Em randomly says "that's funny!" She likes to be part of conversation. =) We even heard her say it in the middle of the night one night.
We were swimming and Em got her face wet. I asked her if she wanted to give Lainey a wet kiss. She nodded and stuck her hand in the water and wiped it on Lainey's head and then kissed the wet spot on her head. =) Cuteness!
I was trying to teach Em to blow bubbles in the pool and she didn't want to put her mouth under the water, so she made this funny sound like she was blowing bubbles and wiggling her mouth around. I should video it... It just doesn't make any sense to read it. =P
Emily had this rubber frog thing that you fling like a rubberband and it broke. She matter-of-factly announced that it had a car wreck.

Trip
So... Hmm. We got to Pueblo Friday night, came to Greeley Sat afternoon after seeing my Aunt Mary Ann and my Uncle Larry, who had 6 soda kegs and the CO2 thing that he was happy to get rid of and give to Harp. Harp has been wanting soda kegs for months. Hope they all fit in the van. =)
Then Sunday was Christmas Eve and we did presents with my parents and sister at my sister's house and then all had dinner here at Harp's parents' house (with Nonny and Poppy and Candace and Brittan too). Then Monday we spent here and my parents came over that afternoon.
Tuesday I don't really remember what we did. Oh but I made a puppy like Saige's.
Wednesday we went up to the mountains and saw Cathy and Kerri (the owners of the scrapbooking store in Frisco). Emily's their store mascot and they were so excited to see her. Cathy was there alone when we got there so we talked to her for a while. Kerri was meeting her there at 6 to go to dinner, so I stopped by because we just happened to be eating at the brewery next door at 6. Cathy didn't tell Kerri we were there and Cathy didn't tell me that Kerri got engaged a few days before, so we both had surprises. =) So anyway then they came over to the restaurant to see Emily and Lainey before they went out. Oh and RJ came to dinner with us. He's one of Harp's best friends from high school. We hadn't seen him since Em was Lainey's age. Younger, actually.
Thursday, I stayed with the girls and everyone else went skiing or snowboarding. We did a little shopping in the morning to get the girls swimsuits. I went to the Carter's outlet and they only had 2 suits in Em's size. One was a bikini - automatically out. And the other was ugly, ugly, ugly. I had already called every other kid store and looked at Walmart and I didn't think I'd find another suit in the county, so I bought the hideous swimsuit. But then someone said to try Target and they had a cuter one for Em that was cheaper, too. So I got it. But then it was way past naptime, so I didn't return the Carter's suit.
Later, after everyone got back, Terrie and Em and I went back to return the swimsuit and ended up shopping. She bought the girls tons of way cute clothes. Old Navy had jeans for 3 and 4 dollars apiece. It was crazy. I called Ashley and Katy and asked if they wanted me to shop for their kids and I went back the next day to get some stuff for Katy's kids. I got Samuel pants while I was still there Thursday. And I got some cute stuff for Emily's baby. Her name is Eden Abigail. I can't wait to meet her!!
Then on Friday, I went snowboarding. Terrie stayed with the girls and the timing of everything worked out well. I nursed Lainey at 10 and we left right after that. Terrie was going to bring the girls at 1, but didn't make it until 1:30, which worked out fine because Lainey was happy anyway. And then she didn't need to nurse again until we got home between 4:30 and 5. We had a fun day snowboarding. The second half of the day, we split up and Harp stayed with me, which was good because Quin and Harp's dad wanted to go fast. =) I did a pretty good job, though! Harp said I'm the best non-phenomenal snowboarder he's gone with. LOL Haha, anyway, I had fun. Harp hit a tree being goofy and trying to ride between two trees that were as far apart as his board is wide. The back of his board clipped a tree and it swung his head around and he hit the other tree really hard. Had a headache and felt sick for a while before he took some meds... Good thing he had a helmet on.
Harp and I went to the outlet mall Friday night to shop for Katy's kids. We stayed the night and came down the mountain yesterday. My parents drove up here yesterday and brought my sewing machine back (it was being serviced in Pueblo) and some stuff for the kegging system for Harper. We all went out to Texas Roadhouse for dinner.
And now Harp and his mom are picking the van up. It's good that we'll get to load most of the stuff today and we can see what will fit. But not good that it probably won't go up the driveway... Oh well.

