Yay Again! =)
The Bourciers are coming next weekend! =) Well it's not 100% official, but I think 99%. =) Janet's at Bible study but I talked to Gracie for a half an hour tonight. Yay! =)
On My List
We have been watching documentaries a bunch lately. Here are 2 I want to see:
Ben Stein's Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed (about intelligent design and free speech)
Demographic Winter (about the decline of the family and birthrates and the implications)

Oops!
Whoa! I just bought a couple of books from London and used PayPal. I didn't realize 25 pounds is now over 50 bucks! That's nuts! Hmm now I have to tell Harper about this, lol... =P
Free Chips
Have you tried Flat Earth Chips? We impulse bought a tiny bag of them for 25 cents a while ago and they were yummy. So I saw on their site (yeah click that link) that they have a coupon that you can print twice for a free (big!) bag of their chips. We never buy snack food unless it's for guests or a potluck-style thing, so when we got these home, we ate both bags, lol. =P
Yay!
So far, Em's been doing great! I have had her resting almost all day. She really wanted to help me clean the bathrooms before her nap, so I let her do that with me. But no fever and she seems to be okay! She still has the cough that's lingering from sickness 1.0, but I'm thinkin' Texas isn't going to be a problem! Whew!
Off to rotate laundry!
Off to rotate laundry!
Sick Chick 2.0
So we are still coughing occasionally from that thing from 3 weeks ago and Lainey still has a runny nose. But Emily has something else now. =(
Yesterday morning, she came in crying that her legs hurt. I didn't remember that until Harp pointed it out way later. She also said her ear hurt. But then she was fine all morning and was an absolutely phenomenal helper to me as I got ready for Jordan to come. (BTW having her own vacuum has entirely cured the vacuum fear - awesome!) Then we had naps and I woke her up when I got up. She hasn't been tired at night, so I decided to start getting her up with me instead of letting her have her 2-3 hour nap. Well she was very hard to wake up but then she was okay. We had some tea together because she was chilly. When Harp came home around 3:30 he said he thought she was hot. I couldn't really tell. So he took her temp and it was 103! She just seemed worse and worse. She said her tummy hurt like it was being poked. After a little while, she could hardly stay awake. Her eyes were rolling around when she opened her eyes for seconds at a time. Poor chick! She had some nasty diarrhea and then seemed to get a lot better, but then freaked out when I left for ladies' study. She was acting really weird. Harp heard her yell "No, no no!!!" in her room and when he went to see what was up, it was that she was turned around in her bed and didn't want her feet toward the headboard. She had already turned herself back around, but just weird that she freaked about it. And when I came home and went in to see her, she wasn't glad to be disturbed. Usually she is sleepy but uber-happy to see me. She just wanted to be left alone. =( This morning, no fever and she seems fine. But I'm having her rest all day anyway because we still want to go to Texas and if she's really sick, I think just Harp will go. But he might stay too just in case I get sick. I am wearing a mask today. Influenza has been making its way around our church and Harp's dad said it's worse when you're pregnant. Eew! Well I'm gonna go rest, too. Later!

