My poor Laine has had a bloody mouth 3 times in the last week or so. When Ben was here, she was playing on the couch with him and the cushion had moved over the edge. She thought she was still going to be on the couch, but she wasn't and the cushion moved and she went face first into our coffee table. =( Then we were at the playground and she got out of a baby swing by herself and hit her lip on the way down. Bled again. She had a huge puffy lip and she called it her turtle lip. It sounded like toohduh-wip. =P It went away but then the other day she jumped off our bed into our dresser and got a turtle lip again. And bled. She has a big bruise on her forehead and we don't even know when it's from. =P She is so accident-prone. But she has fun. =)
Lainey says dee-wishish for delicious and lissy-wasso for delicioso. =P It's so cute when she tells me her dinner is lissy-wasso. =)
So this weekend is Derby Days and for the first year since we've been here, we're not going. Well no we did go to the parade - that counts! =)
Yesterday we went to Rock River Rapids with Scott and Alyssa. Our neighbor Dana was there with her son Brody. He is 3 and the girls always want to play with him even though they only played for like 30 minutes one day a few weeks ago. =P They want to bring him a bag of sunflower seeds. =)
Anyway then after RRR, we brought the kids home for a nap (Lainey is the only one that took one) and then we headed out for the parade. Met Scott & Alyssa there too. The parade was mostly VBS shopping. But there was candy to be had, which is the whole point of it, I think, for the kids. =) We saw Katen on the float for their church (they were all there but we only saw her) and the Cookie Bookie ladies walked in the parade and gave out candy. So that was fun for them too.
Then we met Tatum at their church for a block party. Emily gave a ton of her candy to Kenna and Katen since they didn't get any on the float. And Lainey gave a ton of her candy to Miss Tatum. =) She said she would eat one candy and give the rest to Miss Tatum. So cute! So she and Miss Tatum ate a bunch of candy together and Tatum told her to take it home and if there was any left on Sunday she could have some then (we're having a girl party with Tatum and her girls tomorrow night). It's all gone now. =P Hehe! But it was very sweet. Lainey really loves Miss Tatum. She gets good Lainey snuggles. =) Lainey snuggles are so wonderful! =)
Anyway what else? The girls have a joke that they think is hilarious. Lainey asked something about Hoke-a-homa (after a conversation about Jim being in Oklahoma) and Emily said "Where's that? Where they do the Hokey Pokey?" and cracked up. It cracked Harper up and then it cracked me up that it cracked everyone else up and now it's been repeated many, many times. Em will ask someone to say "Hoke-a-homa" so she can ask if it's where they do the Hokey Pokey... =)
So I kind of ditched my deals blog because it got tedious and the novelty wore off. I'm still glad to get all sorts of stuff for free or cheap but I don't care to take the time to blog it. =P But hey if you like root beer floats, they're free at Sonic on June 3rd after 8:00. I guess they do this every year but I didn't know about it until I started reading coupon blogs. Anyway it's at all Sonics so you don't have to call ahead. And some Krispy Kremes are giving away 1 free donut per person on Friday for National Donut Day. I think I'll skip that one (unless Harper finds out about it, lol). But I'm thinkin' about the root beer floats. =)
Rebekah Jane pulled up again today! She hadn't since she did in Joshua's crib. I can see a tooth, too, but I've been able to see it for weeks now. Don't know when it's gonna pop out!
I just ate a TON of guacamole. Harper makes the best guacamole. =) Mmm... seviche... I wanna go to Mexico. Harp said if he gets a job soon and has time to spare maybe we'll go to Mexico. =P Probably won't actually happen, but I can dream about stuffing my face full of seviche and guacamole! =P
I taught Emily about caps lock and now it seems like every time I sit down to the computer, caps lock is on. lol! Funny kid...
One night we finished eating dinner on the deck and I asked the girls what they'd like to do as a family. Emily said, excitedly, "Maybe some SCHOOL!" lol We did some school. =)
That reminds me that this morning Emily came down with a book that we hadn't read to her. It's called The Biggest Bear, I think. It's pretty long. Anyway it's about a boy who wants to have the biggest bearskin and he goes out to shoot a bear but finds a baby bear and he raises it. Ends up having to try to get it to live in the woods again bc it's too big and eats everyone's food, etc. But it keeps coming back and eventually he and the bear get trapped by some zookeepers and the bear goes to live at the zoo. Emily told me all about the book and how the boy fed it maple sugar that he got at the store and just all sorts of little things. I sat down and read it while she ate her breakfast to see if she was right (not that I really doubted her). She was! =P
I guess I should pack some in the basement... Later!