Stuck
Well, we were going to go home today, but all routes out of Colorado into Kansas are closed. Kind of a bummer because I didn't want to get there late and then have Harp take off for work first thing in the morning. And he didn't want to have to go to work the next morning, either.
We have to pick up our car today and pay for another day's rental otherwise we don't get a car tomorrow. Lousy, huh? Well I'll blog some about our trip in a bit.

Another Scotty
Last night, I saw this cute dog on Saige's blog and I had to make one. =) I used brown felt and just whipstitched it together with pink embroidery thread. And embroidered tiny pink eyes. I like it except that I decided to fill it with rice and it's too heavy to stand up well. =) But Em thinks it's great and maybe I'll make another that's not filled with rice. =) We're heading up to the condo today so I could stitch it together in the car.

Help, Please, Lainey!
I forgot to blog about this, but before we left KS, we had Lainey on our bed and Em was trying to get up there, too. She was having a hard time and she asked Lainey to help her. She grabbed Lainey's foot and pulled herself up. Once she got up there and got her balance, she looked down at Lainey and said "Thanks, Lainey Joy!!"

I just talked to Ashley and this is way too funny. She sent some of the pics we took to be developed at Walmart (the online 1-hour photo thing). They called a half hour later and told her hubby that they needed a signature from the studio that took the pics. He said my wife and her friends took them and they had him go in and sign papers saying he was the copyright owner. Haha! What a pain, but way cool that our pics were that good! And a bunch of people in her family have asked where she had them done. Hehehe! We should open a studio. =P
How A Mommy Takes A Nap
This morning, I was wiped. We usually go to bed around 10 and I get up between 7 and 8. Well I have been going to bed well past 11 most nights for the last week and Lainey has been waking up between 5 and 6. Not a good combo. So this morning, I just had to take a nap. I was falling asleep watching a new VeggieTales (which I actually really wanted to see), so Harp took Em and Lainey was napping... Perfect, right?
I fall asleep with my hands covering my eyes because it's bright in the room. About 15 minutes later, Harp comes in and asks where panties are because Em peed her pants. Not too long after that, Lainey wakes up crying. It's way early for her to be up, so I let her cry for a bit. What seems like 15 minutes later, she's still crying, so I call for Harp, but he doesn't answer. It's a big house. I call louder until I'm practically screaming, lol. Harp finally says he was on the phone - haha. And he gets Lainey for me. So I sleep a little bit longer and wake up hearing "Ugh!!!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!" and the potty flush. Harp had to take care of some poopy panties. What a good man to not wake me up. LOL It all woke me up anyway... So I fall back asleep and then not much longer after that, Harp comes in with Lainey and says it's time to feed her and she wants him to know it. So I try to feed her while still kind of half-sleeping. Harper starts telling me all about his conversation with the car insurance company (the guy that we hit in the side has whiplash and a lawyer) and I'm so confused because I'm half asleep and he's all animated about it. LOL So anyway he finally gets me to understand what happened. Then tells me about how his grain mill that he got for Christmas is broken and needs to be exchanged (he was SO excited about his grain mill so he was bummed about this), how Em peed, how Em pooped, and maybe more, I don't remember. Then he left, I think to call Kitchen Aid about the grain mill attachment. Well Em's in the room with me while I'm half-asleep nursing Lainey. I don't have my glasses on (which means I can see things 3 inches in front of me and that's IT) and I hear Em saying "pony-pigtails, pony-pigtails" approximately 25 times before I hear "pony-pigtails all gone." I sit up and put my glasses on and her ponytail rubberband things (we call them tails) are all over the bed and floor. Harp came back in while he talked to the Kitchen Aid person, who was a total flake, but he managed to get her to send him an new grain mill. Harp asks why I'm not up and I say 'cause I'm tired. He asks "Why are you so tired?" LOL All I could do was crack up. That was the worst ever nap! But I'm still so glad to be a Mommy, I wouldn't trade it for a nap.
I got up and went into the bathroom and found the poopy panties in the sink along with Harper's toothbrush. Eew. It was in the travel case, but still! Gross!!!
After I came down, laughing, to blog about this, I hear Harp say Em squirted a bunch of our toothpaste into her mouth and swallowed it. LOL I have the number for poison control memorized. Hahahahahahahahaha. She uses different toothpaste than we do. It's Tom's of Maine mint. We used to use it and I liked it after I got used to it. It's not sweet. I couldn't find it the last two nights and used our toothpaste on Em and she discovered that ours is sweet. She always thought hers was so yummy. I hope she still thinks so after tasting ours. =P Anyway she is supposed to drink milk so I better go try to get it down her before something else happens.... =)

