Cuteness

We made a list of words that Titus said when he turned 14 months, and there were about 30 on it. He has started saying a ton more since then, too. He is getting even more fun every day. His sense of humor is coming out and he cracks us up. He was playing a game with Harper that he made up the other day, just looking at him on the open side of the screen door and then through the screen door, going back and forth and back and forth. He thought it was soooo funny. Harper was out working on the laser (we have a screen door out into the garage).

I was letting Titus practice drinking out of a sake cup at the sink a couple of days ago and he was spilling it all over himself. Then he discovered that if he shook the cup, water would fall out, and he would crack up. He did it over and over and over... =)

Titus likes dirt. He likes to pick up two handfuls of dirt and throw them down, saying "dirt!!" We went to the playground the other day and they had just remodeled it and a front loader was putting dirt around the sidewalk and packing it down. Titus watched the front loader the whole time we were there. When it drove far away to get some more dirt, Ti said "Bye-bye!!" and waved to it. =P He has been pointing out all the airplanes that fly over. He still likes birds, but bird has sort of extended to mean animal. =) We went to Petco and looked at the ferrets and he called them birds. I said no, it's a ferret, not a bird. And he looked at it for a little longer and again said "Bird!" I told him no, it's a ferret, not a bird! He watched it some more and then said "Bird!" Hehe. He liked seeing the fish and the (real) birds and the hamsters.

We went to the zoo and Ti got to walk around like a big boy. He likes being big. He carried in a two-pound bag of baby carrots from the car the other day.

He also likes to read books. The other day we were in the living room and I told him to go get a book and bring it to Momma and I would read it to him. He did it! I didn't know if he would follow all of that, but he did.

Our church moved to a new building and we had been in it for one week - two meetings that Titus saw Adelaide at. When we went the next time, we were really early to do some work and none of our friends were there yet. Titus went up and down the hall saying "Adelaide? Adelaide?" So cute! He doesn't like going in the nursery, but CK always makes him happy by giving him food. =P lol

Our garden is starting to grow... the kids are into making stop-motion animation videos... I'm sure I'll think of other things I should have blogged later. =P

Boomba & Growing People

Awww, Titus is growing so quickly. We figured out maybe two weeks ago that he had a name for Bekah: Boomba. We think he had been saying it for a while, but we didn't know what it meant. He is already done calling her Boomba. She still wants him to call her that. =) Now he calls her "Beh." Like he's going to say Bekah, but he just stops after one syllable. =P

I have been sick and Harper had Friday off so the kids played a lot of Zelda with Daddy this weekend. Harper told me that Lainey asked "What was that place called where you buy potions? The lame??" lol It was the bazaar.

Lainey also asked me the other day "Mom, is there some kind of a chicken thing that's called a ham?" I was imagining like some kind of recipe or something and then really confused when she said "a ham." So I asked what she meant. She said "Well, there's turkey...and there's a turkey, and there's chicken...and there's a chicken, but there's not a ham. What is a ham?" When I told her it was pig she was like oh yeah. =P lol

Titus loves birds and has been signing bird for a while. Two weeks ago we went to Atwoods pretty much every day for garden stuff and saw the chicks. Ti really liked the chicks and started to do the sign there. Then that Monday morning, I got him up and he signed bird to me. I asked him if he wanted to go see the chicks and he signed bird, bird, bird! =P So we took him to see the chicks a couple of times that week. =) He signs about the birds he sees outside, too.

Oh, while we were at Atwoods that weekend, Bekah came and said "Mom, do you think it would be a good idea to hide?" I said "Hide? Like, you mean go and hide in the store so I can't find you?" She said yeah. I said "No, I don't think that would be a good idea at all." She said "Yeah, I didn't think it sounded like a good idea either!" I thought that was sort of funny, but she had asked me about something earlier that week and said "Mom, is this wise?" so I didn't think much about it. =P Then in the car on the way home, I was telling Harper about it and it came out that Lainey had been telling her to hide! Naughty kid. I told Bekah she was very wise to ask me about it when she thought Lainey was telling her something fishy.

Titus called a cookie a "tuh-tuh" the other day. He has mastered climbing the stairs. We're still not confident that he won't fall down, so he's not supposed to do it, but he has followed me upstairs a few times (which I don't mind) and snuck upstairs more than a few times (which I do mind). We are going to need another baby gate. =P

The other night at dinner, Bekah was telling is something about "the female house" that she was playing with. Emily said "Bekah, do you know what a female is?" She said "Uh huh." Em asked what. She said "a kind of bug." Hehehe! =)

When Emily plays Pet Shops, she makes the hamsters live in Hamsterdam and the pigs live in New Pork. I told her even old New Pork was once New Hamsterdam. Hehe. =P

A few weeks ago I was playing Zoobles with Bekah and I made one of the Zoobles go to the ice cream shop, order one of each flavor of ice cream cone (there are three) and then get really sick because they ate too much ice cream. So I made the Zooble go take a nap until it felt better and when it woke up, I took it back to the ice cream shop and it got three ice creams again, got sick, took a nap, got up and went back to the ice cream shop. It said it was going to try not to eat too much and get sick, but then it didn't have self-control and it ate three ice cream cones anyway and got sick and went to take a nap. The fourth time I took the Zooble to the ice cream shop, Bekah was like "Um, the ice cream shop is closed. You need to not eat that much ice cream." lol

Titus discovered that he can put things under the coat closet door and under the bathroom door, so that is what he does now. =P He slides blocks and alphabet magnets and alphabet puzzle pieces under the door. So we go into the bathroom and trip on Titus toys. =P But it is an improvement over the last obsession, which was taking the magnets off the fridge and hucking them down the stairs to the basement. There are pretty wide openings between the bars on the baby gate and he could get blocks and cars down there, too. He still thinks it's funny when one of us goes down and closes the gate and plays with him through the bars. But I'm glad he doesn't throw everything down there anymore. =) I got a little tired of picking things up off the steps. =) He is so cute, though!