My Turtle & LPS
Emily bought me a Littlest Pet Shop toy with the money she made selling those Oreo snack cakes. =) I picked the turtle. It is SO cute and I love it extra-much because she bought it for me. You know she has never ever spent any of her money on herself? And it's not at my prompting, either. I have never even suggested she spend her money on someone else. I love that girl!
Lainey got rich all of a sudden. =) When she was a baby, I cashed all the checks people sent her and I had this bank envelope that had her money in it. I had wondered what happened to it but figured I had spent it all on her and just forgotten. Well I was packing up stuff in my room last week or the week before and I found the envelope in my night stand! It had $40 and some change in it. She really didn't understand that that meant anything for her, but Emily and I clued her in that she could buy toys with it if she wanted to. =P She bought some Littlest Pet Shop stuff. A big pack of 10 animals and then another smaller pack with a cat in it. She also bought some bubbles and a baseball mitt with a velcro ball (really cool!) at Walgreens.
Anyway then a few days later we got an email that someone thought her daughter-in-law was selling LPS stuff at her garage sale. (I had posted a WTB on Craigslist a while before this.) So we went to it and it was Little People. But we decided to stop by one garage sale on the way home. It had TONS of LPS stuff. Two houses (the ones that I thought were the coolest!) and a ton of animals - including my turtle and 6 or 7 of the animals that were in Lainey's bag. LOL! I was going to pick out the ones that we already had but then I figured (a) it's incredibly hot and I don't want to be out here and (b) these sell for quite a bit on ebay and this is dirt cheap, so we got them all. Loads of pets, accessories, the two houses, and a little house for $20.
Lainey's 10-pack was $24, the cat was $5, and my turtle was $6. I tried to explain to Emily that we just bought way more stuff for way less money and I'm not really sure she understood. I thought it would be a great lesson for my kids if they could only grasp it. Maybe I can think of a way to make it clearer to Emily. Any ideas for helping my girls understand? I want to make sure Emmy doesn't think I'm saying I wish she hadn't gotten me my turtle because that's not at all the case.
Anyway I still cherish my turtle and he's separate from the others. =) They are keeping the extra turtle 'cause he's too cute to get rid of! =P And his little cart was missing the flag in the garage sale bag. Someone had bought one bag of animals/accessories before we got there and they didn't sort the stuff at all.
Okay Bek's up! Later!