Emmy's Happy! & Strong Baby
Emily can open doors now. This morning, she climbed out of bed, came out of her room (opened and closed the door by herself) and into our room and announced "Emmy's happy!"
Lainey Joy likes to stand on laps and she tries to sit up (does little baby crunches) when you put her down. And if you grab her arms, she'll pull herself up to sitting.

We're Here
We came to CO yesterday. The roads were icy and yucky for a little bit of the way in CO, between Las Animas and La Junta. But it was a good trip. Emily didn't sleep a wink all day yesterday. She let out a scream and fell asleep at 9:05 and slept for about 45 minutes. The lowest temp we saw was 3 degrees. Wow! But 3 degrees here feels better than 40 in Kansas. It's nice and dry here. I was just wearing a short-sleeved shirt with a long-sleeved button-up shirt over it and it was better than wearing a sweater in Kansas. Okay Lainey's hungry, so I'm going to feed her. Then off to see Nana and then to Greeley. Blog ya later!

Another short and quick one...
We're having a good time with my parents. Went to Old Chicago last night - mmmm! And my dad cooked tonight and it was super-yummy too!
I got to talk to Janet today! And I found out that people already know Ellen's getting married so now I can say: I am sooooooooo excited for her! It is just so overwhelmingly amazing to me to see how God has worked in her life and brought Nathan along at just the right time... I get all teary when I think about it. I am just so thrilled!
Okay everyone stopped playing Monkey Ball so I guess I should get off the computer. =)

A Girl!!
Emily had her baby this morning!! I am SO excited that she had a girl! =) She was due Feb 1, but this was kind of expected because she had lots of hard contractions starting in the 20-somethingth week and Caleb was born at 36 weeks (and tried to come at 32). She was at 34 weeks this time. Anyway I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited. =)

Oh the other day we made a gingerbread house. We call it the gingerbread crack shack because it is the most ghetto gingerbread house you've ever seen. I ended up holding it together with toothpicks. I should take pictures.
Gotta get the L-Joy up and feed her. =)
Oh! Haha, this morning I was feeding Lainey at the table while Em and I ate and Lainey put her feet on the table. Emily said "No, Lainey! No feet table!!"
And at lunch, Em put her pizza down upside down and said "Pizza have tummy time!!"
And tonight I gave L-Joy tummy time and I called Em and told her we're having tummy time in Lainey's room if she wants to come join us. She was in the basement and she was SO excited and came up the stairs calling "Emmy's coming!!! Emmy's coming!!!" the whole way. =) She likes to have tummy time with Baby Lainey.

Sad, Scared Girl
This is soooooo sad. I remember when we were in small group in TX and Dave Huber and someone (Bruce maybe?) were wrestling around and Sam started to cry, thinking his daddy was in a fight. That was sad. This is sadder. Yesterday, Harper and I were just really wound up and hyper and we were having a water fight in the house (uh huh, good examples, I know). Well I had a cup that I was going to dump on Harp and he grabbed it and we were wrestling it in the air between us and just being loud and totally cracking up. Emily looked terrified and screamed and ran away from us and threw her head down on our bed, crying. =( How sad is that?? It breaks my heart! She looked so shocked and like everything she knew was just falling apart. We explained to her that we were playing and not fighting and I think she gets it, but still it was sad that she had to feel that.

