Bekah likes to say "I have a sweeket!" It means I have a secret. =P But her secret is usually a toy wrapped up in a blanket or some clothes that she unwraps and shows you. Sometimes it's "I have a baby!" lol
This morning Bek started crying in her sleep and I went and got her up. We snuggled on the couch and read books. The video camera was sitting next to us, so we played with it and videoed reading the books. Then she wanted to watch the videos of reading the books. =P She's so cute!
We officially started multiplication in Em's math book today. I got out 20 LPS animals and asked her to put them in equal groups. I said I didn't care how many groups or how many in each group, just to do it however she wanted. She immediately said "Okay, I'll do 4 groups of 5." She made each group have a captain, too. =P Haha!
So then we were figuring out how many legs there were on the chairs at our table. She said 4 legs and 6 chairs makes 24 legs. I asked her how she figured that out and she said she counted them all. LOL! That was fast. I told her that works, but that's not what we're trying to do. Then I said the first grade book doesn't teach skip counting by 3's or 4's and they wait until 2nd grade. She cut me off and said "3, 6, 9, 12..." I said "What?! How do you know THAT?" She said "I just do." I said "Can you skip count by fours?" She said "4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28" lol I said "Hey, where are you learning this stuff??" She said "I was born knowing that." Well that cracked me up and I said "Oh yeah?" She said "Yeah, I was born with a brain." Totally cracking me up more... I said "Yeah well when you were born all you said to me was 'waaaaah, waaaaah, waaaaah!' And when you were hungry you screamed your head off 'cause you couldn't even say 'I need milk!'" She cracked up at that. =P I have no idea where she learned to skip count, though. Huh.

Math, Reading, Randomness
Today, the girls and I went for a walk on this trail that goes around part of the lake. We had heard of it, but never checked it out. It is beautiful and SO close! We will be going back there often, I'm sure. Well we passed a lady walking two dogs and Bekah said "two dogs!" Super cute! It's the first time I'm aware of that she has just pointed out that there were two of something. She usually counts "one, two" as we put her shoes on or put her arms in her sleeves or her feet in her pants... =) But she gets what two means! =) At least, that it's more than one.
So, speaking of math... In Sunday School, the kids (and leaders) each got two teddy grahams on their cookie. (Yeah, I am not in charge of snacks - I reeeeally don't like that my kids get junk in SS and junk in AWANA but I live with it.) Anyway I covered the tray up and asked Em if there are 6 people and each person gets two teddy grahams, how many teddy grahams are there? She said 12. I said how do you know? Her answer totally surprised me. She said "Well, because 5 plus 5 is 10 and 6 is one more than 5, so it would have to be 2 more, which makes it 12." She does not have all her math facts memorized (something we'll be working on this fall, for sure) but she definitely understands the concepts and it didn't take her long to figure out the answer. Then I asked her if 5 people ate theirs, how many would be left. She said two. I said how do you know? "Because then only one person would still have theirs and they got two." =P I like to know how she thinks!
Em had her reading assessment the other day at the library. The lady that did it said it is the most widely used test and has an error of half a grade level. Crazy. Well Emily was off the chart for some of the exercises because they only went up to a 4th grade level. They thought it was going to take 10-15 minutes for a 5-year-old, but it took closer to an hour. They just had to keep going and going! We were there for an hour and 10 minutes. The lady was super nice and went through all Em's answers with me and just praised her nonstop. She said she's at a strong 5th grade level, going into 6th grade. Her comprehension was 6th grade. And she said if Em likes it, to go ahead with the 7th grade Grammar book that I have. It's not too hard for her. Wow. She got 75% of the 7th grade words correct, too. There were 20 for each grade level. She made me smile when she said she didn't recommend putting her in public school. =P
On Saturday, we drove down to Heyburn State Park and met Vickie and Jerry and Eric and Molly and Baby Micah. =) It was so much fun! We went tubing and I tried wakeboarding, but after getting water in my face three times, I was done. =P I got up for a few seconds, wobbled, and fell down. So I don't know if it's fun. But getting your face slammed into the water isn't fun. So I opted for tubing the rest of the time. =P
Next week is the county fair. We've never entered anything in anything, but Harper is going to enter some beer and some mead and I'm going to enter a scrapbook and some photos. And I might enter something in crocheting. I think I will. I just have to decide what. =)

Bikes, Swimmin', Fun Stuff
Yesterday, Harper had a neurologist appointment in CDA. Everything is good - his MRI was normal and all that. This doctor said it's uncommon, but not unheard of, for labyrinthitis to last this long. So there's still some hope that it will go away. =)
While we were in CDA, we got Emily a bike. We put it together late last night after the kids were in bed and she was so excited to see it this morning. I got some laundry going and got the kids ready for a bike ride! =) I took Lainey and Bekah to the park in the bike trailer and Em pretty much walked her bike and used it as a kick bike on the way to the park. So we got there and I let the littles out to run around the field and started working with Em. It only took her a couple of tries! I realized that she was trying to look at her feet when she was getting them on the pedals, which was making her steer off to the side, and then she'd wobble and have to put her feet down. So I explained what was happening and told her to try it again, but to keep looking ahead and just feel for the pedal. She did it! I couldn't believe it! And she had so much fun! I put Bek back in the trailer and we biked all around the loop at the park and all the way back home. She went into the grass a couple of times and Lainey went to help her out. Lainey ran the whole rest of the way around the park and back home, saying she was Dash (from The Incredibles). Lainey probably ran more than a half mile. Crazy girl! I bet she is sleeping hard right now. =) One time she went to help Em and she said "Emmy, I will help you whenever you need help!" Em said "Thanks. You're such a good sister, Laine." So sweet! =)
So today was a big day for Em. 'Cause then we went to swimming lessons and usually she wears her life jacket... Today I told her I wanted her to use the kick board and no life jacket. She did 5 laps with it! I don't think she has ever done that many. Her swim teacher told me she did a great job and told me how she went with Em for her laps and Emily talked and talked the whole time. =P She told her all about her bike. =) Hehe!
The other day Sunny came over and we scrapbooked! Yay! =) We're going to do it again Tuesday. I can't wait! I got some new papers while we were in CDA.
This afternoon, we have to go pick up our Azure Standard order. First one! I'm excited. =) Now I won't have to check out at Yokes with 20 bags of stuff from the bulk foods bin, lol. =) Yay for my wheat and my spelt (spell check isn't convinced that's a word) and my corn and whatever else I don't even remember ordering! =P I ordered a month ago, only a couple of hours late to get it last month. They only deliver once a month. Anyway. I'm excited. =)
I think I'm gonna go play with my scrappin' stuff until the kids wake up. =)