He has been sick, too, and he's been nice and snuggly. It has been good to have sooooo many Titus snuggles. This morning, Harper was going to take him downstairs and let me rest in bed some more and Titus lunged for me and didn't want to leave. I'll enjoy the Mama's boy-ness while it lasts. =)

Melshmallow

I think I forgot to blog a couple of months ago that Bekah thought a marshmallow was a melshmallow. =)

Bek randomly said "Mom, I love you more than the roundabout!" =) Hehe! That is special. =)

Bekah also said "When I was little, did I know what things meant? Like did I know what 'nap' meant? And what 'milk' meant?" =) She thinks it is cute that Titus knows what those things mean.

We were pinching halushke dough together the other night and Emily said "Laine, if you could have any three things that you wanted and you would definitely get them, what would you want?" She said "Um, triplet baby brothers!!" Then she said "Does that count as one thing or three?" Em said "One." So Lainey said "Okay, then also to have our grandmas and grandpas live in our house with us." Em gave her a look and said "I would get tired of that - really fast." lol I asked her why and she said "Because I don't like shopping every day." Haha!

The other night, Titus dropped his plate on the ground and said "Down!!" lol

We are pretty sure now that 'daiya' means car. He was saying it even when my parents were here when my dad would show him the cars driving behind our house. He says it looking out the window often and today he said it while pushing around one of his cars.

Titus started saying 'ater' for 'water' today.

We have been working in the garden this weekend and Titus has gotten to play outside and explore. =) He is adorable. He found two tennis balls and carried them around for a while. He brought them over to me and set them down. I asked him if he could pick them up and throw them. He picked them up and threw them! Then he had a lot of fun running around and picking his tennis balls up and throwing them. =)

Small Adorable People

I have been collecting cute things on the whiteboard and it is time to erase it all. =) So here goes...

Titus turned 1 last month. I can't believe he is 13 months already. He has started signing 'more' and is starting to use that more often when he wants food instead of the blanket 'milk' which means anything from milk to water to strawberries to chocolate. It just meant "put something in my mouth!" =) The other night, Harper opened the fridge and Titus came running into the kitchen excitedly signing 'more.' =) We had just finished dinner. He likes to eat. =P He has started saying strawberry and it is babewwy. His favorite foods are strawberries and bananas. Oh and rice Chex cereal. He wanted some and I got the box down and he got excited. I said "Oh, are these good?" and he did this little stiff hop and said "Mmmm!!!" =) He likes to tell me his food is "mmm!" =) He was excited when we started getting gardening catalogs to see the pictures of strawberries. He would point to them and feel them like they were supposed to be real. =) Today the girls got some hanging strawberry kits and Ti really likes the berries on the box.

My parents were here the week after his birthday and we went to a chocolate shop. Titus got a taste of chocolate and started wiggling and signing 'milk' with both hands. =P

Ti still likes balloons. He got some for his birthday and the last few times we've been to Walmart they have had them all over because of their clearance stuff. He points to them and says "bbboon, bbboon!" And he said "tars, bbboon!" when he saw the star balloons. So today we went to Dollar Tree and got him another balloon. =) He was so cute with his birthday balloons. He would get up from his nap and immediately ask for his balloon and we'd go look for it and he would be so happy to find it. He carried it around all over the place. Sometimes he would lose it and come and tell me "bboon" with this look like I don't know where it is. So we would go search for it together and he thought it was so much fun. =)

Titus has a word for banana, but I haven't figured out exactly what it is yet. But he is trying to say it. He also tries to say truck. He goes "ttt...kkk."

Titus likes to see the cars drive by on the road behind our house. He'll come to us in the kitchen and point up at the window above the sink and we'll pick him up to look at the cars. He says "daiya!" all the time when he looks outside. Not sure what that is yet. =) Sometimes cars are "tars," too.

Titus loves to dance and if he has a toy in his hands when the music comes on, he drops it on the floor and puts one or two hands in the air. He bounces and spins. So cute!

Bekah... She is funny stuff. She put on this cow suit and her hair was sticking out the hoodie. She came to me and said "Can you tuck my hair in so I don't look like a person in a cow suit?" Hahaha!!

Around Ti's birthday, I took her earrings out to clean them and put them back in. She said "Why did you do that?! Because my ears might roll up into balls!" I started laughing and said "Why do you think that? How would they roll up into balls?" She said "I don't know, I just know they would. Daddy said." I cracked up. Apparently he told her that if she didn't leave earrings in her ears, the holes would close up. And she imagined her ear holes closing up - her ears rolling up into balls. Haha! I asked her if that is what she thought and she said yeah. =P Hehe!

The other day we were looking out the front yard at our enormous tree and Bekah said "Can we cut down that tree and put in a banana tree? So we can have pet monkeys? I want to have pet monkeys." =P

We were listening to a song that said "Every good gift is from above" and Bekah thought it said "Every good gift is from a frog." She asked my why every good gift was from a frog. =P

I don't know if that is what gave her this idea, but at dinner one night she said "This is as tasty as frog meat!" as a compliment.

Tonight I put Lainey's hair in these gold curlers and Bekah told her she looked so beautiful with those gold things in her hair. =P Then I put Bekah's hair in "curlers" but I used strips of pantyhose and tied them because they are softer to sleep on anyway and I didn't have that many gold ones. She asked me if she looked beautiful in her curlers, too. lol =) I said she did. You've gotta be one pretty girl to look beautiful with pantyhose tied all over your head, but she pulls it off nicely. =P Hehe.

Lainey... The kids found a snake in the yard last week and named it Stripes. Lainey was going to catch it and keep it in the butterfly house, but it went back into the grass and got lost. She cried and cried. Harper said something about how she cares so much about the little creatures she finds and I told him no she really doesn't because if you found another snake and named it Stripes, she would be all giddy and not care a bit about the first snake. (This was demonstrated last year with a multitude of roly-polys named Elizabeth.) So he grabbed a grey crayon and a potato and drew a face on it and told Lainey it was a snake named Stripes. Yep. You don't even have to find another snake. You only have to represent another snake. lol She put Stripes in the butterfly house and played with it and carried it around and treated it like her pet. The next day, Emily was like "Lainey, you know that is a potato right?" Lainey said "I'm not listening to you." LOL Not in a mean way, just like an I'm trying to focus on the fact that this is a snake and I'm not going to let you ruin my little world kind of way. =)

Catching Up On Cuteness

Titus has started dancing. It is soooo cute. He stomps his feet or spins in circles or waves his hands in the air. =P Or a combination.