Helpin' Kids, Etc
Lainey was a "good jobber" again today. =) This morning I took a big long nap. =P Harp took the kids to find a battery for Lainey's potty watch and then to Atwoods to see the chickies (but they didn't have any). There's free popcorn at Atwoods and they all came home with popcorn. Harp came in and handed me his bag and fed me some while I tried to stay asleep, lol. Then he left and I fell back asleep with the bag of popcorn in my hand. Hehe. Good nap. =)
As I got up, the girls were going down. They both told Harper they were tired and wanted a nap at 11:30! I think the BBQ yesterday must have worn them out because they weren't up late or anything. =P
After the kids got up, we went for a walk to the mailbox. Then we got swimsuits on and washed the cars. They had so much fun washing them - especially Daddy's car (maybe because it was first, lol) - and then they helped me "chomp" the dead peonies off with the "chompers" (ratchet pruners). Bek was in my arms for most of it but then we put her in the Pack N Play for the last 5 or 10 minutes. Laine showed Bekah an iris and Bek grabbed it. I took it away from her and it looked fine so I just gave it back to Lainey. Not long after, Bekah spat up an iris petal. Bleh! It was so stinky and gross that I took her in and gave her a bath. Then all the kids ended up in the tub. =P
Anyway then the kids asked for fruit salad so I told them they could help me make it. They cut up bananas and watermelon to go in it while Harp cut up kiwi and 2 kinds of apples and I dumped some canned pineapple in. =P I made fire and ice for the rest of the pineapple pieces. We have a fresh pineapple in the fridge and I can't wait to eat it with fire and ice. Mmmmm! =)
Bek has been happy about food again, so yay! I made a bunch of rice cereal cubes today. I'll have to do an organic veggie trip and make her lots of different stuff. Em and Laine will have fun helping with that! =) Yay for little girls!
Lainey has started calling the potty in Monkey Bathroom "Monkey Pot." It's not the monkey pot. It's just Monkey Pot. (Remember when it was "Green Potty?" lol) She told Harper the other day "This one time, Emmy was on Monkey Pot and I needed to go on Monkey Pot. So I told her I have to go and she got off of Monkey Pot!" lol And it had just happened, too. =P
Lainey called Harper her "big man" the other day instead of just her "guy." =)
Emily likes to make up blended words. =P She told me she was wearing a "tress" the other day - a tank top dress. =P

Cleaning & Things
Hey! Well I have a lot to blog but I don't remember what all it is. =) I need to read my own blog to know what I posted. Ben was here Sunday and Monday and then on Thursday, he came and spent the night. He left for Oklahoma on Friday morning. We had a great time with him, as always. =) He's one of those friends that you can not see for four years and then it's like you've never been apart when you're together again. Hmm, that reminds me of Bree. And Hannah. =)
Anyway yesterday it was our turn to clean the church. I don't think we have done it since the time Lainey got a foosball stuck in her mouth (she didn't choke, but she couldn't get it out) and I thought we can never do this alone again! Well it's been like a year I'm sure. This time it was awesome! My girls are the rockin'est cleaners ever! For being 2 and 4. ;) They do a great job at home too but we never clean SO much in one day. Harper vacuumed the whole church. I put toilet cleaner in the toilets while the kids got the paper towels for the bathrooms. Then Lainey and I swept the bathrooms and the kitchen while Emily went and got ALL the trash bags out of ALL the Sunday school rooms and bathrooms and stuff. Then I brushed the toilets and Lainey followed me to flush them all. By that point Bekah was needing attention so I was actually holding Bekah while brushing potties so it really helped a ton that Lainey was my flusher. =) Em and Laine each brushed one potty too. I don't like the thought of them spashing themselves with those chemicals so I hesitate to let them do this. They never have splashed it, but it just freaks me out. I think it only makes it more exciting for them when I DO let them do it. Hehe! They like to clean toilets... =P Then Lainey and Emily put new trash bags in all those trash cans while I wiped down the potties (still with Bek - I got an arm workout too, hehe) and then Harper was done vacuuming so he held Bekah while I swept up my piles and threw them away. No bad attitudes, and 100% helpfulness. Woo hoo! =)
We're heading to Scott and Alyssa's to cook out, so blog ya later! =)

I Want To Sleep But Not Without Harper (buthe'splayingavideogame)
Bentos & Stuff
Okay Harper has me wanting bento stuff. =P I just made a huge wishlist on ichibankanusa.com and I want to buy stuff!! lol Maybe he'll get a job and I can get some stuff. They have the cutest hardboiled egg molds... and food picks... and boxes... and food cutters... My kids would love it! Go, L3, go! Hire my man! lol =)
Lainey calls herself a "good jobber" when she does a good job at anything. =P Her new catch phrase is "I'm okay" - after she falls down or trips or otherwise injures herself. =P It's very cute. =)
A few weeks ago, some neighbor kids came and sold us a Slim Jim at our door, so Em has been wanting to sell something. So we scored a deal on Nabisco Snack Cakes 100 Calorie Packs at Target (some Oreo-like cookie things - we haven't tried them) and she sold 6 packs for $1 apiece this afternoon. =P She wants to buy a Littlest Pet Shop toy or buy me some clothes (her idea) or buy me a Littlest Pet Shop toy. =)
I can not believe it is 10! I looked at bento stuff WAY too long! Night!