Bekah's Job, Emily's Trust
Bekah is so big. She follows directions, like "put that back" or "close the door" or "close the drawer." So now she has a job. She is so proud of it. =) Whenever I change her diaper, I ask her to go get me a fresh diaper. She walks over to the diaper stacker and gets one and brings it to me with such a huge smile. =) It is precious. She is also getting into doing what we're doing, even more than before. She was doing downward dog (yoga) in the living room while Harper was doing yoga. =P
She says "good" and she says "more" while she signs it now and sometimes she just says it without the sign. Oh and she says "monster" too but I can't remember how. She loves her monster that I made her for Christmas. =) Today she told me "no-no" pointing to the drawer that has my potato peeler in it. =P And she definitely says "down" and points down while she says it. =)
Emily finished her Sparks book last week and she has a review book to review all the verses she's learned. So last night I quizzed her at dinner. She knows them all. I thought she might have forgotten some of the older ones, but nope. She has a good memory!
Last night after Awana I was putting the kids to bed, already late, but then we started talking about all sorts of good stuff. =P I don't even remember how it all came up but we talked about how Jesus comes into somebody's heart, about how God wouldn't be a righteous judge if he didn't punish sin (which led into an illustration with a doll, a cow, and a little girl toy 'cause Emily didn't know what a judge was), and about what it means for Jesus to have taken the punishment for our sin. And Emily quoted "For he who keeps the whole Law, yet stumbles at just one point, is guilty of breaking all of it." James 2:10 Yup, we are all guilty of breaking it all. And how important it is for people to know about Jesus to be able to trust him. Emily said maybe we could go to Thailand and if they still believe the story about the peacock, then we could tell them about Jesus. =) There was a story in her Highlights about a Thai legend about a peacock and I think a crow. Anyway so we had talked about what happens when babies die (which came from talking about whose hearts Jesus was in) and then I asked Emily if she knew when she was sinning that she was sinning against God, like if she thought about it and realized that she was sinning against God. She said yes. So I asked her if she died, where she would go. She said heaven. I asked her how she knew. She said "because I'm trusting Jesus to forgive my sin." I told her when she was a little tiny baby I looked at her and thought I wonder if she will trust Jesus or not and I am so glad that the answer is yes. =) It was a special Mommy and Emmy time. Lainey was playing with the girl and the cow, lol. =P I love these ladies.
Bekah is running around jabbering. =P And playing with my dry embossers. She looks like she wants them to be castanets. lol Too cute!
It has been so warm here that we have almost no ice left in our grass. There is nothing left on the driveway at all. It's crazy! We were going to walk to the library yesterday, but it was a little windy and the kids have been sick and Harper was actually sick yesterday too (which means he worked today - bah) so we ended up not going.
Harper picked up Twilight for me the day before and I am done with it. I thought it was okay, but the movie was better. The book seemed like it was written by a high school girl. Which, maybe it was. I don't really know. And I guess it's told from the perspective of a high school girl, so maybe that's why. But the movie was better. Although, you learn more in the book. Maybe I will read the other books.
Lainey has been doing great in Cubbies. A couple months ago, she freaked out twice about wiping herself and had a fit (twice) on the potty because I wasn't there to wipe her. Yeah. She wipes herself now. lol =)
Emmy started swim lessons on Thursday and it's really neat because I can take the little kids and play in the pool with them while she has lessons. And the best part is there is a hot tub!! Woo hoo! I have been wanting to get in a hot tub. =P I was about to go ask a hotel if they minded... lol
Ooh! Which reminds me, we are going to take a little vacation in April. Yay! We are going to spend a weekend in Spokane and I am taking the big girls to Little House on the Prairie, the musical. We have to get some more books read or some things might be spoiled. Actually I Googled the show to see how close to the books it is and it is going to give away some stuff if we don't read them all first. It's not just Little House on the Prairie because we've read that and there are characters in the play that are just showing up 4 books into the series. Em and Lainey wanted to dress up like pioneer girls for the show until I mentioned that such people are called bonnetheads. Emily did NOT want to be a bonnethead. lol =P So she decided she will just wear a dress. =)
Okay everyone is up from naps and I think Bekah might be stinky. Later! =P

Hey!
This morning I was really sleepy because Harp and I stayed up too late and Bek woke up at like 5. I put her right back after I fed her, but I wasn't 100% asleep while I was feeding her. =) So Emily suggested that she and Lainey could watch a movie and I could fall asleep on the couch. =P She knows how to get a movie out of a sleepy mom. =P Hehe! Actually I think we have only done that once since I was pregnant and exhausted (which was only at the beginning of my pregnancy, thankfully!) so I said sure. =P So the girls watched The Incredibles while I slept. I remember waking up twice and seeing like two scenes of the entire movie. =) It was nice! I'm glad my girls are so well-behaved.
Today we made pancakes and I surprised the girls by putting some chocolate chips in them. They weren't supposed to have a lot of chocolate chips in them, but I didn't really pay attention when I put the batter on the griddle and I ended up making about 8 pancakes with a couple chocolate chips each and then two that had like 10 chocolate chips in them, lol. So of course I couldn't eat the ones with all the chocolate chips, lol. So I got a lame pancake with ONE chocolate chip! lol I don't know why I think that's so funny... =P Anyway Emily was like "uh Mom did you put blueberries in the pancakes?" I said no. She said "there's something dark in them." I said yeah. She said "maybe they got burnt there. Like it's burnt sugar or something." I said "something like that." =P I asked if she wanted the one with lots of those spots and she said yeah, that's fine. =P Hehe, it was so cute when she cut into it and it was melty goop. She said "is it...chocolate?!" in the cutest way. =P Haha! She was glad she took the one with lots of spots.
Anyway... =) We also cleaned bathrooms today. Used some of my 19-cent Lysol toilet cleaner, lol. =P That stuff actually works better than whatever the cheapest stuff is. There's a decent deal on it at Target, so maybe I should get more. =P
We took Bekah in for her 6-month checkup. She weighed 16lb, 1oz. They said she was 26" long but I don't get it because I watched her measure and it was definitely 26.5" and I measured her to be 26.5" yesterday when I was checking to see if she had already outgrown her car seat. All's well with her.
Em had a shot. =( She got a KINRIX. And I know this is ridiculous and paranoid, but I have to make myself not think about the fact that I didn't look and SEE that that is what they were giving her. Agh! Anyway she was very brave and I told her to try to be brave even when it went in and she did a little tiny squeak when it went in, but she didn't freak out and she was SO brave! The nurse said she was the bravest and she was amazing. =) Emily was very proud of herself for being the "bravest." =)
Dinner with the church tonight... Donna was telling Harper that on Sunday, Lainey had to go potty. She ran for the men's room and Donna told her that they needed to go in the ladies' room. Lainey went in and looked in all the stalls and told Donna "There aren't any ladies in here!" =P
Lainey got a potty watch in the mail yesterday. Potty watch #1 didn't survive the bathtub. Potty watch #2 had a defective button and when Harp pushed it against the floor, we're thinking it made a hairline crack in the glass face. It looked fine and he set it and I adjusted the band and everything and it wasn't visibly broken. But then Lainey had it on for only 3.5 hours before I noticed that it was shattered! And I was with her that whole time and I know nothing catastrophic happened to it. So it must have already been started. Anyway they replaced it and made sure to note that they replaced it because of the button, not because of the face, as that is not covered under the warranty. Weird that they bothered to say that. lol Anyway tonight she was just talking and talking and said "I got a new potty watch and I got a new potty watch and I got a new potty watch." lol She says things like that often - instead of I got three potty watches... =)
Tomorrow is Harper's last day of work! I am excited to have him home for a while. =) I really need to get the house cleaned up really well tomorrow because it's much harder for me to keep clean when he's here. Not because he makes it that much messier, it's just that I would rather be hanging out with him than cleaning anything, so I sorta neglect stuff. =)
We played Fusion Frenzy with the girls last night and Lainey cried real tears because the bugs were eating Mommy's hamburger. She's such a sensitive girl sometimes! Oh that reminds me...this one morning Lainey asked me to get her some breakfast. Harp hadn't even left for work yet and we usually go down when he leaves. I told her I would get her breakfast in just a little bit. She asked again not long after that and I told her I would get her breakfast in just a little bit. Again, she asked...I said the same thing... So then when she asked AGAIN, I said, trying to sound serious (I am not even good at faking), "No, Lainey, I will never get you breakfast." And she burst into tears! She bawled and bawled and bawled. =( I felt so bad! =( I hugged her and held her and tried to calm her down and we ended up going down to the kitchen without even getting dressed so I could get her breakfast and prove to her that I wasn't serious. Poor girl. She is my silly one, but she is not one to joke with. =P
Guess what? I might have another graduate to add to this video thing. lol! I'm not touching it again until I know for sure if she wants to be in it. =P I have a little more time than I thought, too, so that's good.