Motherhood Maternity
Random & Bed, Bath, & Beyond
At Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I took my camera all over with me this day because I didn't want to leave it in the car and I was in Wichita and the sky was pretty so I thought I might stop by a park if it warmed up. It didn't, but I took some pics inside anyway. =) We were waiting for Harp to call me back about what to get Jesh & Lisa... So I started taking pics. People kept asking if we needed help. lol I'm sure we looked funny - Em with four pigtails (her request), one mitten, and a stethoscope and me with a big camera taking pictures in the middle of their store... Hehehe!
Caleb's Birthday
2.25.2008
Woo Hoo!
I can't wait to go to Jesh's wedding. It's going to be SO WARM compared to here!
This morning, the girls and I went to Walmart, then stopped by Atwoods to look at the chickies. =) Then we came home and I made some pesto while the girls went down the slide over and over (I brought the portable slide in the house yesterday for fun and it's in the kitchen). Then we ate an early lunch and headed out for a cookie bookie. It was just us and Alyssa and Hannah and we had a fun time. Then we played on the school playground and I took some pics. It was pretty nice out, but I think it's gotten colder since we got home. Then home for naps and the girls are still sleeping.
Yesterday I went through all the 2T clothes and hung them up and took out a lot of 18 month clothes from Lainey's closet. Almost all except the ones the girls have that match or coordinate.
I made sure the girls' Christmas dresses still fit for Jesh's wedding. They are so excited to wear them. =) We borrowed some shoes from Hannah because Lainey outgrew her black dress shoes. We don't really dress up for church meeting, so I hadn't even thought about the shoes until last night.
All of the girls are still coughing when we wake up and occasionally during the day. Harp usually gets sicker than we do but this time it was totally backwards. I can't believe he is just fine!
Jordan Gassie might go with us to Texas, which is exciting. He lives in Topeka now and we hardly ever see him. If he can't go with us (depends on how many vacation days he can take from work) then he'll go down the next day so either way we'll see him.
Emmy is SO excited to see Lisa's "pretty white dress" to get married in. =) I think this is the first wedding Em will remember going to. I don't think we've been to once since the once we videoed when we first moved here 2 years ago. Crazy! And I know Em will be SO excited when she sees Daddy in a tux. =) I can see her little eyes getting big and the huge smile on her face. She loved it when he just wore a suit to the symphony. =)
Randomness: Lainey calls a spoon a "boom." A fork is also a boom most of the time, but sometimes she does say something like fork. Yesterday at the potluck, Lainey was sitting on Deanna's lap and Deanna had some broccoli on her plate. Lainey pointed at it and said broccoli (I can't remember how she said it) and Deanna thought that was wild. Lainey was so proud of herself and giggled and pointed and said broccoli 20 more times and laughed every time. =P She knows when she's funny. =P

Finding Out & What I Want
Hey! So I never blogged about finding out I was pregnant and recently I have been scrapbooking things that happened shortly after Lainey was born. I have been reading my blog and remembering all these sweet things that I had forgotten. So I will probably forget this too (and everything else in life) if I don't blog it. =) And don't you all want to know anyway?
So it was Wed, Feb 6th... Which I remember because it was Caleb's birthday. Oh I need to blog that too and whoa I haven't even put those pics on the computer yet.... Maybe you'll have pics later....
Anyway Harp came home at 4:45 and I had girls' group at 6:30 at the Wisners'. We were all just playing in the living room and I mentioned that it had been 14 days since the day I ovulated and hmm maybe I could be pregnant because I didn't feel like anything was gonna happen (sorry guys) . ;) So I didn't want an audience in the bathroom, but I didn't want to ditch the girls. Harp has this thing about being there to watch the line appear (or not appear as the case may be). He has to be there. So I said okay well what if I go up and start it but then don't look and then I come down and play with the girls while you go up and see if there is a line. He agreed to that. So as soon as I went down, he ran up and looked. No line. So I said okay. I went into the kitchen and started to make some coffee and I don't really remember what Harp said to me but I said that I was a little surprised that I wasn't pregnant, but that was okay, I wasn't upset about it or anything. He said well let me go look again just to be sure. =P So he went up and looked and it had only been 3-5 minutes (the test says up to 10 min) and he said "Hey, Kate? I think I was wrong! There's a line!" So of course I ran up to look and there was! He wasn't 100% convinced because it wasn't dark but I know it doesn't have to be because I asked Harp's dad about it when Ashley was pregnant last year. I was convinced. I ran down the hall and jumped at the end of the stairs and kinda yelled/screamed with excitement. =P Emily looked at me funny and said "Why did you do that, Momma?" Harp hadn't said if we were going to tell them yet (and he wasn't convinced still so he didn't want to get her hopes up)... So I took her into our room and convinced Harper I was pregnant, lol, and he said I could tell her. So I told her there was a baby in my belly and she just looked at me like I was playing a mean joke on her. Like I was teasing her. I told her no, I was serious! And she was SO excited! So I think I already blogged about her telling everyone on the phone and her saying she was "all giddy about it" and calling it Rice Baby... =) Harper wasn't excited or unexcited. He said maybe because it's #3, he's just like okay, baby on the way, done that twice, that's cool... =P
And ya know what I want? Twin boys. Harp does too. Big time. I know the chances are slim, but I want them!!