Emily bought Titus a Mylar heart balloon the day before Valentine's Day and he really really likes it. =) He carries it around and sometimes he plays with it like a punching bag. On Saturday he started saying "balloon!"

Sunday I was talking to Raven and Titus waved at her and said "Hi!" He did it again later to a couple of other people. He has started repeating words really well. Today he said "puffs" - he is a huge fan of puffs. =) If I am holding him in the kitchen, he points to the basket above the fridge, where the puffs are. =) And I love how he wiggles with excitement when I get them down and open them. And he said "turtle" when he saw the turtle that holds the bathtub toys.

He also started signing "milk" for real. I was never sure before if he really meant it, but now he does it really well and I know he means it. =P Sometimes he signs it when he wants water, too. Sometimes when he is nursing he will just look at me and sign milk and then smile when I say "Yep, you're having some milk!" He will do it over and over. I guess he likes that I understand him. =P

The other day, Lainey laughed and said "There's no such thing as egg NOG!" Then she just totally cracked up. Harper said "Laine, you're fun to watch laugh... Emily, you're fun to watch laugh, too..." and then he mimicked the famous Emily laugh where she chokes. lol So we were all laughing and Bekah said "That's funnier than jokes!" lol!

Bekah likes to make coffee with me and she calls the frother a "throther" and asks if she can "throth" the milk. =)

The other day, Bekah said "My head fore hurts... I mean... My forehead?"

We were painting some blocks black to put pictures on for the Valentine Dinner and Bekah said "The whiskers on paint brushes...are they all black?"

The kids were cleaning up scrapbook paper last week and they got to a point where it was just putting little pieces in the trash. Bekah said "All the paper should be put to death!"

The other night at dinner, Bekah said she was cold and asked for a blanket. I took off my sweater and gave it to her and she said "Thanks. Do you even want this dirty?" =)

I was snuggling Bek on the couch and she said "Mommy! You have some wrinkles!!" I said "Oh yeah? I guess I'm getting old." She said "No. You're getting UN-old!" =)

Bekah says "oof" when she picks up something heavy or can't do something. =)

Bekah was playing with one of the brain teaser puzzles that Emily bought and she thought she was solving it, but it really just wasn't put together correctly. She handed it to Harper and he fixed it and gave it back. She tried it again and couldn't do it and started to cry and said "I just think you're...not a very good one [dad]...because...you made me cry." I'm not sure what she had said before that, so that we knew she was calling him a not very good dad, but it was what she meant. lol

A few weeks ago the girls were talking about Finding Nemo and Bekah said "I don't like that one...because he gets all alone with just crabs!" Haha! I thought that was cute. There are sharks and bombs and jellyfish-filled trenches and a freaky anglerfish and a whale and getting stuck in a bird's neck, etc. And the scary thing is Nemo, free at last, but alone with crabs for like 2 seconds.

Anyway the Davises were here for the weekend and the kids all had tons of fun. Emily wired up a light with a switch and she and Hannah went into a room and turned the lights out and sent each other messages in Morse code. How cute is that?

Funny Girl

Tonight we were playing the Brain Quest game, which Bekah requested. We always have so much fun with that game. She got a first grade math question that required her to add 5 and 8. So Harper was working through it with her and she held up one hand for the 5 and then her other hand with 5 and Harper added 3 fingers for the 8. He asked how much that was altogether. She said 5 and 5 and 3. He said yeah, but altogether how much is it? Count them all up? And she said "With what hand?!" LOL It was hilarious. So he traded one of his hands for hers and she got a free hand to add them up. She counted "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14!" LOL He was like "11, 12, what?" and she said "11, 12, 14!"  A few times. =P Skip Count Kid ruined her teens with the skip counting twos song - I need to be more diligent to undo that. lol But at least she can skip count 2's up to 20! Hehe.

Baby Talk, Etc

When we were in Colorado, we were in the bathroom at a restaurant and there was a little girl talking in a babyish voice. Bekah told me "I don't like baby talk!" I said I don't like it when big kids talk baby talk, but I like real baby talk, like how Titus says Dadadada. She said she likes Titus baby talk, but not when big kids do baby talk. We went over to the sink to wash hands and she said "Mommy, can you uppie-a me?" lol I said "I thought you didn't like baby talk, Bekah!" She looked at me funny. I said "You asked me to uppie-a you." She still looked at me. lol I asked her if she knew that uppie-a wasn't a real word and that she just said that when she was little. She said "I never knew uppie-a wasn't a word!" lol

We were playing Burrows (aka The Gopher Game) the other night and Bekah needed to attract more gophers to her ranch and she said "How do you contract gophers?" And then announced that she had "Five-dy six complaints." Yeah she lost that game. =P

Titus says "Dad" for real now and wonders where he is in the mornings that he goes to work. He looks toward the bathroom and says "Dad?" when Harper isn't in our bedroom. Haha! =)

Yesterday Bekah said "I really like you and I really like that you are my mommy and we have a Steve!" =P I like how he is Steve sometimes, or Stevie-Poo (Harper can't stand that one). =P

Titus loves puffs and we call them his Steve-O Puffs. The other day, Harper opened a canister of antibacterial wipes and Titus went crazy (the giddy kind of crazy) thinking they were puffs. They come in the same type of canister. =P He is sooooo cute. When you have food and he wants some, he does a little hop in your arms and says "Ah!" and flaps his arms. =) He is so much fun to have.

Psych Season 6 is lame and we're done with Psych. =\ Too bad 'cause it used to be good.

Emily got a gift certificate to a puzzle company for her birthday and she spent probably half of it on her sisters. She got them each a pearl necklace kit where you get an oyster in a can and you pry it open and get the pearl out (it was sort of gross with the dead oyster in there and everything, but pretty cool anyway) and then put the pearl in this little cage pendant thing. And she got them each a color changing mug and a game that was for all of them together and she got Lainey a brain teaser puzzle. She was very sweet! Everyone was so excited waiting for that box. =P

Lainey is sewing a dog this morning out of some fabric she got for Christmas and then she is going to make it a dress. =)

Bekah's latest thing is pretending she is Robin Hood. We made a Robin Hood hat together on Saturday and she wears it alllll the time. lol She was bummed when I told her Robin Hood was a thief. But she still wants to pretend to be him and draw him (as a fox). Lainey and I made a crossbow out of paper and hemp cord and popsicle sticks. And a whole, whole lot of tape. It works really well and is a bit scary. =P They have shot pencils with it off the deck.