Today we made pancakes and I surprised the girls by putting some chocolate chips in them. They weren't supposed to have a lot of chocolate chips in them, but I didn't really pay attention when I put the batter on the griddle and I ended up making about 8 pancakes with a couple chocolate chips each and then two that had like 10 chocolate chips in them, lol. So of course I couldn't eat the ones with all the chocolate chips, lol. So I got a lame pancake with ONE chocolate chip! lol I don't know why I think that's so funny... =P Anyway Emily was like "uh Mom did you put blueberries in the pancakes?" I said no. She said "there's something dark in them." I said yeah. She said "maybe they got burnt there. Like it's burnt sugar or something." I said "something like that." =P I asked if she wanted the one with lots of those spots and she said yeah, that's fine. =P Hehe, it was so cute when she cut into it and it was melty goop. She said "is it...chocolate?!" in the cutest way. =P Haha! She was glad she took the one with lots of spots.
Anyway... =) We also cleaned bathrooms today. Used some of my 19-cent Lysol toilet cleaner, lol. =P That stuff actually works better than whatever the cheapest stuff is. There's a decent deal on it at Target, so maybe I should get more. =P
We took Bekah in for her 6-month checkup. She weighed 16lb, 1oz. They said she was 26" long but I don't get it because I watched her measure and it was definitely 26.5" and I measured her to be 26.5" yesterday when I was checking to see if she had already outgrown her car seat. All's well with her.
Em had a shot. =( She got a KINRIX. And I know this is ridiculous and paranoid, but I have to make myself not think about the fact that I didn't look and SEE that that is what they were giving her. Agh! Anyway she was very brave and I told her to try to be brave even when it went in and she did a little tiny squeak when it went in, but she didn't freak out and she was SO brave! The nurse said she was the bravest and she was amazing. =) Emily was very proud of herself for being the "bravest." =)
Dinner with the church tonight... Donna was telling Harper that on Sunday, Lainey had to go potty. She ran for the men's room and Donna told her that they needed to go in the ladies' room. Lainey went in and looked in all the stalls and told Donna "There aren't any ladies in here!" =P
Lainey got a potty watch in the mail yesterday. Potty watch #1 didn't survive the bathtub. Potty watch #2 had a defective button and when Harp pushed it against the floor, we're thinking it made a hairline crack in the glass face. It looked fine and he set it and I adjusted the band and everything and it wasn't visibly broken. But then Lainey had it on for only 3.5 hours before I noticed that it was shattered! And I was with her that whole time and I know nothing catastrophic happened to it. So it must have already been started. Anyway they replaced it and made sure to note that they replaced it because of the button, not because of the face, as that is not covered under the warranty. Weird that they bothered to say that. lol Anyway tonight she was just talking and talking and said "I got a new potty watch and I got a new potty watch and I got a new potty watch." lol She says things like that often - instead of I got three potty watches... =)
Tomorrow is Harper's last day of work! I am excited to have him home for a while. =) I really need to get the house cleaned up really well tomorrow because it's much harder for me to keep clean when he's here. Not because he makes it that much messier, it's just that I would rather be hanging out with him than cleaning anything, so I sorta neglect stuff. =)
We played Fusion Frenzy with the girls last night and Lainey cried real tears because the bugs were eating Mommy's hamburger. She's such a sensitive girl sometimes! Oh that reminds me...this one morning Lainey asked me to get her some breakfast. Harp hadn't even left for work yet and we usually go down when he leaves. I told her I would get her breakfast in just a little bit. She asked again not long after that and I told her I would get her breakfast in just a little bit. Again, she asked...I said the same thing... So then when she asked AGAIN, I said, trying to sound serious (I am not even good at faking), "No, Lainey, I will never get you breakfast." And she burst into tears! She bawled and bawled and bawled. =( I felt so bad! =( I hugged her and held her and tried to calm her down and we ended up going down to the kitchen without even getting dressed so I could get her breakfast and prove to her that I wasn't serious. Poor girl. She is my silly one, but she is not one to joke with. =P
Guess what? I might have another graduate to add to this video thing. lol! I'm not touching it again until I know for sure if she wants to be in it. =P I have a little more time than I thought, too, so that's good.

Reading, Sitting, Etc
Bek can sit for over a minute now! She still falls over eventually, but it's so cute!! =) I love that she is getting big because you can tell she wants to be like her sisters. =)
Em and I just finished up Little House in the Big Woods. She loved it and is now in her bed reading it to herself. =P We learned so much from that book about making your own everything. =P Emily kept reading ahead of me and asking questions about what it said on the next page. lol I had her read parts of it to me to keep her from jumping ahead. She did a great job! I loved the little random comments she made about how they did things or like "Music is spelled M-U-S-I-C!! That's FUNNY!" =) She was really reading along with me for most of it, I guess!
Emily made up the somer-nastic, which is a somersault that ends in a gymnastic. =P
Oh! Em and I were playing this game this morning that we made up a few weeks ago. It's "Noun or Verb" and I say a word and she tells me if it's a noun or a verb. She is stinking good at it. I figured since she's been identifying adverbs for a long long long time, she is probably capable of recognizing other parts of speech. So I taught her about nouns and verbs (and reminded her of the Schoolhouse Rock songs!) and she can do it. This morning, I was stacking some bowls as I was giving her words and I said "stack!" and then realized that wasn't a very good one because it could be either, but I was curious to see what she was going to say, so I didn't say anything. She laughed and said "That one can be either!!" Whoa!
Lainey says "yeah-hah" and "no-ho" - don't know where she got it but it's cute how she says it. (Hah rhymes with yeah.)
What else? Did I blog about Lainey asking for a cracker out of the cwacker cage? That's what she called the bag that the crackers were in.
Okay I have three hungry kids. Breakfast was just muffins and that wasn't enough. =) Later!

Sleepy!
I am tired! I haven't felt this way during the day for a looong time and I know exactly what's up: I ran out of vitamins on Sunday. It took a few days for it to be noticeable, but now it is very, very noticeable. So tomorrow I'll be going to get more. I hope they make me feel better more quickly than not taking them made me feel icky.
Tonight, Laine was on the potty singing "Are you gonna come wipe me? Are you gonna come wipe me? Yes, yes, yes, yes? Or no, no, no, no?" and then "Are you gonna come wipe me, my parents, my parents?" lol She is so funny.
Bekah weighed 14 lb, 1 oz today and was 25" long. She is 4 months old today! Crazy. Em had her 4-year checkup today too and got an MMR shot. She was brave but freaked a little when the needle actually went in. She'll be getting KINRIX in a month and another MMR eventually but then she will be done. And hopefully we can find her a friend with Chicken Pox. =)
Oh! We went to the zoo Wednesday and it was warm out! I was actually hot! We met Emily and her kids at the playground and had a picnic and then all went to the zoo and met Alyssa and Anna and their kids, too. I still haven't even put the pics on the computer.
I have been trying to catch up from having so much undone when Harp got home yesterday. I was quilting Lainey's quilt, doing laundry, and getting clothes put in tubs - baby clothes, maternity clothes, winter clothes... So having him home in the afternoon sort of threw everything off. Well and I went to the ESC because he was home and I had the chance. Maybe I'll get caught up tonight. =P
Emily has had 6 dry nights in a row, I think. At least 5 but I think 6. She is excited to have the whole week full of stars. =)