Today Ashley came over and we cleaned my house. =) I am sooooooo happy to have a friend that likes to clean. =) We had a blast! And we even rearranged my bedroom furniture. Yay! And took cute pics of Em and Samuel. I'm gonna go to bed now but I'll try to remember to post more pics tomorrow. =)Q

Pictures Over Cookies
I asked Em today if she would rather go to Walmart to get the right light bulbs to take pictures and then take pictures of her and Lainey Joy or make cookies and eat 'em. She chose pictures. =) We ended up making cookies afterward anyway because I wanted them! =)
Things
Long time no blog. I guess I have been busy! We went out to Old Chicago with Dustin and Ginger on Thurs last week. Then Friday Dustin helped Harp start some beer. Then Saturday Dustin came over and helped Harp fix his car. It works again - yay! Seems like we saw the Wisners for some reason on Friday night 'cause I vaguely remember telling CK I'll see her in two days. Maybe that was a dream. Oh no it wasn't. I took the girls over there while Harp and Dustin were doing their beer. And CK wasn't there because she was getting ready for a basketball game so I guess I said that to Nancy and Raven. =) Anyway so then Sunday was church and then the talent show thing which was a sort of potluck dinner too. We signed up for soup and made potato leek soup. Mmm! Oh on Sat night I made chicken noodle soup and Em not only helped wash veggies and opened all the bouillon cubes, but she also helped me pinch noodles!!! I was so proud of her. I didn't think it was really going to be safe for her to pinch dough into boiling water, but she asked to help and I thought we'd give it a try. She did an awesome job! I can't believe it! I guess sometimes I underestimate what she can do. Of course, then there are the times when I overestimate what she can do and she falls on her head or something... =P Like when I let her stand on the bench pushed up to the counter to make cookies and she fell off... But I think she can do that now. I think. =) We'll see.
Anyway so the talent show was good and Lainey had her acting debut. She was a baby in a play that the Wisners did. She was supposed to be a boy, which I didn't know until the middle of the play, lol. She did a good job though. =)
Yesterday, we went shopping. We got a $10 giftcard in the mail for JC Penney and I got Em new shoes and two pairs of fuzzy socks with it. And we got a pretzel and 5 gummy cherries. Mmm! And we stopped to see Felicity because she works at Von Maur (which I think is Nordstroms in CO or is at least a whole lot like it). Em kept saying "See Lissy! See Lissy!" Last night, Mike and Lissy came over and brought a yummy Papa Murphy's pizza. Ooh, it was good. And we played some Wii Sports. =) Em was sad to go to bed. She said "Play Mike Lissy, Please?" And this morning, she asked for Mike & Felicity too. Cute girl.
Em has also been expecting Grandpa. She knows my parents are coming soon. Last week, I had the audio Bible on during her nap and when she got up, she said "Grandpa, Grandpa??" And when Dustin was here Friday she thought it was Grandpa again and I told her to go see who it was and she saw Dustin and ran away. I don't know why but she's kind of afraid of Dustin.
Today we went to Hobby Lobby. Good sales this week. =) And now I need to run something to the mailbox before the mailman comes. =)