Harper and Emily went to a seminar Friday and Saturday that was about Israel. It was mostly a hermeneutics thing, giving historical and cultural context to a bunch of passages. But they learned a ton and Emily loved it. That makes me smile! =) I wanted to go, too, but I didn't want to keep the littles up so late. Emily is teaching me, though. =)

I'm working on a quilt for a friend's baby. I got to use some new AccuQuilt dies and it is turning out really cute! Thanks, Mom! =) And I think I am going to finally try foundation piecing after this one. My mom gave me a bunch of paper for it a while ago and I haven't tried it yet.

Okay well it's time to get back to school stuff and to drink some coffee!! =P

Heart Attack & Art

The other day, Bekah was coming up the stairs and said "Aaaaagh! I had a heart attack!!!" Emily was like what are you talking about, Bekah? She said it was a thing that poked her in the foot on the stairs. Em asked if she meant a carpet tack. "Oh! Yeah! A carpet tack!!" =) Haha!

The other night we had a family art night and painted on hardboard with acrylics. It was really fun. Bekah told a whole story on her board until it was a bunch of blobs of color. =) It was like a theatre, with a plot and everything, and things were getting painted over. =) Emily did a cool thing with stripes in the background and then black interlocking circles over it all. Lainey painted our house getting hit by lightning and on fire and all of us outside of it. =P lol

Titus walked all the way around the loop in our house today. =) He is a big walkin' man!

Decroded

Decroded is a word used in Napoleon Dynamite. I don't even think it's a funny movie, and I don't even remember when they used the word (although my sister looked it up recently and it wasn't a good context) but it has become a regularly used word in our house. =) The other day, Bekah told Harper's mom, "Grandma and Grandpa B have a decroded basement!" lol They have an unfinished basement in their new house. =)

Lainey told Harper's mom "Thank you for the onerous gifts." She said "Onerous gifts?" Lainey said "Yeah, 'cause now I'm the owner of them." Haha!

My parents' new house has a catwalk, and my mom couldn't think of the word and called it the sky bridge. That name stuck. =) The girls loved it. They were asked what they thought of it and Emily said "It's awesome!! You could wait up there until somebody walked into the living room and then drop a sock on their head!" Haha!! They did it, too. =) It was a lot of fun.

Titus broke his record and took nine steps in Castle Rock. I have stopped counting now. He still falls down, but he's a pretty good walker!

On the 27th, we went to the aquarium in Denver for Emily's birthday. It was so much fun! Em really liked seeing the sea cucumbers. =) We took lots of video, which we haven't done in a long time.

After the aquarium, we went to a Starbucks for her to open presents. Lainey fell asleep there in my lap. lol =) I guess it was an exhausting day! We had also met my parents in Denver at the Old Spaghetti Factory, which was fun. =)

On Christmas Day, Bekah was pretty funny opening presents. Some of it was the bad kind of funny, like saying "I hope it isn't clothes!!" while opening a present... She opened her presents very slowly and carefully and didn't want to rip the wrapping paper. One time she ripped the paper on each side of the tape and laughed that it looked like bunny ears and then hopped the present all around, pretending it was a bunny. =P It turned out to be a shirt with a bunny on it, which made us all laugh. =)

All of the girls got a box full of colored duct tape, and when they opened it, Emily and Lainey yelled "Awesome!!!" Bekah thought they were streamers and didn't think it was cool, lol. But she didn't say anything. Later, though, she was opening another present and said "I hope it isn't streamers!!" We thought that was funny and completely random, but she told me later that she had thought the duct tape was streamers. =P

Toward the end of opening presents, we sorted presents into piles. Bekah stacked hers up perfectly. Then she wanted to open the present one from the bottom. =) She pulled it out and all of her presents fell. She set her present aside and stacked them all up again, but they fell over again. The third time they fell over, she said "I hate it when they do that!!!" Actually, I don't know if she said hate or don't like. But she was really frustrated and she didn't want to open her present until they were all stacked up again.

She also asked to have all of the tags taken off of her clothes as soon as she opened them. My mom was biting them off and after a few times, Bekah asked "Are you swallowing those?" Hahaha!!

Some of the presents had the wrong name on them, so Bekah checked the size on every piece of clothing she opened to make sure it was really for her before she got excited about it. =) She did that again at Harper's parents' house, which was funny because nobody there knew about what happened in Castle Rock. =)

We had a fun time with Aunt Laurin and Uncle Chris. =) Uncle Chris was a super fun uncle. Aunt Laurin curled all of the girls' hair - even Emily's. Em always like her hair to be "Plain Jane." Ever since she was tiny. I asked her if I could curl my hair and she said no and I said but you let Aunt Laurin! She said "Yeah, Aunt Laurin really wanted to curl my hair." Haha! I curled Lainey's hair today, though, and after Emily saw it, she came and asked me if I would do hers. =P I had to say no though because we had things to do and the curlers I used took way too long. I had to do Lainey's hair in three batches, so it took forever. It looked really cute, though!

Anyway what else? Harper gave his brother an inflatable fruit cake for Christmas and wired up a switch and a blower for an air mattress and made it inflate when he opened the box. He bought the fruit cake in Idaho and he has been planning this for 3 Christmases. No, four! That is funny. Emily worked on it with him because they have been doing circuits activities together.

Kids are all in bed and we got Psych season 6, so we're off to watch it. Later! =)

Baby Man, etc.

Titus is growwwwwing up! He just stood up holding onto nothing and took six steps. He has been taking three or four steps at a time for the last couple of days. His first step was about a week ago when he tried to head for Bekah. =)

He has been busy cooking in his little kitchen. My friend Dawn gave the kids this little play kitchen. When she said little, I thought Littlest Pet Shop size little. But she just meant not a big play kitchen. =) It is perfectly Titus-sized. The pieces are maybe 18 inches tall. He likes to cook things on the stove, put them in the oven, and play with the faucet on the sink. =) He is adorable!!