Proud Girl
This morning, Emily came out of her room with her star sticker sheet in hand and headed straight for the peepee chart. lol Good morning, Emily! =) She had 5 dry nights this week! Woo hoo! 4 of them she just didn't go at all and one of them she woke up to go. It's hard to believe that that alarm could work this quickly. Maybe it's all coincidence? I don't know, but we're excited either way! She is so happy to wake up dry.
The girls and I were playing "geocaching" in the living room this morning - hiding something and then having someone come in to find it and telling them if they're hot or cold until they find it. =P They really wanted to go geocaching today but it's 26 degrees!
Geocaching is like a treasure hunt sort of thing with GPS. Someone hides a cache somewhere (in bushes, under the cover of a light post, in a tree, wherever) and records the GPS coordinates. Then they post it at geocaching.com. You can go to geocaching.com and get all these coordinates of where geocaches are hidden. Just go out with your GPS to one of those spots and look around. The cache is usually covered in camo duct tape and can be a tupperware-style thing or medicine bottle or ammo box or something. The description tells how big the container is. The bigger ones have stuff in them and you take something and leave something. Those are the ones the kids like. =P They've gotten jewelry, balls, this funny stuffed animal that you can put stuff in (Harp says it's a Pokemon)... All manner of random junk, lol. All of them have a log for you to sign. Then you go home and get back on geocaching.com to say that you found that cache and it keeps track of how many caches you have found and where. It's all just for fun. =P Some caches have themes or missions. One that we did had 6 steps to figuring out the coordinates of the real cache. Some have cameras in them and everyone that finds it takes their own picture and then the owner of the cache puts them up on the site when the camera gets full. Harp wants to hide one where you have to find a key one place and then find the locked box somewhere else. Anyway yeah that's geocaching. =)
We were just playing with dominoes and the kids wanted to get some little Lego men to put in a domino house. So Harp got the tiny Legos down and then we were going to build a Lego castle but we didn't have the pieces we thought we had... So we decided to go out looking for a Lego castle set so we can follow the "rules" together, hehe. =P So I need to go feed Bekah and we're going to venture out in the freezing cold to look for some Legos. It seems like they only make Star Wars sets anymore. And other themed stuff. What happened to just plain Legos? Cars and bulldozers and trains and stuff...

Your 1-week Old
I got one of those babycenter emails today for my 1-week-old. Haha! Funny joke. =P
Anyway yesterday morning we did the gel... Played games and went to Hog Wild... Then my mom and I went to Kohl's and around 4:30 I dropped her off at home and went to the Birth Inn to be checked... Couldn't reach. Brenda wanted me to stay close, remembering what the woman the day before did - pretty much exactly what I did only then her water broke and she called an hour later for them to come back. And I was still having contractions, even though they weren't regular (2.5-5.5 min apart). So Harp and I went to Sakura for dinner. My parents were going to take the kids to dinner but they wanted to go to Caleb and Eden's so they dropped them off there and went to this yummy place at the mall. Then my parents met us at the Birth Inn and we played Carcasonne. Then Kathy and Brenda talked on the phone and Kathy said to spend an hour on my side because with my cervix how it is, my contractions weren't very effective standing or sitting. Did that. They kept coming, but I could sleep through them so they thought I should just get some sleep (it was 9 at that point). So I went to bed around 9:30.
Between 3 and 4, someone else came in labor, but she ended up going home after an hour. lol It's a crazy week!
This morning, Kathy came and checked me and could hardly reach. She had to moosh my belly all around. It was not comfortable... She said I'm at 2 cm (she had said 3 the other day, but when you can't reach very well...) and it's still thick. She said she didn't think I was ready. We talked about doing the gel again Sunday. She didn't think I'd be up for it today because she thought I'd be tired from yesterday, but really the contractions don't bother me (not like they aren't intense, but I don't mind them) and I said well what if I have the gel and I just spend the whole day on my side? Because yesterday I wasn't doing that... She said if I wanted to try that, we could. It wouldn't hurt.
But we also talked about my due date and why I had said the 15th. So now she is going with the 15th too. She said the baby is doing great and we don't really have any reason to put me through anything I don't want to do right now. But I don't mind the contractions from the gel, so we went for it. So I'm waiting for it to kick in a little more before I go assume my position for the rest of the day... =P I'm not expecting it to work. But since I don't really mind it, I figured it's worth a try because my parents leave in the morning.
I think if it doesn't work today, being on my side all day, there's not a whole lot of point in trying tomorrow. So maybe Saturday or Sunday we'd try again.
Last night, the girls spent the night at Emily's house. Emily left my Emily in panties for the night because she didn't have a big enough diaper and she didn't pee!!! She has never had a dry night! She asked me a little while ago if she could sleep in panties and I said no because she hadn't had a dry night in a diaper. Maybe she just pees the diaper because it's there!! I think I'll put her in panties tonight too. She has broken out again from the diapers and has red spots on her bottom.
Lainey wants me to play doctor with her so I'm gonna go. I've missed my girlies!

Funny Things & Whatnot
Harp was in the girls' room after we put them to bed, but while I was grabbing Em some fresh water and here's the cuteness that happened:
A week or so ago, Em showed me her bath mirror and told me "Mommy, I broke this because it was made in China." I asked her if she broke it because it was made in China or if it broke because it was made in China. She didn't actually answer the question, though. She said "Well I broke it because it was made in China and you don't like things that are made in China." lol So I'm still trying to ask her how it broke... And all she could do was talk about it being made in China and how I don't like things made in China... This all came from a conversation we had at JoAnn's when my mom was here. Em wanted a $1 water bottle from the $1 bin and I said I wasn't keen on getting a $1 water bottle that was made in China - who knows what nasty stuff she might drink out of it... I told her sometimes things from China aren't as safe as they should be and I just didn't think it was a good idea to get it. So she found this bath mirror with suction cups on the back (also in the $1 bin, made in China) and I said that was okay because it really couldn't hurt her. So my mom got it for her. So that's where the whole thing came from... I finally got out of her that she suctioned the mirror down on the counter and when she pulled it up, one suction cup came up but the other stuck to the counter and busted out of the back of the mirror - because it was made in China. lol =P
Em has been saying her l's very well. I don't think she ever says them funny anymore. But she has said some funny things, like lellow for yellow. She's overcorrecting. =) Maybe a month and a half ago, she said something was yucky and then stopped and said "lucky. I said it with the l." I told her lucky is a word, but what she meant really was yucky. =P So cute!
A couple days ago we were at Walmart and Em and I each grabbed a thing of soy milk and went back to meet Harp at the cart. As we were walking back to him, Em said "If a kid's just three years old......and it's not very big yet......and it's carrying some new soy milk................it's heavy." lol I thought it was so cute. She did carry it the whole way, though, and it was pretty far. =P