Lainey is 18 Months Old
=) I can't believe she is so big. I thought I'd do a post about what she's like at 18 months. =P
She is kind of a tomboy, but less and less so... She is brave at the playground, but she doesn't like to be dirty. One of her favorite words is "dirty." One day, we were in the garage cleaning and she lost a shoe. Her sock got really nasty and she wanted it off because it was dirty. =P Another day, I had left a bunch of ground beef on the floor (she dumped her plate and it's easier to clean up dry) and she went to the edge of the living room, pointed in the kitchen and fussed that it was dirty. Then she scooted around the half-wall, staying as close as she could to the wall until she could climb up on the bench and not step on any of the meat. =P She is a little Miss Priss. =P
She is having a major growth spurt. She eats as much as Harp or I do (sometimes more). After dinner, her tummy is as tight as a basketball. =P She actually likes peanut butter now and she can eat chocolate without getting upset in the middle of the night.
Meat is "meap" or "meam," water is "ba-pee" (the old version, but still used when she's tired) or "wa-wee." She loves to brush her teeth. She says "brush teese!" =P She loves to try to go potty and last week when we were all sick, she went #1 and #2. I haven't been taking her very much, but I am trying to a little more often. It's too chilly for me to want to do "real" potty training.
It is so cute how she plays with Em. She pretty much answers Emily's questions with yes or no until they have established what they are playing. ("Do you want to be Tigger, Lainey?" "Do you want to be Pooh?" "Are we going to the zoo?") She does anything Emily tells her to do when we pretend stuff. We will "drive" somewhere and Em will tell Lainey to sit down and put her seatbelt on and she will. She loves Em and wants to do everything she does. She even pretended to puke in the potty after Em puked a couple weeks ago... =P
She is a climber. She wants to stand on anything she sees (including toys and books - we're workin' on that). She always wants her mouth and hands full of food. She says "chies, chies!" for munchies, which is what she says when she's hungry. =) Which is all the time. =) She likes to point out balls and sees them in everything. =)
If you ask for a kiss, it's not often that she'll give one, unless it's some funny kind of kiss (upside down or between the bars of her crib). But if you're not lookin' for one, she'll just come kiss you. =P She just randomly climbs in your lap or snuggles up to you. It is soooo nice to have such a cuddly girl!
She will go to anybody. Today we were at a housewarming party and she wanted people to hold her that we didn't even know! She's not quite as partial to men anymore, but she does still love Dave. =)
Whoa it's later than I thought... Later!

Mommyness
Last night, my poor Emmy was coughing and coughing and coughing. =( It was probably 2:55 when she came in and woke us up and asked us for some medicine. Harp gave her some and she went back to bed but I heard her coughing nonstop for 5 mintues. So I went in to just snuggle her sitting up some to see if it would help. After maybe 10 seconds I decided we'd go down and make some tea and maybe that would help until the medicine kicked in. So we had a 3am Emmy and Mommy tea date in the kitchen. It took a while to make the tea and then drink it so it was 3:30 by the time we were done. We had a fun time just talking about everything Emmy could think of to talk about. =) Then I snuggled her on the couch kind of upright and she did better and we both fell asleep after, again, talking about everything Emmy could think about. =P One of the funniest random things was "Mommy, did you know Nemo's daddy is a clownfish?" =P After a while, I told her we had to be quiet and get some sleep and she obeyed. It was a really sweet time with her. =)
The other day, I went to get the girls because I heard them up from their nap. I stopped and listened to what they were doing and Em said "Lainey, that's no suck. Say 'Yes, Emmy'?" telling her not to suck her finger. I went in and asked if she was trying to be Lainey's boss. She said no she was pretending she was "Lainey's mommy, but without the boss." lol =)
Em has started working on the l sound. She sings the doxology all the time and a couple of days ago she was singing "Pwaise God all cweatures here beLow" over and over, just practicing saying below. =) She was also practicing saying up-side-down (it was eipsatown) over and over. So cute!
Em and Harp made soy yogurt the other day and it's almost all gone. It is soooooo good. And so much better than the store soy yogurt. We have been adding vanilla and concentrated apple juice (right from the can) and mmmmm it's good.
I went vitamin/supplement/whatever shopping today and got stuff that I should be taking (iron so I hopefully don't have issues this time, baby Aspirin so I don't get a blood clot, Butcher's Broom for my veins - something Nancy uses every day and says it really works). Yay! I'm starting to actually remember that I'm pregnant and it's fun! =)
lol After dinner tonight, my belly was a little poochy and Em was SO excited for it too look like I was a little pregnant. =)