Some other random funnies...

The kids are playing a Zelda game with Harper and it has gorgons in it. The other night, Bekah was on the potty saying "gorgonnnnnns" while she went #2. LOL

Yesterday, Harper said "Get ready to go, kids! We're going to the donut shop!" Em said "Why??" He said "To get donuts!!" She said "Really?!?!?!" =P Too funny. I guess we don't have a reputation for feeding them junk for breakfast, so that's good. lol

At dinner the other night, Bekah said "Since I don't like cucumbers, I'm going to delete them."

The other day Bekah said "What does atrocious mean?"
Me: It means bad, like awful, or horrid.
Lainey: I have to peepee atrociously!!
Me: No, not like that! =P lol

The other day in the car, Titus said "dirty odies." The girls totally cracked up and they have been asking him what odies are and why they are dirty. =)

Bekah has said some really funny things recently... As if she's not always saying funny things... =) But one day she wanted to play The Farming Game and Harp and the other girls were out. I told her we were going to wait for them to get home and play, too. She said "I really want to throw myself on the floor." LOL She didn't do it, though! What a girl! =P

A while before that, she had been playing Legos with Lainey and Lainey did something she didn't like. I think Lainey snatched a Lego from her or something. She said "You make me want to take a nap, but I don't want to have a nap." Haha!! What she meant was that she wanted to freak out at Lainey, but she knew if she was cranky and fought with her sister, she would end up having a nap.

The other day, Bekah invited Lainey to her "feeling good shop." I overheard and I was like hey can I come to your feeling good shop, too? So she said I could come. Well, I followed them into Bekah's feeling good shop (the bathroom) and she pulled out a claw (a claw for your hair) and said that what you do in the feeling good shop is get a claw put on your fingers. LOL!!! I said aaaaaaaaah, this is a BAD feeling good shop!!!!!! And I ran away. =P Hahaha. She cracks me up.

Bekah saw a water tower and said "Water fountain, water fountain!!!!! I mean... It's a water tower." =P

Funny Bekah =)

Bekah is so cute. So, we had strep and she was put on amoxicillin and had a reaction to it on the 9th day and she was covered in speckles. I called her my little monster and she said no, don't call me a monster! So I said okay, Speckle Bek! =) She said no, don't call me a speckle Bek! I said well can't I call you anything cute? She said yeah! I said what? She said "Bekah!" lol

Bekah has been into the Kid K'Nex lately and she has been making "poker ants." She says it as if it's all one word, but they are ants with poky things and they kill bad guys. =P And sometimes they get married to each other and have a baby poker ant. lol She made a tower the other day and told me it was like the save tower in Zelda. =P Harper has a Zelda game for Wii that he plays with the girls (not the scary one - there is more than one).

The other day Bekah was singing and singing and I asked her what she was doing and she said "Oh, I'm singin' up a song." =)

This morning Lainey was loading a cap tray by the window and the sun was bright. She said "I don't like doing caps there because the sun is in my face and the sun is bad for my forehead." I had to laugh. She went on to explain that "it gets on my forehead and makes my brain feel weird." Haha! I said just go to the other side of the tray and load from there. She said "oh." =) She is so funny.

They have really been liking loading cap trays again because we are paying them $1 per tray. =) They used to do it for fun, but it got old. =) I taught Em how to unload the trays yesterday and I'm paying her $1 per tray to unload them, too. It's an easy job, but I can't do either with Titus in my arms, so it helps a ton to have their help. And I like giving them a chance to earn some money in a real way.

Poetic Girl =)

Emily has been telling me poems that she has written and it is super sweet. =) I asked her to write some down for me. I'll ask her if I can post them when she does. =)

The other night, we all sat around the living room with all the lights out and a fire in the fireplace and just talked. Em and I were on the floor looking at the ceiling. Emily said "Mom, you know what the best constellation is?" I asked what. She said "A happy family." =) I said "Oh, are we a happy family?" She said "Yeah!...and our constellation is like a heart. With Mommy and Daddy here and Emily and Lainey here and Bekah and Titus here." And drew out the heart constellation in the air. =P I told her I wondered if she would say no because she sometimes has a fit when I ask her to clean up. ;) lol She said "Wellllll, we're still a happy family." =)

Em has been having lots of fun making purses and wallets and things out of duct tape. She made a "shoppe" today with advertising and coupons. =) The girls think it's funny that the quilt shop is a quilt "shoppe." =)

They ask and ask to go to the quilt shop in Wichita, but it's not about the fabric. =) It's about the kid-sized furniture and books. I always read Bekah books when we go up there and she loves books. Her favorite book right now is Green Eggs and Ham and we read it daily, often more than once. =) She has most of it memorized.

Lainey does not have it memorized at all, but she does a really good job reading it. I have to keep from laughing when Lainey gets to a hard word and stops to sound it out and Bekah knows exactly what word it is. Bekah is reading some of the beginning reader books now, too. Lainey has just really taken off, though. Harper was asking her to read things in Sunday School that she had never seen before and she had no trouble at all. He is very relieved to know that she is smart, lol. She is so goofy and clumsy. =P She will remember anything put to a song. She was singing really long verses the other day that she learned at VBS in the summer and we hadn't been practicing them for months.

I don't know if I said I was memorizing Titus. I was trying to have the whole thing learned by Thanksgiving. I might still make it, but I think probably not. It's easier to learn when it doesn't hurt to talk. =) But I have been trying in my head at least. I know Chapter 1 very well, and the first half of Chapter 2 very well, the second half of Chapter 2 pretty well, and Chapter 3 I am iffy on the first half and haven't even begun with the last half. Maybe I will try with scripturetyper tonight. If I can't talk, I can at least type. =)

Siiiick

Long day. Finally went to the doctor after being sick since Wednesday night. It wasn't all that awful to start and it seemed to get better, but then it got worse again. Anyway, I have strep.