Yesterday, I was reading in Matthew when Lainey woke up from her nap and I was in the passage about building on the rock vs. the sand. So I started singing the song to Lainey. We walked down the stairs and she said "walls! uh-oh!" and I said "Oh, the walls came tumbling down?" and she was excited that I understood. Right then, the house made a crackle and she looked a little freaked out, like the walls were going to tumble down. =P Hehe! It was cute.
Lainey's started calling us Mommy-O and Daddy-O, like Emmy. She calls Hannah 'Hannah' not and not Addah. She is always asking "have it," "is it," "have some," and "what?" And "come too," which sounds exactly the same as "gum chew" but usually is "come too." Wherever we go, she asks to "come too?" as if we'd leave her, lol. Then she gets super excited when we say yes, that she can come. =)
Her most recent Lainey thing is "O-tay, thanks!" It's for everything. She asks for cheese, I say yes, she says "o-tay, thanks!" I go up to get stuff to change her diaper and tell her I have it ready. She heads up the stairs saying "o-tay, thanks!" I asked her to get her flip flops on at the park yesterday and she said "o-tay, thanks!" I love it! I hope it lasts a long time. =P It's so sweet to hear!
Her other most recent Lainey thing is "Oh, Mommy!" I didn't notice how often I said things like "Oh, Lainey, I love you!" or "Oh, Lainey, you're so sweet!" or "Oh, Laine, you did such a great job!" I didn't notice the "Oh" part until she started the "Oh, Mommy!" She says it all the time, just out of nowhere. So sometimes we just say it back and forth to each other. "Oh, Mommy!" "Oh, Lainey!" "Oh, Mommy!" "Oh, Lainey!" =P Hehe!
Okay so I don't know what else to blog. Yesterday was our anniversary! Harp doesn't read my blog and you already know I think he's the greatest hubby ever, so I won't go mushy on you. =P We took the kids to Jim & Tatum's house and we went out to Bonefish Grill. It was SO good. Ridiculously good. Mmm! Then we went to the gelato place in the same shopping center and I got tiramisu gelato. Ohhhh, yeah! Yum!! Harp got pom-tini (pomegranate) sorbetto. It was good too but really insanely sweet. Then we didn't know what to do. So we went shopping for Lainey's birthday at Toys R Us. We actually did find one thing that we are going to get her (2 of them, for 3 bucks each, lol), but we were just like NO we don't need more toys in our house... Nothing was cool enough to make us wants more toys in our house. Except the two tiny Polly Pockets that had modest clothes on that came with little cars. Lainey loves cars and I have this little lemon Polly Pocket thing that she loves to play with. So we thought that would be fun. And not take up much space. =P We looked online to see if there was a better deal, but no. So I'll get them sometime when we're up there. Somehow... Anyway then we hung out at Jim & Tatum's for a while. It was a late night for the girls but then they slept in this morning so that was nice for me. A rare treat. =P
Yesterday morning, I took the girls to a play group thing with Parents As Teachers. It was a flip-flop beach party and it was pretty fun. They didn't play with the other kids, but they shared and got along well despite all the irresistably cool toys. Then we played on the playground, came home and ate and had naps, then blew bubbles on the porch (and found that a slotted spoon makes a fun bubble wand), and then met Alyssa and Hannah at the playground. Then our date night...
When we were driving home last night, I asked Em "What did you guys play?" she said "We didn't play anything." I said "Oh, what did you do then?" She said "We just, um, played a lot." lol Harper and I started cracking up and she said, over our laughter, "I mean, we didn't play any games!" =P
There were lots and lots of toads out and driving home, they were hopping all over the road. Harp kept talking about it and Lainey said "Happened, Daddy? Toads?" He couldn't tell her he was running over toads! He just told her they weren't very safe toads to hop in roads with cars on them. She is communicating so much now, just whatever random thing she might be thinking... I love it!
So I'm tired of staring at the computer. I made another pair of jeans over the weekend. And I finished a shirt today and most of another shirt. The second one I just need to find a safety pin to turn the straps and then sew them on and it's done. It was the first time I have shirred a top using bobbin elastic. I could be seriously addicted to this... It's so fast and it turns out so cute. And so much cute fabric is 60% off at JoAnn's right now... And it only takes 4/5 of a yard for a long maternity shirt. Scary, huh? I have fabric cut for another pair of jeans so I guess I should get those done first. H got a PS3 and tonight is reserved for playing with that for him. So maybe I'll go get started on some pantalones. Later!

A week or so ago, Em showed me her bath mirror and told me "Mommy, I broke this because it was made in China." I asked her if she broke it because it was made in China or if it broke because it was made in China. She didn't actually answer the question, though. She said "Well I broke it because it was made in China and you don't like things that are made in China." lol So I'm still trying to ask her how it broke... And all she could do was talk about it being made in China and how I don't like things made in China... This all came from a conversation we had at JoAnn's when my mom was here. Em wanted a $1 water bottle from the $1 bin and I said I wasn't keen on getting a $1 water bottle that was made in China - who knows what nasty stuff she might drink out of it... I told her sometimes things from China aren't as safe as they should be and I just didn't think it was a good idea to get it. So she found this bath mirror with suction cups on the back (also in the $1 bin, made in China) and I said that was okay because it really couldn't hurt her. So my mom got it for her. So that's where the whole thing came from... I finally got out of her that she suctioned the mirror down on the counter and when she pulled it up, one suction cup came up but the other stuck to the counter and busted out of the back of the mirror - because it was made in China. lol =P
Em has been saying her l's very well. I don't think she ever says them funny anymore. But she has said some funny things, like lellow for yellow. She's overcorrecting. =) Maybe a month and a half ago, she said something was yucky and then stopped and said "lucky. I said it with the l." I told her lucky is a word, but what she meant really was yucky. =P So cute!
A couple days ago we were at Walmart and Em and I each grabbed a thing of soy milk and went back to meet Harp at the cart. As we were walking back to him, Em said "If a kid's just three years old......and it's not very big yet......and it's carrying some new soy milk................it's heavy." lol I thought it was so cute. She did carry it the whole way, though, and it was pretty far. =P