L3
Oh yeah! And Harper has an interview with L3 on June 1. Yay! They are flying him down the day before and then back on that day, so he won't have a lot of time down there. I kinda wish he'd asked if he could just be reimbursed for a drive down there so we could visit Longview, but not sure that's a proper thing to do for an interview. ;) =) =)
Priceless
This is the most adorable thing!! =P I was in the basement with Lainey Joy packing stuff up. I realized it had been a while since I made tortilla dough and I needed to go upstairs and make the tortillas. When Lainey and I got upstairs, we found Harper and Emily making them. Harp was cooking some on the griddle while Emily was pressing the next one in my tortilla press (she did them all, actually). The cutest thing was that Emily was wearing a baby sling that I had made her with Big Big A Baby in it. =P Isn't that adorable? She looked like a sweet little mommy, making tortillas with her baby in a sling. =P
Ben Hager (a good college friend) has been here from Alabama and Jim was here for the weekend from Oklahoma (he's working down there for a couple of months). We got to spend time with both of them this Sunday and we got to see Ben more yesterday. We have been abnormally busy, but busy socializing. =) Hehe! It's been fun. I don't know if I mentioned that we went to the Nusses' house for dinner on Saturday night. Probably not because we haven't really slowed down since then. =) Anyway we've been having fun!

Tigers & Things
Today I got some boxes packed! Woo hoo! The upstairs is almost completely done! And the main floor is also almost completely done (maybe one more box to go?) so we are really getting somewhere! The basement won't be insignificant, but it won't be too bad, I don't think. =)
Tonight we had dinner with some new friends, the Meades. Dawn is Jim's sister (as in Jim and Tatum) and she and her husband Jason just moved here from Washington (where Jim and Tatum moved from, too). They have three very sweet daughters (5, 7, and 9 years old) who are such a good example for my girls. =) We had a great time with them! Emily thought it was cool that they are reading Little House in the Big Woods right now! =)
Em's been enjoying Little House on the Prairie. The other day she picked it up and started reading the next chapter. Then when we did read that chapter together she was like "We already read this part." So I think she actually comprehended what she read on her own. Pretty cool!
Tomorrow the tiger exhibit opens at the zoo and we are going first thing in the morning. That is a relative term now that Daddy is home. =) Somehow we manage to not get going until around 9 these days, but it is really nice! =P And I am excited to see the tigers! =)
Bekah has definitely opened a new chapter in Abbot family life. =P It's much different having a hilariously mobile child who likes to sample everything. =) She bit off half a receipt yesterday. I got it from her, but whoa. =P Gotta watch what we leave around! lol At least she hasn't eaten a "yuckydead junebug" yet (that was Lainey).
We have peonies blooming in our front yard and Emily cannot say peony without a LOT of effort. It sounds just like panty. She has been talking about the panties in our yard and smelling them. Hehe! =)

Kid Stuff
Bek is crawling all over now. She is so cute! I may have blogged once that she decided food was interesting, but that lasted like one day and now she's not interested. =P Oh well! She's chunky enough! =)
Harper was talking to Lainey the other day about how she sucks her finger because it's a habit and not because she's trying to be bad. She giggled and said "I have an Abbot habit!" =P
Yesterday I told Laine to go get her shirt on. She said "Where's my shirt-on?" She was totally serious. =P lol
Lainey has been making use of the word "whobody." =)
Gonna watch a movie with Harp. Later! =)