On the way out the door I said hi to my neighbor Donna and told her I'd been sick and we were heading to the doctor. She offered to watch the kids and I told her I had already taken Em and Lainey to a friend's house, but I was taking Titus with me to nurse and Bekah with me because she had a rash that I didn't want to spread around. She told me one of her daughters would get a rash and no other symptoms when the family got strep and that I should tell the doctor about it. So I did, and he said it looks like a strep rash. He only tested me, but it was positive, so we are both on antibiotics now. Strep rash is scarlet fever. Doesn't that sound worse? =( Poor Bekah. She has been fine but she coughed a little when we got home and I sent her to have a nap. I don't know if she is hot from napping (she sweats when she sleeps) or if she is getting a fever now, but hopefully the antibiotics will do their thing quickly. =)

On the way up there, we passed our mailman and I waved. A confused Bekah said "Mom, do you know you just were waving to a house?"

She had a little bag of goldfish crackers and she said "Did you know goldfish turn into peanut butter?" Eeeew!  "...In your mouth!"

Egg in Burrito

I started coughing a little on Wednesday night and then felt worse Thursday until I was pretty much miserable Thursday night. Sick all day Friday, feeling a little better Saturday, but then way worse again Saturday night. This morning I don't feel great. Not awful, confined to bed or anything, but coughing and a sore throat and that means Titus and I are home while everyone else is at church. I'm missing the girls singing in choir. =( But I played Em's song on piano this morning and she sang it for me. =)

So Friday morning Harper was home because it was his 9x80 day and we had no water because a water main broke down the street. So he went and got everyone McDonald's for breakfast. I don't remember if I even ate breakfast but that sounded gross so I didn't eat McDonald's. But he got us all big things of water and bacon or sausage egg and cheese muffin things. Bekah had eaten a third of hers before she said "Aww! I didn't want egg in my burrito!" lol She caught herself right away and was like "Pffffff, I mean sandwich." =)

Bekah sounds like she says "bermember" for "remember." I'm pretty sure that is how she says it, but when I've asked her, she says no. =P

The other day Bekah said "Do you know I like to eat orange peel?" I said "No, I didn't know that." Trying not to laugh because I'm the one that always finds her orange peel and has to tell her to come throw it away (or I throw it away myself). She said "Well then you don't know your kids at all!" LOL!

Growing Ti, Funny Bek

Titus started having little conversations with us the other day. We say "dah!" to each other back and forth. For like five minutes. =P Hehe! It is so much fun. Titus stood up on Friday for a good 15 seconds before he decided to dive for my plate of hummus. =) He is getting so big!

We went to a drama thing on Friday night that a bunch of people at church were in. People had been talking about "the drama" all week. As we pulled into the parking lot, Bekah said "What's...drama? ...Is it...when you act?...like a baby? Like mmwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!?" Hahaha! She has never heard the word drama other than "Okay, I'm done with the drama!"  or "You're fine. You're just being dramatic." =P

Bekah learned to ride her big girl bike a month or so ago and I forgot to blog it. She calls it her "bike with wheels," even though it's her bike with pedals. =P I mean, it has wheels, but the Like A Bike does too. =P She thought the pedals are what training wheels are. We had told her the Like A Bike was for her to learn to balance so she wouldn't need training wheels. She thought she just didn't need training wheels on the Like A Bike, and that now she has them on her big girl bike. And since the pedals are the difference, she thinks the pedals are training wheels. =P

Bekah has funny and vivid dreams. She told me the other day about a dream that two Maters came to the neighbor's house. I don't remember if they were trying to take the neighbor's car or hurt the neighbor's car. But she said she ran outside to see them. I was like no but you didn't really go outside. She said yes she did, it was real life! I said well you aren't supposed to go outside unless you ask Mommy and Daddy, so did you disobey us? =P lol She had to stop and think about that. =)

Then the other night there was a wooden arm coming out of the wall in my bedroom with a wooden hand and it pinched Bekah and pinched Titus. She said she broke it off the wall, but she didn't have a sword. I was laughing as she was telling me all of this and she was like no this is real, Mom, it's not funny. And she showed me where on the wall the arm had been. =P

A few weeks ago she woke up crying and she came in our room and told me Lainey took her shoes and she wants them back. I said Lainey's sleeping and she didn't take your shoes and told her to go back to bed. She cried and cried on the way back and I thought she probably still thinks Lainey took her shoes... So I went in there and snuggled her and asked her if she knew she had been dreaming and that Lainey was asleep. She said no it wasn't a dream and Lainey is up in her bed wearing her shoes. I asked which shoes. She said her purple sparkly ones. I told her there is no way Lainey can fit her foot into Bekah's purple sparkly shoes. She insisted that she had. So I asked her if she wanted me to check. She said yes and I checked and told her Lainey was up there barefoot and asleep. She didn't believe me. =P So I asked her if she wanted to climb up and feel Lainey's foot. She climbed up and felt the foot that was out of the covers, but then she tugged and tugged at Lainey's blanket until she could get to her other foot to make sure that IT didn't have a purple shoe on it... And then she was like "oh" and got back in bed. =P lol

A Blacklog of Funnies/Memories

I have this little pile of papers with funny things written on them and it's about time I put them on here. =)

These are from when we lived at the Rabbit Hole, so April-August of 2011. Bekah was 2 1/2 years old, Lainey was 4 (almost 5), and Em was 6.

We dropped Em and Laine off at VBS with Tatum and we just had Bekah. She said "My Emmy and Lainey are at a PBS." I thought it was so cute that they were "her" Emmy and Lainey. =) And PBS...lol Probably because of Word World DVD's that we have. =) I remember when she was tiny and her favorite part of Word World was the "glub, glub, glub, glub...PBS kids!" part with a little fish. That was when we lived in Colorado. =) She called it the "blah blah blah" part, if I remember right. Wonder if I ever blogged about that. =P

Anyway on with the list... We had said something about going on a date for our anniversary and at some time had explained that an anniversary is sort of like a birthday, but celebrating the day you got married instead of the day you were born. Bekah said "Can I come with you? To your annibirthday?"

Bekah called Gobstoppers "gumsnappers."

Bekah: "There was a big thunderstorm and it was gonna about to say BOOM! It said BOOM!"

Bekah called lobsters "halobsters." =)

Bekah talked about "reggie" things, short for "regular" things. Like, her regular friends, etc. I never did quite understand what that was all about.