Yesterday, I was reading in Matthew when Lainey woke up from her nap and I was in the passage about building on the rock vs. the sand. So I started singing the song to Lainey. We walked down the stairs and she said "walls! uh-oh!" and I said "Oh, the walls came tumbling down?" and she was excited that I understood. Right then, the house made a crackle and she looked a little freaked out, like the walls were going to tumble down. =P Hehe! It was cute.
Lainey's started calling us Mommy-O and Daddy-O, like Emmy. She calls Hannah 'Hannah' not and not Addah. She is always asking "have it," "is it," "have some," and "what?" And "come too," which sounds exactly the same as "gum chew" but usually is "come too." Wherever we go, she asks to "come too?" as if we'd leave her, lol. Then she gets super excited when we say yes, that she can come. =)
Her most recent Lainey thing is "O-tay, thanks!" It's for everything. She asks for cheese, I say yes, she says "o-tay, thanks!" I go up to get stuff to change her diaper and tell her I have it ready. She heads up the stairs saying "o-tay, thanks!" I asked her to get her flip flops on at the park yesterday and she said "o-tay, thanks!" I love it! I hope it lasts a long time. =P It's so sweet to hear!
Her other most recent Lainey thing is "Oh, Mommy!" I didn't notice how often I said things like "Oh, Lainey, I love you!" or "Oh, Lainey, you're so sweet!" or "Oh, Laine, you did such a great job!" I didn't notice the "Oh" part until she started the "Oh, Mommy!" She says it all the time, just out of nowhere. So sometimes we just say it back and forth to each other. "Oh, Mommy!" "Oh, Lainey!" "Oh, Mommy!" "Oh, Lainey!" =P Hehe!
Okay so I don't know what else to blog. Yesterday was our anniversary! Harp doesn't read my blog and you already know I think he's the greatest hubby ever, so I won't go mushy on you. =P We took the kids to Jim & Tatum's house and we went out to Bonefish Grill. It was SO good. Ridiculously good. Mmm! Then we went to the gelato place in the same shopping center and I got tiramisu gelato. Ohhhh, yeah! Yum!! Harp got pom-tini (pomegranate) sorbetto. It was good too but really insanely sweet. Then we didn't know what to do. So we went shopping for Lainey's birthday at Toys R Us. We actually did find one thing that we are going to get her (2 of them, for 3 bucks each, lol), but we were just like NO we don't need more toys in our house... Nothing was cool enough to make us wants more toys in our house. Except the two tiny Polly Pockets that had modest clothes on that came with little cars. Lainey loves cars and I have this little lemon Polly Pocket thing that she loves to play with. So we thought that would be fun. And not take up much space. =P We looked online to see if there was a better deal, but no. So I'll get them sometime when we're up there. Somehow... Anyway then we hung out at Jim & Tatum's for a while. It was a late night for the girls but then they slept in this morning so that was nice for me. A rare treat. =P
Yesterday morning, I took the girls to a play group thing with Parents As Teachers. It was a flip-flop beach party and it was pretty fun. They didn't play with the other kids, but they shared and got along well despite all the irresistably cool toys. Then we played on the playground, came home and ate and had naps, then blew bubbles on the porch (and found that a slotted spoon makes a fun bubble wand), and then met Alyssa and Hannah at the playground. Then our date night...
When we were driving home last night, I asked Em "What did you guys play?" she said "We didn't play anything." I said "Oh, what did you do then?" She said "We just, um, played a lot." lol Harper and I started cracking up and she said, over our laughter, "I mean, we didn't play any games!" =P
There were lots and lots of toads out and driving home, they were hopping all over the road. Harp kept talking about it and Lainey said "Happened, Daddy? Toads?" He couldn't tell her he was running over toads! He just told her they weren't very safe toads to hop in roads with cars on them. She is communicating so much now, just whatever random thing she might be thinking... I love it!

Various Updatish Sorts of Things
Garage Sale: Preparations are well under way. Today the chicas and I made three dozen pretzels. We only baked three of them (Lainey refused to eat hers - bonus! I love them (she's kind of an anti-bread girl anyway)) and we froze the rest. I am going to test it out tonight, cooking them out of the freezer. But I noticed a few weeks ago that they sell soft pretzels in the freezer section at Walmart (and dinner rolls!) so I thought it must be just fine to let them rise and then toss them in the freezer. The instructions on all those boxes just said stick them in the oven frozen. I guess I'll find out if it works. =P What doesn't work so well: freezing the pretzels onto waxed paper. It's kinda hard (okay nearly impossible) to peel the pretzels off without some paper sticking... Next two batches, maybe I'll try greased aluminum foil. At least (I think) the foil can be picked off after baking if it does stick. If anyone has any experience with this, clue me in, okay? I don't want to get stuck with metal pretzels. =P
When the girls wake up from their naps, I'm taking them to Alyssa's house to play while I borrow her truck, meet Luke at the church, and watch him load my tables for me. =P Then he'll follow me home, we'll get the tables in the garage, and I'll head back to get the girls. Or probably actually to stay and play because it probably won't take that long to get tables. It's going to be the second time I've dropped my kids off at a friend's house to play. The last time was in December. Weird, huh? It feels weird. Anyway, with tables the girls and I can start putting things on tables. They are all about helping with the garage sale and I love it! We made some signs today for various things and a sign for Emmy's little pretzel stand. =)
Quilting: I'm sooo close to done with that first quilt. I was all ready to say it is coming along wonderfully when I remembered the things I didn't like about it the other day, lol. I guess I'm over it. I didn't use spray basting (freaks me out when I'm pregnant) and I pinned but I had to repin after sewing some with the walking foot. I didn't quilt all the way across the quilt because I didn't want white stitches in the sashing (which is red with tiny white polka dots) so only the outside of the 9 squares are quilted and now I'm stippling the free space in those squares. Anyway a few of them turned out not entirely square because of the whole not going across the whole quilt thing... I don't really know what I would do next time to fix this problem. Except use spray basting... But anyway I think it won't be noticable once it's washed anyway and it's very, very cute. And I was thinkin' it's an old-fashioned style quilt (redwork in the squares) and I remember lots of things my grandma made that weren't 100% perfect but they still looked good anyway. So if she can do it, I can do it, right? =)
The Thumb: Emily completely and totally stopped sucking her thumb. Wait before you say yay... So the other day I was showing her how her thumb is almost completely healed and normal-looking like her other one. Well that afternoon, she popped her thumb into her mouth! Of course, Harp and I were shocked, and Harp asked why she did that. She said "Mommy said it was looking normal again!" He told her that didn't mean she could suck it, that she wasn't supposed to ever suck it again. I wish the face wasn't so vivid in my memory... She was SO sad. She didn't have a fit or anything, but she was very seriously struck with the realization that we meant she could never suck her thumb again. And she was very, very sad. She has snuck it in a few times since then and last night, for the first time in two weeks, she took the band-aid off and sucked her thumb. It makes me SO sad! She had stopped! Totally! And she is totally deciding to suck it. Harp said we'll just put the mitten back for a while. I hope it helps. But I really think the habit is broken at this point and she is just deciding to do it. She knows the dentist will still put the thing in her mouth if she doesn't stop completely and when she's reminded of that, she doesn't want to suck. But, still...
I dunno what else... Better go work on that quilt before kids get up. Later!

Randomness
Yesterday, Sarah Jo and Anna came over. Yay! =) We sat around the living room and talked for a couple of hours and ate sushi and strawberries. =P
Then we went to the Blanchettes' for dinner, which was fun. Em drove the kids' John Deere tractor all over their front yard. She did a really good job with it!
Lainey says "me-me" for excuse me. =) "Dummy" or sometimes "dum" is gum.
The other day Em was on the phone with Harp's mom and I overheard her telling how the toilet seat broke. Harp's mom asked what part and Em said "That part!" and then started laughing and said through the laughter "You can't see it, though, can you?" lol Later in the conversation though she still tried to "show" her other things.
Em was watching home videos with Harp and she wanted to watch when she came out of my belly. So we let her watch her birth and she was totally fine with it all. I was laughing through it because Harp was on the phone with Jim while it was on and I just thought it was too funny. =P Em wants to be there when the baby is born. I think she could handle it so I might let her come.
Lainey has been expressing her desires more recently. =P Today I turned on some music and she said "No... Ride?" She wanted Wild Ride (the VBS music) on! =P I asked her to say please and she did it so sweetly (she cocks her head to the side and says it in this sugary-sweet voice), so I turned it on for her. =P She also let it be known yesterday that she wanted her own pile of walnuts on the other bench instead of sharing a pile with Emily. =P
Well garage sale stuff is everywhere. I thought it would be good to plan ahead and not have a wreck of a house left after the garage sale (from quickly going through everything to find stuff to sell, which is what happened last time and the time before). Only it's not working out because now the house is just a wreck with garage sale stuff until the sale! Actually I have a Pack N Play and another pile in the corner of our room, some stuff on the futon, but most of it I put out in the garage on some wood between two chairs. Only thing is now we have to bring it all in so we can fit both cars in the garage because the weather has been really bad! So much for my bright idea. We may designate the toy room as the garage sale prep room until after the sale and then rearrange stuff how we want it after the sale (crib back up, etc).
Okay I have files now for the embroidery on that quilt, only now I can't find my flash drive and Harp has his on his keychain and he's at Lowe's. Agh. Maybe I'll scrapbook until he gets back. Later!

