this week and I got four of them with birthday money. =) I'm excited to scrapbook but it probably won't happen today. I still have lots of laundry and small group to get ready for. Hmm but it still might happen because the girls are worn out. I bet they will nap a loooong time.

Lainey says so much it's crazy. Yesterday she looked at my scrapbook table and pointed to a smudge of adhesive (that was dirty) and said "uh-oh! dirty!" ("uh-oh! doo-ee!") Hehe. Her diaper is a "bah-pee," help me is now "ehp-EE." Another (UH-nu-NUH) is still her favorite word. Now she also uses it to say she wants something to eat that she hasn't already had one of. She'll point and say UH-nu-NUH! =P She really wants chewable vitamins every morning and stands as high as she can on her toes on the bathroom scale, pointing at them and asking for them. I break off little pieces for her. =P Lainey really doesn't like apple sauce or grape juice (or any juice, really). I think it's funny how she doesn't like fruit! Just berries. And I think cherries.

Oh, a week or so ago, we noticed that Lainey has three more teeth. You know you're a second child when your parents don't notice until you have three new teeth. I don't know how long they were there before we saw them. Not too long, but you'd think we'd notice... =P Yes, we do brush her teeth and gums. =)

Emily is pregnant like 25+ times a day - no joke. Harp said it's starting to get old, lol. I don't think she's going to stop any time soon. She likes to ask me to be the doctor or midwife. If I'm the doctor, I have to drive her to the hospital so if I am doing the dishes or something I tell her I'm a midwife and it's going to be a homebirth, lol. =P

I don't remember what started the conversation the other day but Em and I were talking about hell and what it is going to be like for people that aren't forgiven. We talked about how we all deserve to be punished like that because we have all broken God's rules (we've been talking a lot about lying and stealing and coveting lately - not to mention obey your parents =P). She was really thinking about it and like that doesn't sound good. Then I told her that that's why Jesus came and died, to be a sacrifice for our sin (like the boy in her book that pushed his friend out from in front of a car but got hit himself) and he took our punishment if we understand that we are sinners and need forgiveness and ask for it. And then God will let us go to heaven because Jesus took our punishment. And how then Jesus comes into your heart and changes your life. She was all happy to be talking about Jesus and I said "Isn't that good news?" She said "Yeah!!! And you know what else is good news? I have a rocking lion (wocking yiyon)!!" lol WAY too funny.

So I think my laundry is ready to be rotated. I just got a call from Karen and I have to go to the store to listen to something to catch me up on their "teacher's meeting" that I never heard about... Probably 30 minutes of them telling me things they have told me before... That's a bummer because the girls are going to be sleeping late and then we won't have any time together before Harp gets home. Then there's small group tonight. Maybe nobody will come anyway because Scott and Alyssa are sick and Guy and Diana aren't coming anymore (they live way far away and things just came up for them that were more important) and I don't know if Heath and Bethany are coming or not...

4-Day Weekeeeend!

Hey! Well yesterday Harp woke up sick. Bummer! Especially a bummer because I was going to babysit Caleb and Eden in the morning and it was going to be so much fun. =P But then I started feeling icky too. I didn't get it as bad as Harp did, but I wanted to rest and hopefully keep it away. We hung out and watched movies almost all day. Harp went to work for a little while for the second part of the morning but then Sam told him it was exactly how his started and he puked and then Harp kept feeling like he was going to puke so he came back home. Anyway, we're both better today and excited for the weekend. We didn't think Harp got MLK Day off, but today he found out he does! And it's a 9x80 week, so yay! I'm ready for a spontaneous road trip, but not Harp. =P So we'll just hang out and find something to do here...

It snowed again and I let the girls play outside some this morning. I took pictures until my fingers were too cold and then I let them play on the deck while I did the dishes. They had fun until Lainey fell down and got cold. Then it was over quickly. =P

Last night, Lainey said "Give me more, please" in Lainey-speak. It's so fun that she is communicating so much. I love it. She tells me every time she poops, "poo-poo bah-poo." That's poop diaper. =P She grabs her diaper and wants it changed. She really wants to wear Emmy's panties and I let her wear them over her diaper sometimes and she gets so excited. =P She wants to go on the potty all the time and she just toots, but at least she knows what to do. =P I haven't started potty training her, though.

Harp's home, so I'm gonna go see my man! Later! =)

Laine Ballaine & Pie

I don't know if I've ever blogged about that nickname, but it's one that has stuck for months and months. =P And Laina Ballaine.

Anyway Lainey says "Bye-bye!" when I put her down for a nap. It's so cute and I remember when Emmy used to do that. She was about the same age as Lainey is now.

Lainey says so much. She always wants to be buckled in her high chair and she says something like bubble for buckle (although it sounds different than the bubble that really means bubble). =P Her cutest word is UH-nuh-NUH, which means another. =P She always likes to have one thing for each hand (crackers or whatever).

Lainey has been an Emmy's girl for a while. When she wakes up, she asks for Emmy. Today when she got hurt, she wanted Emmy. =P She has started being kind of a Daddy's girl lately though. =)

Lainey is so cute signing thank you. She puts her arm way in the air and throws it down and says something that doesn't really sound like thank you but that's what she is saying. =P

Our pumpkin was moldy inside. So we went to Walmart for more but only found canned pumpkin. Then we decided to get the can twice as big and make two and didn't realize until a while after we got home that the big can was pumpkin pie filling mix. Oops! I think I'm going to take it back because I will never use that if Alton Brown's is good (and I'm expecting it to be) and I definitely want to make Alton Brown's this time.

Shoes, Scrapbookin', Stuff

My mom sent Lainey Joy some shoes today. Lainey was so excited, she laughed and laughed the whole time I was putting them on her. =) She is so funny! I don't know why she likes shoes so much unless it's just because her big sister wears shoes and I didn't really put shoes on her when she was tiny. Maybe it's just a girl thing, but she doesn't get it from me.

We went by the scrapbook store today to grab stuff to make kits for my class. As of now, nobody is signed up! Kind of a bummer, kind of a relief. I made sure that this one would be a fast kit to make, but even so, I don't feel like making a bunch of kits. I'm just going to make two and we'll see what happens. I wouldn't even mind if it was canceled.

Karen ordered me Mindy's Zoo stamps. Yay! I got them with birthday money my mom gave me. And I got some other goodies, too. Three colors of stickles, a green chalk ink pad, some fun flowers and brads, and some ribbons.

My mom sent me a scrapbook magazine so I had a fun afternoon looking through that. And now I feel like scrapbooking again. =)

I'm about to watch a movie with H-Bot. Could be aborted if Cori calls because she has a math final tomorrow and she asked for help, but I don't know when yet. Anyway yeah have a good night!

Oh and Lainey is sleeping in a toddler bed tonight. The girls switched for the night. Cute, huh?!

Boop

Lainey says book! It's "boop." Isn't that the cutest thing ever? =P