I took Bekah with me to a bridal shower for Josh Wisner's wife-to-be. Nobody knew at the time that I was pregnant and we were going to wait a little while before we told. But Bekah just told random people at the shower "My Mommy has a baby in her belly!" Ha! So much for that secret... And when we went to the shower I had just told her it was a party and she was disappointed that there wasn't a cake. She said "Where is the birthday?" (referring to the birthday cake) We rode over there with Mrs. Manchester in her car and when it was time to leave, Bekah said "What car should we take home?" =P Like we just had our pick. =)

Anything that was scary to Bekah had alligators in it. Harper had some video game music that was tense and scary and she said "AH! There are alligators in that music!"

In the Rabbit Hole, there were two mirrors facing each other in the bathroom and Bekah loved to "switch" with me. I would hold her and she would look in one mirror while I looked in the other and then we'd say "switch!" and turn our heads to look in the other mirror. She thought it was hilarious! And she would ask "Where are all the Mommas and Bekahs?!" You could see yourself soooooo many times. =P

After a while in the Rabbit Hole we got sick of not having furniture in the living room and Harper bought a giant bean bag. Bekah called it "Daddy's jelly bag bean" and then the "jelly bean bean" before she figured out what it was supposed to be called. =)

Harper had been laid off since April of 2010 and hadn't gone to work for the last 1/4 of Lainey's life... When he started working again, Lainey said "It's like you live at work." =( How sad is that? I think they still feel that way. He doesn't work overtime or anything, but every morning the girls are disappointed that Daddy had to go to work again. Lainey even wrote him a poem recently that was supposed to be for his cubicle that said something about how she loves daddy so much and she hopes he gets laid off so she can see him that much. lol =)

Bekah used to say "ack-shwee" all the time for "actually" and she said it very, very often. =P

We went to a park called High Park and a few days later, Bekah asked to go to "Tall Park." =)

These are from when we first moved into our new house, so Bekah was almost 3 at the time (Sept-Oct 2011).

Bekah would always say "ja" (like a German) for yes. Don't have any idea where she got it. =P

Bekah used to love drawing things for Keller. Just about everything she drew was a present for Keller. It was cute because he didn't really know how to respond to a girl drawing him things and it made him blush. lol

Bekah would play with pieces of paper and run them in the edge of the cabinet or fridge or anywhere she could find and say "Here is a fredit card!"

One day Lainey was looking for her Littlest Pet Shop spider. She said "Where is my spider?!" And Bekah pointed down the stairs to the basement and said "I poured it down there."

I was asking Bekah what starts with B because she knew B was for Bekah. I said "Think of something else that starts with B." She said "Butt." Yay for her very first time thinking of a word that started with a certain letter...

Lainey: Mommy, I'm peepeeing in my pants!!!! (at Walmart, and she was not actually peeing - no idea why she thought she was) =)

Bekah: I need some foodage.

Bekah would pretend to be Link (from Zelda, which the girls were watching Harper play) but forget what her name was. She kept asking "What's my name again?" For a while her play name was "Link Francesco Butterfly." =) She loved Francesco from Cars 2 and spent probably two weeks at one point asking us to call her Francesco. "I'm not Bekah; I'm Francesco!" =P

Okay here are some recent ones...

I went upstairs the other night and found Bekah in my bed. I snuggled up to her and we had this conversation while she was mostly asleep...
Bek: I love you.
Me: I love you, Bek.
Bek: I love you always.
Me: I love you always - and forever and ever and ever.
Bek:  ....Yeah.

lol =)

I took Bekah for a walk on her birthday to take some pictures at the park (she referred to it as "our picture-walk" when she talked to Harper about it). On the way home I said "Bekah, I'm surprised you're four. 'Cause, like, when did you grow up?!" She said "Maybe 8:30? ...20? Maybe? Or 1? ...Maybe? ...Or maybe in the night? I went broooooop and growed up and now I'm four....  I like to be four." =P

Emily asked Bekah the other night if she could have any three things int he world, what they would be. Bekah answered, "Zhu-zhu pets, a swimming pool, and deodorant." Haha!! Em just got deodorant so she wants to be big like her. =)

Titus has all new nicknames, of course. Harper has called him Boudreaux for a while and it has shortened to Boudge. =) I call him Boudgie, too.

Yesterday we were cleaning out our garden and throwing away the dead tomato plants. Bekah said "Momma? Are we going to pack our things and move to another house because our tomatoes died?" lol She is too cute! She has moved too many times in her short little life. I guess when this is the 6th place you've lived in four years you might as well move when your tomatoes die. =P

While I cleaned out the garden, Emily cleaned out her "hideout." There is a landscaped area that is hers, and she pruned out dead stuff and plants with stickers on them and everything. She wants it to look like just plants from the outside, but like a house from the inside. She has a storage area, divided off by a grass curtain (which she made - it's pretty cool) and she has furniture in there (wood boards for seats) and food in her shop/pantry. Different leaves from the yard are different things, like spinach. Some decorative grasses are wheat. She has "sugar" and some other stuff back there in her store. =P

Lainey had a nasty wart that she got just before we went camping in Colorado (Labor Day). Harper has been putting tea tree oil on it daily since we got back and it finally is completely gone. I don't know if that was a slow way to kill a wart, but it worked! Lainey thought it was pretty funny to have a wart and would tease Bekah with it. Bekah told me the other day "I don't even like to say the word 'wart!'" and then today she said "If I say the word 'wart' it makes me wanna turn brown!" Hahaha! I know exactly what she means! =P Bekah got some blisters running around in rain boots (and no socks) and she was really worried that they were going to turn into warts. She asked me a bunch of times how I was sure they were blisters and not warts. =P

Bekah keeps asking me "Momma, what does 'Momma' mean?" And every time I say it means the lady who grew you in her belly. And she still keeps asking. =P

Em has been having fun learning about light and sound in Science and she just finished up her Heat and Energy book. She didn't want to do History the other day (usually she loves it but I must admit it's been a little more dull the last couple of weeks) and she said "Ugh, I don't want to learn about dynasties. Dynasties are boring." LOL

Every week the kids have a job to do. They rotate table (wiping it off after meals), sweeping, and dishes (unloading the dishwasher). So I have their names and their jobs for the week up on the whiteboard and Titus' name is right there with theirs. Sometimes it's "be cute" or "be precious" or "be adorable." Sometimes it is "grow cute teeth" or "smile that adorable smile." This week there are a few things on his list and one is "eat Chinese chicken." lol =P

Antidisestablishmentarianism

Bekah Jane is sitting at the table saying "antidisestablishmentarianism" over and over and over. =P She is kind of singing it. lol Lainey was proud of herself for learning to say that word the other day. Emily has been teaching them both. =P

Bekah's little catch phrase right now is "thingamadoodle."  "Momma, where did I put my thingamadoodle?" "What is that thingamadoodle?"