Stuff
Last night, Harp just put a Band-Aid on Em's thumb for the night. She has never actually kept it on, but last night, she did! She was so proud of herself, too! So this morning, I kind of wanted an excuse to go to Pump It Up with Harper, too, so we decided to celebrate that she chose not to suck last night by going to the pop-in playtime again. It was at the one on the other side of town today. It was fun and it had the same stuff, but I liked the other one better. We all had a blast. Harp got Emily to start climbing the big climbing wall in the obstacle course all by herself. It's probably 10-12 feet high and it's really steep. She did a great job!
We have the tornado channel on right now and I don't even like hearing about them! Yesterday, Harp's brother got caught in a tornado and drove through it. He went through the eye and then out the other side. He said later he saw the path of the tornado on TV and he was heading one direction along the road and it was going the other. Crazy!
Lainey says taco SO cute. It's between tacoo and how you'd say it in Spanish. I need a video! =P
I don't remember if I blogged about when my parents were coming and I was singing "Grandma and Grandpa are coming today" over and over and Emily started interjecting "B" so we were singing "Grandma B and Grandpa B are coming today." Tonight, Lainey kept putting her bowl on her head and asking us to sing her Happy Birthday (we have people wear silly hats at church on their birthday) so the third or so time I sang it to her, Em was done with singing it with me and decided instead to sing "again" after every line I sang. lol She just gets more and more fun. =P
Tonight Em had a Band-Aid on her finger for bed, but she took it off. She came out of her room and told me she thought she needed the mitten back on. I thought she was wise, realizing that she wasn't going to have the self-control to keep the Band-Aid on. Harp thought it was just an excuse to get up. =P He put habanero sauce under a new Band-Aid and told her how bad it would hurt if she took it off and sucked. We'll see in the morning what happened. =P
I did a lot of cleaning in my craft room today. I made some of those shelves like Jaime and I love it! They are so useful. I don't know what I'll do with the rest of the stuff in there... =P But I do really need to get it organized and I am actually motivated right now.
Lainey's been singing some of the words to the good night song for a few weeks. She sings night, tight, and bright. =P And she usually starts singing bright before we are there. =P She gets so excited it just comes out, lol. Too cute!
We decided around 6 to go for a bike ride and didn't really have a plan, but we biked to the Wisners' house and hung out there for a while and then came back. Lainey was so excited about the bike trailer that she laughed for the first few minutes. =P We stopped and grabbed some pinecones for the girls because they love the C is for Conifer song (you guessed - They Might Be Giants). Lainey sings "trees!" when we sing that song. =)
Okay I'm going to go find something to do... =) Night!

Harp watched a Herbie movie with the girls last night while I was at craft night. He said some rocks fell on Herbie and Lainey said "uh-oh!!!" =)
Emmy Stuff:
Emily is all about Big Brain Academy. We played it quite a bit with the Bourciers so now I'm kinda hooked on it again. =P Fun game. Well tonight Emily got a silver medal all by herself - not a smidgen of help from me - on Face Case (on easy). I had been trying for a platinum on easy right before I let her have a try and she got 90% correct in 1 min 6 sec. I got 90% correct in 57 seconds for my gold medal. I wonder if she will get fast enough to do that. It's only a difference of 9 seconds so I think it's possible! And I think that's insane. Emily is freakishly good at Block Spot, too, where you look at a rotating set of blocks and pick out of four rotating sets which one matches. It is so fun to play with her.
We have been playing a whole lot of Go Fish lately, too. =) We made a deck together with stickers from my stash. The cards don't all exactly match, but there are 4 butterflies, 4 ants, 4 balloons, etc. Emily LOVES to play Go Fish. She can't hold her cards without showing them, lol, but it's still a blast.
One night we were putting a Band-Aid on Lainey's finger (trying to stop the sucking since we keep all getting sick) before bed and Emily told me "I think if we put a mitten on her hand, that would be a good option." Hehehe! She later told me that a mitten wouldn't be a good option for her. =P Funny kid.
Well Em is on antibiotics for an ear infection and still coughing pretty icky coughs. Lainey is coughing occasionally. Harp feels awful tonight. I am happily well. =) Gonna go watch a documentary with my hero of a man. Later!

Well Em is on antibiotics for an ear infection and still coughing pretty icky coughs. Lainey is coughing occasionally. Harp feels awful tonight. I am happily well. =) Gonna go watch a documentary with my hero of a man. Later!

Reader!
Emily can officially read three-letter words all by herself! She also ready "silly" today - she sounded it out in one of the Dick and Jane stories. I got this collection of Dick and Jane stories at a garage sale for free. It was 10 cents but I got something that was 2 bucks and they said don't worry about the 10 cents. =P Emily loves the book and she can read so many of the words. Every age is so fun, but I always want to say this is the best age!
I think Lainey's at "the best age," too, when she's learning to talk more and more and sign more and more and really communicate what's going on in her cute little brain. =) Hehe and Lainey cracks us up when she gets upset (as in mad) - she yells jibber jabber like the elf woman in the Elfish Impersonator song.

Update
Hey! Well I have some time because I'm sitting here on "live chat" with our budget program and it's a lot more like "dead chat." Or like I'm the only one chatting... And every once in a while I get a response that doesn't seem like it's even meant for me.
Anyway so what do I blog about? Lainey is totally obsessed with shoes. She says "shoes" so cute! If she runs off, it's down the stairs to the landing, where I find her trying on her sister's shoes. =P
Lainey also says "ball" and "cheese." And she signs consistently for water and more and eat. =) I think we're through everything edible being milk. =)
So I got Harp yarn to make him a sweater when we went to that store in Andover. He wanted all charcoal but they only had 10 skeins and I needed 18. So we got half charcoal and half black. But then later he decided he didn't really want it to be striped after all. So we looked all over for more yarn but it's been out of production since 2005. I found charcoal on ONE website, at a store in New York. I called and they only had 10 skeins of it. I got 8 of them because I already had 10. I got them the other day and would you believe it is the same dye lot as the yarn I bought here? Crazy cool!
A couple weeks ago, I started smelling this funk in the kids' toy basket that I have in the living room. I could not figure out what it was. I even had Harp come smell it and make sure it wasn't my imagination. Well I dug around and didn't find anything. Then a week or so ago, Laina brought me the gallon bag of finger puppets we had in there. I said "sure I'll play finger puppets with you!" and as I took the bag, I smelled it. I opened the bag and POOF! Oh, it stunk so bad!! I dumped it out and there was a nasty, moldy, wretched-smelling piece of broccoli in the bag. Eeeew! I put all the puppets in my asparagus pot (has a mesh wire thing to steam with) and put baking soda in the bottom. They still stink after days in the pot. =(
What makes this story hilarious is that Harp's mom found some cauliflower in his drawer when he was little. Not that little, though, lol. =)
Em told me she was sleeping and Jonah brought her some eggs and put them by her bed. This is the first dream she's told me about that I think she really had. So cute!
My friend Chris called me from Russia the other day (Wed) and we had a really good, long conversation about life and faith. We were like best friends in high school and we used to stay up late having these "philosophical" conversations about the meaninglessness of life... lol Now he's calling me saying he knows he's alive for a reason and he wants the faith I have too and he is seeking God. I miss him. Pray for him, 'kay?
Well this live chat thing is still crazy-dead. I am ready to tell them to just not even worry about fixing my problem. For some reason, things are coming in in multiple accounts. I can just delete the ones that are wrong and update. But it's the second time it's happened (but for different accounts) so I was hoping they could fix it so it wouldn't happen again. Now I have to wait 2-4 days to update so they can look at it. Oh well. =\