Depressed Baby

Yesterday, Em told me "I'm the doctor and Lainey's the nurse!" I asked Lainey "Oh are you the nurse, Laina?" She said yeah and looked down at her monkey jammies and found an eyeball and pointed to it. I cracked up because I knew what she was thinking. I asked if she thought those were for nursing and she said yeah. I told her they were the monkey's eyes and she just cried.
=)
We had a blast today playing Hide and Seek in the dark. It is much harder in the dark, lol. Lainey had fun, too. She would just go with whomever was counting and help them look. =) We played for a looooong time. We had a yummy dinner that Harp made. He has been cooking a lot lately. He likes to come home and cook after work to wind down. =P I love it! Tonight, the girls and I painted Big Sister shirts for them while Harp cooked. Anyway now we're going to see if Harp's parents want to video-call over Skype and then we'll play with glow sticks (maybe at the same time, even) and then girls will go to bed. Okay gotta go call. Later!
Hehe, Haha!
I can eat stilton! Harp's dad said it's just fear mongering. If it's made with pasteurized milk, it's not gonna hurt anything. Yippee! And he said in 22 years in an agricultural area he has never seen a case of listeria.
He's gonna read the details of the caffeine study, but he did say the concern was before 12 weeks... So even if it's for real, only 6.5 weeks to go. =P
Last night, Lainey and I moped on the couch together. That poor girl is missin' her Mommy's milk (although there has only been one day that she hasn't had it at all - I have been giving in once a day because she's sick and so sad about it) and missin' her sucking finger. She got this nasty blister from it and it busted open and it's just way too gross so we are putting a Band-Aid on it and (hopefully) ending the sucking. Em has funky bumps (not just the callous) on her thumb too so we're keeping a Band-Aid on it, too. So far, so good, but Lainey screams for 20 minutes before she falls asleep without her finger.
Lainey has been so cute asking for milk. She'll come up and hug me and kiss me and then point down my shirt, lol. She tries to butter me up, hehehe! She is still sweet when I say no so I don't think she is faking sweetness to manipulate but I think she knows I think it's cute. =)
Last night while I was moping with Lainey I remembered Dana's post about hormones and weaning. Aha! Well hopefully it doesn't last too long. I actually feel better today. Maybe part of it is knowing I can go chow on that stilton. =)

Poo
We have a significant chunk of stilton in the fridge and I can't eat it. =( I have to sit and watch Harper enjoy it. I had some last night, too, before we remembered that you're not supposed to eat it when you're pregnant. That only makes it worse because it's so fresh in my mind how delicious it is. Brie is on the list of no-go cheeses, too. My favorite. =(
AND Harp's mom told him last night that there was a recent study (like they read this 2-3 weeks ago he said) linking caffeine to miscarriage. UGH! Just rip everything wonderful out of my hands, why don'tcha? His dad will be receiving an interrogation about this study... I'm not gonna give it up that easily. Maybe they were drinking 6 cups a day. My one half-caf a day could be okay, right? I haven't had any since Harp told me, though. Oh well. I don't need the gob of sugar I put in it, anyway.

