Walkin' Laina

I don't know if I've said that Laina has been walking really well since we went to Osage Park last week. It still catches Harper off guard when she comes walking into the room. =P It's so cute! Today at the park, she walked barefoot on the mulch. Emily refused to walk on that stuff for a long time! Too funny.

Lego Builder

A couple days ago, I got Em a little Lego set. Her very own big girl Legos. =) It was one of those little $5 sets that makes 3 things (well and if you are adventurous you make your own but I'm not, although I did make a robot at her request last night). She is amazing! She could find any piece by looking at the directions. I would point to what was new in each picture and she would find the piece and usually put it in the right place all by herself. Now we'll have to try asking her what is new in each picture. She doesn't really get the arrows, I don't think (like how sometimes it uses arrows to show where two pieces attach) but if it's new in the picture she can usually do it. Craziness! So last night we were building something and I told her "Wow, Em, you're a real Lego builder!" and she kept telling Daddy "Daddy, I'm a Yego-builder!!!" She is so proud of herself. =P I am proud of my Lego-buildin' schmunky, too!

As you can see, we're feeling quite a bit better today. Yesterday I still felt weak and tired. Today I'm not so tired. I took a sudafed and a guaifenesin this morning and I'm hoping it will all be gone by tonight. Tomorrow we are planning on swimming with Emily and her kids at their friend Betty's house. She is an elderly lady who used to teach swimming lessons and has a huge warm pool in her backyard. She loves to have kids over and maybe she'll help me get Lainey under the water. =P Harp was swimming all the way across the pool at 7 months but it still freaks him out for me to put Lainey under. He'll let me do it a few times but he won't let me let go of her. =P Maybe if Betty does it he won't worry about it...

Well I need to get my bread in the oven (mmm!) and think about what else I have to do today. Later!

I had a hard time getting good pics at this. I need a serious lesson using my flash, I think. I probably deleted 80% of the pictures I took. But some of these are good. =P

Yuck

Not sure if it's allergies or if I'm actually sick, but I felt lousy today. This morning I actually spent a while on the floor in the kitchen, afraid if I moved I'd pass out or throw up, and cold but sweaty. The rest of the day wasn't like that, but kind of achy, a dull headache, plugged nose, and sore throat. Mostly tired. Harp has started feeling a little yucky too so maybe I am sick. Em has been snotty for a few days too but I thought it was allergies because I was having allergies then too.

Anyway yesterday I went to Tatum's Tastefully Simple party. I got some Asian stuff, which means Harp will probably like it. =) If he comes home and I am cooking anything Asian, he is right there cookin' with me. =) Tatum gave us a ticket to the summer reading program party at Rock River Rapids. We had signed up for summer reading, but by the time we signed up there were only 3 weeks left and we didn't read enough in those three weeks. Kind of a bummer because if we had signed up at the beginning, we definitely would have read more than enough. Anyway so they had two extra tickets and they gave us one (that got us all in free). So we had a fun time with them and saw the Grabaus and the Corteses while we were there. It was from 7:45 to 9:30, so it was a late night for the girls.

Today we didn't do much of anything. Harp went to the church to get sound set up and waited until someone came that he could hand it off to and then he came home. And we just canceled small group.

Girls are in bed early and we're going to watch a movie and go to bed. Later!

Friends & Playin' & Stuff

Yesterday, we invited Tatum and Jim over for dinner. The kids had a fun time playing and we had fun talking. =) Harper and Jim had never really met before and they have everything in common. It's kinda funny now that they hadn't really talked before. Any guy that doesn't like sports and has made a flame thrower with a Teddy Ruxpin's eyeball motor is a guaranteed friend of my husband, lol. Anyway we had a lot of fun.

Today we finished cleaning out the 4Runner. Well yesterday we took everything out of it (and 90% of that is still in a laundry basket in the garage but at least it's not in the car) and started to vacuum. Today I finished vacuuming. Then we went to a couple of garage sales (bought nothing) and came home for Laina to have a nap. Emmy and I cleaned the bathrooms and then watched the beginning of Finding Nemo, snuggling on the couch. I did Bible study though during Nemo. Then Laina woke up and I called Nellie and we went over to the Wisners' to pick up a book for Harp (a commentary on Exodus - he's teaching small group again Sunday) and then Nellie and Joseph came with us to Book-A-Holic's bag sale. $5 for a Walmart bag full. I didn't find a whole lot this time. Nellie found the most and Joseph found a few things. So we just put it all in one bag. Good deal. Then we went to McAlister's for lunch, I dropped them off, and we came home. The girls are napping and Harp is on his way home. Yay! =) I want to run to the ESC today so hopefully I remember before they close. I can't take the kids in so it's kind of hard to get to go. =)