New Van, Lainey's Big, Fun Family =)
Today we bought a van! Emily said "we need to get some babies to put in this van!" lol Cutie!
Harp took Laina home after we picked it up and grabbed some lunch. Em and I went shopping. We didn't get anything at Perfect Peace (they didn't have some advertised VeggieTales in yet) and then we went to Target. We found all these super-cheap cute kid shoes ($1.74 and $2-something - I got 5 of them) and got decaf coffee pods (can only buy them there) and a couple other things and then went to check out. They had yet another magazine with a completely naked woman on it, covering her boobs with flowers this time. So after I paid I kindly told them at customer service that this was not okay and that I didn't appreciate that there is nowhere for my kids to look in the checkout stand where they can't see this stuff. Well they basically said they couldn't do anything and they didn't really care. So then they brought a manager that could supposedly do something but then she told me the same thing - that she couldn't do anything about it either and that it was one of the most popular fashion magazines (Jane). She was kind of vague about who could possibly do something about it and if they ever would... So I just asked her if anyone ever would get rid of them. She said they'd been there as long as she had and no they wouldn't be changing it. I said okay then I would like to return everything I just bought and let you know I won't be shopping at Target anymore. UGH. I liked the shoes. Now I have to order coffee pods online or something. But seriously I am not funding the tiniest portion of that porn-displaying company's sickness. I called Harp and told him all about it and he said he was proud of me for returning the cute shoes and everything. =P lol
ANYway! So Lainey is SO big. She is riding facing forwards in the van! Tooooo cute! It has a video player and Lainey kept pointing to it and making noises, asking to watch something. =P She does that at home, too, to ask to watch a movie. lol What a cutie. She is so adorable. =)
Emily knows the whole ASL alphabet. I can sign a letter and she'll tell me what it is and she can do most of the signs by herself. We have an ASL video that Harp's aunt sent us when Em was really little and now we watch it all the time.
Tonight, we went driving in the van. =) We just wanted to go somewhere. So we went to Wichita and stopped at Goodwill and Hobby Lobby and then the good liquor store. This store has 987 different beers sold by the bottle plus other beers in 6-packs and stuff. And it's a clean store with no nastiness (unlike Target)!
Okay Harp and I are going to work on my kite for a bit before bed. It is so close to being done! =) Later!

Lego Builder
A couple days ago, I got Em a little Lego set. Her very own big girl Legos. =) It was one of those little $5 sets that makes 3 things (well and if you are adventurous you make your own but I'm not, although I did make a robot at her request last night). She is amazing! She could find any piece by looking at the directions. I would point to what was new in each picture and she would find the piece and usually put it in the right place all by herself. Now we'll have to try asking her what is new in each picture. She doesn't really get the arrows, I don't think (like how sometimes it uses arrows to show where two pieces attach) but if it's new in the picture she can usually do it. Craziness! So last night we were building something and I told her "Wow, Em, you're a real Lego builder!" and she kept telling Daddy "Daddy, I'm a Yego-builder!!!" She is so proud of herself. =P I am proud of my Lego-buildin' schmunky, too!

Em's First Invention
Emily fell down, so she got up and took a roll of duct tape to my mom and asked her to put it on her knees so if she fell again her knees wouldn't get scraped up. So my mom put duct tape on her knees. =P A little while later, Em did fall down again and the tape got mangled, but her knees were fine. Smart girl! =P

Quick - Lainey Milestones, Etc.
At Applebee's Thursday night, Em was eating her broccoli and kind of humming to herself and shaking her head around. Laina started to do it too. She knew we thought it was the cutest. =P Now if we say "Hey, Laina!" and shake our heads around, she does it too. It is so uncoordinated and babyish and cute! Awww, I love it!
Tonight, Laina started to sign 'more' and 'all done.' We are absolutely positive she understands 'more' (she kept doing it for more food) but the 'all done' she did just once and it could have been just mimicking us. But very very super cute anyway. She is so big! And she ate SO much tonight. She was so heavy when I put her to bed, lol.
We played Settlers of Catan during kids' naps and after they went to bed. Very very cool game. It will be more fun to play with more people, so we'll have to play tomorrow at Grammy's house.
Today we set up the Slip N Slide that Uncle Quin got the girls. =) And put the new slide at the beginning on it. Em thought that was great. =P And we put some water in the pool we got and Laina liked that. We did that before naps, but after naps and a Walmart trip, I let Em put another swimsuit on and play in the water while Harp made dinner (steak, mmm!) and I made granola bars. I watched her from the window and she picked up my shorts that I had worn swimming earlier. She dunked them in the pool and then I saw her going down the slide with them. It made me think of that Dr. Seuss story about the pale green pants with nobody inside them. Hehehe!! So I opened the door to ask if they were the wet orange shorts with nobody inside them and she was saying "Ohhhh, sweet baby!" to them. lol, ANYthing can be a baby. I love it! Even nothing can be a baby. =P She plays with invisible babies sometimes.
Anyway other randomness: Em talked to Quin on the phone today and without any prompting or anything she said "I really like the Slip N Slide you bought for me! I went on the slide onto my Slip N Slide!"
A couple of times in the last few weeks Em has told me "It's nice to meet you, Momma." =)
And today I told her "I'm so happy to be your Momma!" (something I say often) and she said "I'm so happy to be your daughter!" =)
Em sings entire songs by herself. Jesus Loves Me, I Am So Glad, Swing Low Sweet Chariot, I'm Gonna Sing, Angels Watching Over Me, I Will Sing of the Mercies... And more... Oh and the SUV song from VeggieTales. And the puppies song from the Esther VeggieTale. "Puppies are cuddly, puppies are cute. They're never nasty or mean. I'd give a home to all the lost puppies if ever one day I were queeeeeeeeeen!" lol I love when she sings those. That girl makes me smile. =)
Oh craft night was last night and it was just Emily Zerger and me. We had a good time though. I made Harper black chaps. He's going to be the bad guy in a drama thing too so we made his black. And I started to work on my shirt that isn't going to look that much like a cowgirl shirt but I found a good cowgirl shirt at a garage sale so that's okay. =P
Gotta ILL the square foot gardening book again because I know there was a decent section about natural ways to deal with problems. We have some plants yellowing from the bottom up and some leaves drying up but not wilting. We think it's just blight but we don't want to buy nasty chemicals without trying something natural first. I think the only other thing we saw that it could be (other than a fungus) was nematodes and that's unlikely 'cause the radishes we pulled up (and ate - spicy, spicy goodness!) had normal-looking roots. Oh and the book talked a lot about getting the most out of basil plants and I'm all about the basil. Mmmmm!
I have decided (yeah, without trying it still) that I have been in no way deprived by not learning how to can. Knowing that people have to challenge themselves to only using ingredients from their kitchen stash (or having a min number to use) just to use up canned stuff and get their space back... That is so not for me. But I'm also not going to waste food out of my garden. So we probably will can tomatoes. Pasta sauce and salsa and whatnot. But only stuff that I know absolutely for sure we will be eating and not have to force ourselves to eat.
Okay, I'm way tired and Harp's ready for bed, so later!