We got 60 pounds of organic apples and 38 pounds of organic oranges the other day. Bekah is sooooo happy about all of the oranges. I have canned some applesauce and apple pie filling and made an apple crisp that I want to eat more of. =)

Titus is getting to be a fast crawler. He makes such cute sounds. He's started flipping his lip to make silly sounds, too. =P

The girls had a great night at archery last night. I think it's so cool that we have the chance to do that. Emily wants to save up for a compound bow. =) Too bad we couldn't use it here.

Lainey is into Dick and Jane now and I love seeing her on the couch with her nose in a book. =) She and Emily have reading dates sometimes. =)

I sanded down Bekah's old high chair and painted it black with red lettering (was brown with pink). I put a crotch strap and buckle on it. I made it when Bekah was two, so I didn't bother with buckles. But I made them all easy (for me) to remove and wash. It looks way better than it did before and Titus loves his new chair. Kind of sad to be putting the bouncy seat away again. =P He is so big!

Oh, all the buckles for his high chair were harvested off of our baby backpack. When we went camping in Colorado, we put Titus in it and some of the straps broke right off. All of the red webbing was super easy to rip. So when we got home, we called Kelty to see if there was anything we could do. They actually sent us a brand new baby backpack for free! We just had to cut the straps off the old one and take a picture. The new one is even better than the one we had and Titus has enjoyed going for a ride on Daddy's back when we walk around the neighborhood. =)

The girls and I made a couple of pumpkin pies the other day. One was supposed to be for our neighbors, but they are out of town, so we ate them both. =P I love that Emily likes to make tortillas and pie crusts. =)

Corn and Oranges =)

Bekah absolutely loves corn on the cob. She asks for it every time we go to the store. It is the new "bascaragus." =) She also loves oranges and asks for oranges every time we go to the store, and pretty much every day. I just put in my Azure order and got 38 pounds of oranges. Ha! She is going to be ecstatic. I will definitely have to get a picture of her with 75 oranges. =)

We had corn the other night, and Emily flipped out and threw her corn and said there was a worm in it. Harper was like oh come on Emily there is not a worm in your corn. He picked up the corn and there was a nasty big worm. Not a little guy. lol I don't know when she will want to eat corn again. It was not cute. =P

Titus is making such cute little sounds. He loves to stand up in his crib and he pulls up on everything. We have these potty seats that have toddler seats stuck to the lid with a magnet, so you can pull them down and use them and then when you close the potty, the toddler seat sticks to the lid again. Well when I take Titus potty, I hold him backwards on the pot and he has discovered the little potty seat and now he tries to grab it and remove it from the lid when I take him potty. Agh! I've been trying to get him used to sitting on it and going potty the normal way, but he's yet to do it. He almost has a tooth. It is so very very close, but not through yet.

I finally finished Titus' baby quilt tonight. I am also finally painting the main floor of our house. It's slow going with a bunch of kids. =) I don't want everything to be all messed up for days, because I'm doing many coats of trim paint, too. So I pulled out the piano and did the trim behind it, and then pushed it back in, and then did the trim behind the couch and pushed it back in, etc. It's not at all efficient as far as painting goes, but it keeps it from being a disaster.

Ti Guy is crying for his late-night milk. =) Later!

Camping, Growing, Etc

We went to Colorado the week after Labor Day and had a fun time camping. We went to Pueblo the first day and saw my aunt and uncle and cousins and stayed with my parents. Then the next day, we drove out to the campground, just past Buena Vista. We stayed there for two nights and then drove up to Frisco to the condo. We went swimming at the condo in the hot tub and the "cold tub" (according to Bekah) and slept in real beds. =) Then we went to Greeley the next day and saw Harper's family, spent the night there, and came home. It was a fun trip. Our campsite was right along the Arkansas River and it was too late to go rafting, but we blew up Titus' pool toy and the girls rafted down the river in that until it popped. =)

Bekah told me her penguin's name is "Pinga Love Precocious." Super cute.

Oh, when we got home from camping, Emily was supposed to be in the City Spelling Bee. She was super excited and already knew most of the 8th grade words. I asked her how she knew how to spell pompadour and she said the girls do their hair that way in Anne of Avonlea when they visit Diana's aunt. Ha! =P Too funny. Well I had a major Mom Fail and I thought the spelling bee was Saturday night. We got there and nobody was there... I checked my email and it had already happened on Friday night. Ugggggggh. How rotten is that? She forgave me and got over it pretty quickly, but it was still a bummer. I felt awful.

We had a spontaneous birthday party for Lainey on the 9th at High Park with the Blanchettes, Taverners, and Nellie and Brandon. =) And Tatum's sister Tova and her kids, too. It was fun. Titus pulled up for the first time that day! He is pulling up and crawling and just being so big and cute.

Em came and told me earlier today that Lainey was in Titus' room crying. I asked if she knew why and she said Lainey told her that Titus was just getting big too fast. Harper and I went up there and she told him the same thing. She is sad that he is getting big and crawling because he's not going to be a baby anymore. I told her I have cried about the same thing, and I remember when either she or Bekah outgrew the 3 month clothes and I cried about that, but now they are big and I like having them big, too. =) We told her it will be fun to ride bikes with him someday and how sometime pretty soon he will start saying her name and maybe he will call her Nay-Nay like Bekah did or Yaina, like Emily did. =)

The other day, Echo and I canned peach and blueberry jam and a bunch of beans and the kids all played together all afternoon. When we were putting them to bed, I was telling Harper how good they had all been and that they all played together so well. Then Emily was like "No, not REALLY! Do you want to hear what Lainey did?" Her tone got nasty. "SHE hit me in the SHOVEL with a HEAD!!!" lol And then we all totally cracked up.