Garage Sales & Thieves

Today I was cleaning out the car to sell it. The 4Runner has engine problems and Harp thinks it's best to get rid of it before it doesn't run. It would cost so much to rebuild the engine (not to mention we'd spend a good while with no car) that it really wouldn't be worth it, especially because we'll be selling it when we have another baby (and hopefully that won't be years off). So anyway we went to the car wash that's 15 seconds from our house to use their vacuum thing. Em had to go potty so we came home and saw that someone on our street was having a garage sale. Before we went back to the car wash, we stopped at it because it was where I got some really awesome deals last year. Wow, it was even better this year. I got super-cute jeans for the girlies for really cheap. 6 pair and 3 shirts for $3.50. And these are brand new-looking, nice jeans - Gap, Old Navy, Levi's... Wow. And all of the size 4T's I got were flares. So cute! =P All the shirts were Gap & Old Navy, too. I also grabbed a bag of training pants for a buck. Em's been doing great but maybe I'll use them with Laina eventually. $1 for 6 is way better than $7 for 3 at Walmart! I got 2 Skip-Its for a quarter apiece. Very cool because I have friends with bigger kids (Katy and Tatum) that probably get bored with our little kid toys. =P I also got some more of those roller skates that go over your shoes with knee pads and elbow pads for $2. So now we can skate when little friends come over, too. =) These have Barbie on them - yuck. I might mark it out. It came in a bag with a cheerleader Barbie on it. Eew, that's going in the garage sale pile. Anyway that was a fun garage sale... =)

About thieves... I don't think I've ever blogged about this because there was no point but now there is. Please pray for all of this stuff with OU medical center and our car and health insurance to be over with. And for us to not have to pay these bills. Harper is having to dig through stuff and get records from everywhere from the car wreck we had in November. We are pretty sure the health insurance didn't pay what they were supposed to after the car insurance maxed out. Besides that, they charged for morphine and percocet and some other drug and Emily never had ANY drugs. We think they charged these on both days, too. They definitely did on the second day. And that day is such a scam anyway. They called us the day after we were in the hospital and said someone else looked at Em's x-rays and they think something is wrong and that we need to get to an ER immediately. They won't tell us WHAT they think is wrong until we go in. So we get there and are admitted, still not knowing why. They did another CT scan but the nurses were all telling us oh they thought her neck was broken but if it was broken she wouldn't be acting fine. You would know something was wrong. We were slightly annoyed that they called us back for that instead of saying hey we just want to make sure she's acting fine... But we didn't care because (a) we were just so happy she was alive and (b) we figured the insurance would cover it all anyway. Now their stupid scam is maybe going to cost us money. But here is the other dumb thing. On the bill we just got it says the balance from the last bill is like 1300 or something. Then there is a payment of 3500ish, only they entered it as a thing to bill us, not as a payment (although it says it's a payment). So the total is what like 4800. So Harp called and they said no their computer shows the total is the 1300. But that's supposedly the balance from the previous bill, before this payment from insurance. We have no idea what is going on still and everyone we talk to is daft beyond belief. Hrmph, sorry if you didn't want to hear my little rant. But still please pray that this would all be figured out correctly and soon and that we can talk to some decently intelligent people.

Osage Park w/ Emily P.

Today we went to Osage Park and had a picnic with Emily, Caleb, and Eden. Emily Claire was such a big helper this morning. We made bread together and then made mango sorbet and dipped a pack of strawberries in chocolate. Then we got things together for the picnic. She helped me wash strawberries and cherries and put things in little Tupperware-ish containers. She helped me get Lainey's swimsuit, she helped me sweep and mop... She helped me put everything away when we got home, too. Oh and this morning I told her to go up and put her jammies (that were still on her) in her jammie drawer, her diaper in the trash can in her room, and then go potty in Momma's bathroom. And then get some clean panties on and come back down. She did it! She is such a big girl! She is back to not having accidents all the time. She hasn't had any in a couple of days and she stayed dry for her nap yesterday, too. Whew!

Lainey wanted to walk a whole lot. =) She really took off.

It is so cool that Em likes to run through these. She's getting over her thing about water in her face. =P

Em does this cute gallop when she's excited. She did it ALL over the park, pretty much the whole time we were there. =) She was giddy.

Playing @ the Keltons'

Yesterday, we went to the Keltons' for the afternoon. I put Em down a little early and woke her up from her nap to go. She played well, despite being a little sleepy. =P We had a really fun time.

Silas

Their cat had kittens and this one was so sweet. It didn't mind Lainey petting it (whapping it repeatedly in the head) or Em carrying it around. =P

My big standing girl. She took 9 steps at their house!

Lainey Likes

Lainey gets giddy when we turn on the VBS music. She claps after the songs and during the one that we clap in (there are motions to all of them). The two songs that have a lassoing motion, she waves her arms around at the right times, too.

Lainey is a meat freak. Chicken, beef, fish... And she loves tofu. A couple nights ago, I was giving her carrots and mushrooms and cucumber and meat (from chef salad) and I thought she was just chowing down. I realized that she was just discarding (onto the floor) everything that wasn't meat. =P It's so funny to me that she likes meat so much.

Laine

Lainey shakes her head no when you ask her a question. Any question. =)

Lainey's First Pigtails & More

From our spur-of-the-moment garage sale on Saturday... =) Made a little over $100 in the morning. Nothing in the afternoon, but we got the garage cleaned up before we put everything away. =) Oh the last pic is of her teeth. =)

Emmy loves her bunny robe. =)

I gave Laina pigtails for church yesterday. Ow, she said. Well it was more like aaaaaaaaaaah, uh, uh, UH! I don't think she thought it was worth it. =P Maybe we'll let the hair grow a little more. =P But she sure was cute.