Has It Been That Long?
Hmm. I haven't blogged in a while. It's been kind of like a perpetual weekend ever since Harp finished with work. =) It's been a whole lot of fun. Harp said today we need to stop having so much fun and get our house packed up! =)
When we were at KFC the other day (for a free meal - yay for coupons) Laine finished up and then knocked her whole tray off the table. A ton of green beans (and green bean water) went right into Bek's car seat. Fortunately, I was holding Bekah. =P But that car seat was gross!! lol Their green beans are mush and they just smashed into the seat when I tried to clean them up. Eew. =P Yup, disaster-prone! Hehe! Lainey's such a cutie. =P
Tonight, Laine brushed her own teeth with the electric toothbrush. Got toothpaste all over her leg and inside the toothpaste cap just trying to get it on the brush. =P Then when she was done brushing, she didn't turn the brush off before she took it out of her mouth and it flew all over her and all over the bathroom. We all just cracked up. What're ya gonna do?! =P lol
CK was over here the other day and she has this awesome, beautiful curly hair. Lainey asked her "How did you get circle hair?" =) Hehe! I'll have to get some of those foam rollers and give Lainey circle hair sometime. =)
I'm scrapbooking! Gonna go scrapbook some more... =)

Pulling Up, Bubbles, Potty Baths...
Yesterday when we were at Alyssa's house, I changed Bek in Joshua's room. I had flipped the top off of their wipe warmer and it landed in the corner behind the rocking chair. So I stuck Bekah in Joshua's crib while I fixed it. When I turned around, she was standing!
She is also getting very, very mobile. =) It's a funny sort of crawl, so I'm not sure I'd say she's crawling yet, but she gets in crawling position but then puts her bum down on her feet and scoots with little tiny crawl-steps. =P They're sort of morphing into a real crawl.
This morning I took the big girls to RaeAnn's for Mommy and Me time. It's a gymnastics and dance place and it was a free morning for Parents As Teachers. We drove to the wrong place first (I thought I knew where it was but it was a different gymnastics place - I had no idea there was more than 1 in Derby...) and then I came home and Google mapped it and it took me to absolutely nowhere. Came home again and called RaeAnn and asked her and then finally made it about 45 minutes late, but we still had a half an hour to play and I'm glad we still went. =) I should learn to take my cell phone with me!! =P The girls weren't at all upset that we drove around for almost an hour or that we missed over half of it, so I'm glad. I felt bad because they had been looking forward to this for weeks.
The girls' attitudes were over-the-top good today. Not sure what's up. =P lol At dinner, Em even said "You guys are the best parents!" She wasn't a fan of her dinner, either, but she ate it all happily. Makes you wonder if they have something planned for tomorrow. =) lol, I'm just kidding... =) But they were extra good today.
We went out after dinner and blew bubbles. Lainey was so giddy over popping them with this hand wand that she was popping them before we even finished blowing them. So Harp made it into a game where he'd blow a bubble and they couldn't pop it until he said get it! =) Lainey thought that was a blast. I don't know how much bubble water Bekah licked off of various things, lol. I went and pulled some weeds in the garden while Harp kept blowing bubbles with the girls and every time I looked she had something different in her mouth. =P
Speaking of sad things happening to Bekah... It was bound to happen, wasn't it? I took her potty tonight right before dinner and she is getting so good at sitting on the pot that I held her with one hand while I moved my hair and adjusted my glasses. Well she did a big wiggle and then - plop! Poor thing! lol At least her face didn't go in. She got a bath in the sink right away. Eew! I wondered if she would go on potty strike because of it, but she hasn't. =)
=P lol At dinner, Em even said "You guys are the best parents!" Wainey
I love how Laine calls herself "Wainey." Today, we were all hanging out on the deck and Harp told Laine she was pretty banged up (she has bruises and scrapes on her knees - two big falls in one day). She said "Yeah, but I still Wainey." =)
We're heading over to Alyssa's house to play in Hannah's new sprinkler. Fun! =) And no issues over Em's swimsuit this time. She came and asked me which one I wanted her to wear. I told her I would let her pick. She said "Yeah, but I want to sacrifice for you and let you pick, Mom." =) I picked her pink one. I think it's the one she wanted to wear today. When she put it on, she commented that the back wasn't very modest. It's a racerback Speedo. I'm glad she cares to be modest, so I don't know if I should tell her not to wear it if she doesn't think it's modest... But I told her I thought it would be okay because it just looks like a racing swimmer's swimsuit. It's not low in the back or anything. =P
Lainey's needing help finding her suit... Later! =)