Yesterday, we went shopping. We got a $10 giftcard in the mail for JC Penney and I got Em new shoes and two pairs of fuzzy socks with it. And we got a pretzel and 5 gummy cherries. Mmm! And we stopped to see Felicity because she works at Von Maur (which I think is Nordstroms in CO or is at least a whole lot like it). Em kept saying "See Lissy! See Lissy!" Last night, Mike and Lissy came over and brought a yummy Papa Murphy's pizza. Ooh, it was good. And we played some Wii Sports. =) Em was sad to go to bed. She said "Play Mike Lissy, Please?" And this morning, she asked for Mike & Felicity too. Cute girl.
Em has also been expecting Grandpa. She knows my parents are coming soon. Last week, I had the audio Bible on during her nap and when she got up, she said "Grandpa, Grandpa??" And when Dustin was here Friday she thought it was Grandpa again and I told her to go see who it was and she saw Dustin and ran away. I don't know why but she's kind of afraid of Dustin.
Today we went to Hobby Lobby. Good sales this week. =) And now I need to run something to the mailbox before the mailman comes. =)

It's A Boy & Random Update
So Dustin came over today after Ginger's ultrasound and showed us the picture. It's a boy! Cuteness! I'm excited, but I have to admit I would be more excited about a girl. Just 'cause that's all I have. =) But I'm sure boys are fun, too. Ashley says so. =)
Today we ran some errands in the morning and then Harp started some beer. Dustin helped him with it for a while - they are sharing this batch. And while they did that, I took the girls over to the Wisners' to hang out for a bit. Nancy made Emma this really cute Christmas dress and she is making 2 more for Elizabeth and Raven. They are so adorable!
Now the girls are in bed and Harp is (or will be again in a minute) working on a techno version of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel. And I'm making Em some Nemo jammies. =)

Kiona's Quilt
Here it is finished and a pic of Wiggly Moose. Em was so cute talking about giving Wiggly Moose to Kiona all week. We took the stuff to Sam yesterday at work. =) Oh, I never took a pic of the quilt label. Oops. I don't know if I blogged that I had to redo it. It said "Kiona Nicole Goin" & "November 2006" and it was way cute. But then another email went around that said Nichole. Eek! So I just cut it out and put one there that said "Kiona" "11-21-06" but it was a little crooked. Oh well. Maybe it's good that I don't have a pic. =)

Funny Pretender
Em likes to pretend to give her babies (and stuffed animals and us) raisins and grapes. If we're at home, she pretends to get them from the kitchen, but anywhere else, they just come out of her left hand. =P Well we were in the car on the way home last night and she was giving me grapes and raisins. I asked if she had any strawberries and she did and she gave me some (they were really good, btw). Harp asked her if she grew them in her garden. She no. Harp asked "Where did you get them?" She said "Ummmmm, Emmy's hand!" =D