Funnies, Stuff
This morning, Em was playing with Bek. She said "Sometimes Bekah pinches my cheek and her fingernails hurt really bad! But it's okay. 'Cause I love her. I love her too much!" =)
Laine was sitting on my lap while I was on the phone with my mom and she started touching my neck and my face. I heard her whisper "You have a lot of nipples on your face, Mom." =P
We got the walker out for Bekah and she loves it! We call it her car. =)
Today has been SO SLOW! Not in a bad way. I just couldn't believe at 10-something that it wasn't 2 and now at 2-something it feels like it should be 6. =)

Emoticons
Anyone ever looked up emoticons on Wikipedia? Eastern Asian emoticons are kinda cute... =) The random things you look up when you have an inquisitive 4-year-old... =)
Paintballs...
The bucket full of water in my bathroom sink reminds me to blog this... =)
Yesterday, the kids went out on the deck and came running back in. Em said "There's are paintballs on our slide!" We were wondering what could have happened because our back yard is fenced in and we don't have paintballs out anywhere that the kids could get to them, if we even have any anymore. But Em was sure there were paintballs on the slide. =)
Harp went out and looked and came back in laughing. "They're white paintballs with black specks in them...bird paintballs!" LOL Em thought it was hilarious when she realized what that meant.
She brought a huge bucket into our bathroom and filled it up in the sink. We had to leave before she could finish what she was doing (trying to go wash the bird paintballs off the slide) and I didn't notice the bucket until late last night. It is so full that I can't get it out of the sink without dumping it all over the bathroom, so I'm glad her task was aborted, lol! Gotta find something to bail out some of that water... =)

Boring
So why don't I have anything to blog recently?! No I'm not bored and I don't think our life is boring. =P But my blog has been. Sorry. Don't know what to say. =)
Today after naps, we hit up Walgreens, Kmart, and Target. We got home so late that we just ate cereal for dinner. =P Oh, well. It was fun anyway!
We have a ton more moving boxes - the other day Bekah was not feeling well and she was up a bunch at night starting at 3. By 6 I had decided to just get up with her for the day, so she and I went to Walmart and got a bunch of boxes. =) It was kind of fun leaving and getting home before anyone else was awake. =)
I want to scrapbook for some reason! I haven't in a long time, but I just feel like it. But I need to pack some more first. =)
When Lainey wants me to hold her, she says "I need you for hands, Momma." Today at Kmart she said "Momma, will you hold me all the way up on your belly?" lol =) She is so cute.
When we got to Target, Harp couldn't find his wallet. From the very back of the van, we hear "I took care of it for you, Daddy!" Lainey had it. And it is missing stuff. He found most of it, but is missing a credit card. He doesn't use it, but someone else might. =P So he's on the phone right now trying to do something about it...

Efossagus
Haha!! I was reading old blog posts and remembering how Emily could tell you where her antecubital fossa was at 2 years old... Well the other day she pointed to it and told me it was her efossagus. lol I said no, you know what it is, silly girl! But she was serious! She had totally forgotten. I told her it was her antecubital fossa and that her esophagus is the place her food goes when she swallows, on the way to her stomach (she used to know the whole digestive system in order too, lol). She was SO frustrated and insistent that I was wrong and that it WAS her efossagus. =P The way this girl is, I hope she's not mad at me someday for every cute thing I've ever blogged about her. =P