Long Night
We went out Christmas shopping. Emily started absolutely freaking out in the middle of Hobby Lobby because we wouldn't let her run barefoot through the store. Harp put her slippers on her to go out. Uh huh, you read that right. She didn't really fit in the Hobby Lobby cart and it was especially cramped with Lainey's carseat hanging over the edge. So Em took her slippers off and they were already kinda gross because I let her walk around in them for 2 minutes when we first got there. Anyway so Em's freaking out and we decide to abort the whole trip. Then Lainey starts crying for milk. I was going to feed her there but Harp said no way are we staying in that store 'cause it was way to embarrassing how Em was acting. So I didn't feed Lainey but then everyone suddenly chilled out and I think we were there another 20 minutes at least. Then I fed Lainey in the car and we were going to go to Walmart but decided it was too late and we should just put the girls in bed. Well as we get to our neighborhood, Harp gets a phone call from someone who found his wallet in the parking lot at Hobby Lobby. Agh! So we drove back to Wichita to get it from them. They were at Pier 1 and told us to call when we got close. So we did and no answer.... Harp called like 10 times (no joke) and we asked everyone in Pier 1 if they were the person with his wallet. So he left a message and paged her and kept calling and she finally answered and we drove across the street to Gordmann's and got Harp's wallet. We are all pretty tired of being in the car... But glad that someone nice found his wallet and we were able to get it back tonight.
Em's First Haircut
I gave Em her first haircut today. It looks the same as it did before. =P Totally scraggly and flying away everywhere. =) I don't know if that's anything I can really fix. Good thing I think she's cute anyway. =P I didn't cut her bangs much either because I want them to grow out. I guess I'll just stick to pigtails until her hair behaves. Pics coming...
Stranded
=P Well when Harp went to work on Friday, he only made it to the base and his car died. I got the girls out of bed and we went and towed him home. It took over an hour to get home because we took back roads and they kept being closed so we ended up going east almost to Rose Hill by the time we got far enough south to come home. Harp fixed the two things that were wrong with it and it still isn't working. So he has our car. It's just as well because we shouldn't be going out in the cold anyway.
Last night, I finished quilting Kiona's quilt. I did the binding a couple of nights ago. I had quilted the lines parallel to the edges but then last night I quilted the diagonals too. We got Kiona a moose that's like Wiggly Seal. It is SO cute. We found them at Dillon's (Kroger).
Well Sunday we still weren't feeling 100% and we didn't want to spread our germs so we missed out on church and small group. =( Yesterday we felt fine, so we played with Annaliese and Abigail. Melissa and Kevin came over and we talked while the kids played. Lainey and Abigail laughed together and just thought it was extra fun to see another small person. =)
We still don't have a Christmas tree up. We aren't going to be here for Christmas anyway, but we were going to put one up. But now we'll only be here like 2.5 more weeks so it seems so pointless. I already don't like putting it up and taking it down... And when we get home, it will be Em's birthday and I want to have a party for her, so it will be extra not fun to take it down.
She might have a snowman birthday party because she has a huge obsession with snowmen right now and it wouldn't be weird for Samuel and Caleb. =P I don't think they'd appreciate a butterfly dress-up party. =P
Well it is cold so we are hanging out in Lainey's room right now. We have a heater in here and it's got to be 80 degrees in here. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, it feels good.
I haven't started working on Christmas presents yet. We finally decided what we are doing (for most people), but I can't go get the stuff without a car. =) It's way too cold to walk to Walmart. Well maybe if I put the girls in snowsuits and bundle up myself... I went out in a sweatshirt and jeans this morning and I was fine. We'll see what it's like out after a nap... Gonna have a nap now. =)

Lainey's First Tooth
Lainey has been kinda nibbly for a few weeks and she started to drool. I thought she might be teething, but I wasn't gonna say it because she's so little. But she really has been! The bottom middle tooth on her left is on its way. It's not through, but you can see it there! And she isn't very happy about it. She is sick too - the poor girl. She isn't napping well and I'm pretty much just hanging out and snuggling her. She has been sleeping through the night for over two weeks, but she woke up last night. I think partly because she was up soooo long at the party (she usually goes to bed at 8ish). But maybe it was teething too and getting sick... I nursed her even though I don't know that's what she needed because I want to make sure she is well-hydrated, being sick... I hope it doesn't get her in the habit of waking up again. But that's nothing that can't be fixed when she is better. Okay gonna hang with Harp. =)
Sick Fam
We have all gotten some cold that's going around. Raven had it and now CK has it too and Harp had it earlier this week and then Em got it 2 days ago and Lainey and I started last night at the party. I feel like I haven't blogged in forever so I don't know if I blogged about Diane's party but that was last night and it was really fun. I'll have to post about how the auction thing worked. Or maybe just say it now. Each person got $26,600 in Monopoly money and brought 2 things to auction. We drew names for the order of the auction and each person got up and auctioned off their first thing. They got to keep the money they got selling their thing and use it to buy other stuff. After the first round, we had snacks and then did the second round. It was really fun. I came home with some bear slippers, a marble rolling pin, a box thing with 3 vases and 3 crocus bulbs, and a little wooden jewelry box thing to paint (one of those kid craft kits) and a baggie full of crayons, stickers, puzzles, an activity pad, and candy. Oh and a snowman ornament.
Okay anyway we are hanging out in the basement watching Jonah now. It is no fun being sick.

My Funny Hubby
They handed out Wii tattoos when Harp and Mike waited 16 hours for their Wiis. We got one wet doing dishes or something last night so I put it on him. =P