Sick
So we're still sick. Harp stayed home from work yesterday, but went today. He didn't get this very bad! For a good chunk of yesterday, I couldn't even talk. Right now, I'm feeling better except for my throat. And not 100% energetic, but much better than yesterday or the day before. I actually cleaned today.
Anyway here are some random things:
Lainey ate all the blueberries out of her oatmeal yesterday morning and said "balls? balls?" Hehe, she wanted more blueberries. =P She is really into pointing out ball shapes. I was just cooking some peas and she called them balls, too. =)
Emily has never been able to remember that VBS is VBS. She calls it View-BS. =) We still listen to the CD from last year's VBS all the time. I can't wait for VBS this year, lol. I should read what I blogged about doing it last year because I vaguely remember saying I don't want to do this again, lol. It will be much easier this year, I'm sure, without a very little one.
The other night when we were all sick, Harp said he was pukey and I said me too and Em said me too.. And then she started singing "Do you feel pukey, too? Do you feel pukey, too? Hi-ho the dairy-o, Do you feel pukey, too?" Hahaha! She is such an Abbot. =) It totally cracked us up because it's something we would sing...
Emily still tells me Happy 'Gratulations 4-5 times a day. It melts me every time. It's soooo sweet! The other day she asked why people say "Happy 'Gratulations" when someone has a baby in their belly. I just said because they are excited for them - I didn't tell her it wasn't "Happy 'Gratulations!" I like it too much and I don't want it to stop. =P
Today Harp came home from work and told me this girl that is leaving gave everyone a desk calendar as a going away present. One of the guys got one that's like a bathroom reader (random trivia) and he was reading though up until today. He read one to everyone: What is the thing called that makes the two lines between your nose and your mouth? Harper answered right away (philtrum) and everyone thought it was crazy that he actually knew it. He said "even my daughter knows that! Where's your antecubital fossa?" I laughed so hard for so long. Those are parts that Harp's parents taught Emily. =P (Your antecubital fossa is your elbow pit.)
Okay dinner is ready. Blog ya later!

Some Pages

I got all this paper except the white background at the scrapbook store in Andover. They have a scrap swap and I took a ton of stuff over the other day. The blue is the textured bling cardstock and the patterned paper has a shimmer to it, too. Very cute. And I'm lovin' the teeny Doodlebug rub-on alphabet. =)

Stuff
Hey! Last night I got 8 pages scrapped and if I remember right I actually like them all. Well one 2-page spread is pretty plain so I might find some flowers or something for it, but I'm still happy to have it kinda done. =P I realized last night that my goal of having my scrapbook caught up by the time I have this baby is really ridiculous. Maybe not, but probably. If I really want to when I'm big and fat, maybe I'll call a scrappin' party for myself. Like... a scrapbook baby shower, lol. And ask all my friends to help catch me up. ;) I'll just have to figure out what friends would actually like to do that and what ones would be like wow that's rude but do it anyway, haha! No it probably wouldn't really work anyway because it would still take me forever to organize journaling or titles for pictures. Oh well.
Today was a clothing exchange. I only got 2 things: a pair of loungin' pants I didn't really need but I'll pitch a pair that I have that's junky. And an Elmo shirt for Emily to sleep in. =P It was Shauna's so it's small but still big for Em.
Gonna scan some layouts. Anyone have good tips for this? I am joining 2 images. I'm playing around seeing if they turn out better if I don't close the lid... Tell me what you do if you scan them, okay?

Em
Em asked me yesterday what a gentleman was. I told her it was a man that took care of his ladies, like how Daddy drops us off by the door at the store if it is snowing. She asked me if Daddy was a gentleman when we were in the Jetta. I asked what she meant and she asked if he was a gentleman when we got in the car wreck. She thinks so much! (I told her it was an accident and he was still a gentleman even though she got hurt.) =)
Pretty Angel
This morning, Em put a necklace on Lainey and said "Lainey you are a pretty angel, so this will make you prettier." =)
Rice Baby
Last night, we were telling Em how the baby in my belly is the size of a piece of rice right now. She thought that was SO cute and we have all started calling him "Rice Baby." Emily told me this morning that she thinks when it's big, she'll still call it"Rice Baby." =) Harp and I keep calling it a him but Emily wants it to be a girl so she usually says "it." =)

Here's The Deal
Hehe! This morning Em was trying to help Lainey get some panties on. She said "Lainey, here's the deal: You need to get your feet into the right holes. And if you don't know which one it is, just let me know." =P Hehe, it was so cute and so sweet.
To Be Posted Later
Okay you will read this sometime in the future after I tell some more people, but... I'm pregnant! We found out last night. Em called my parents and my sister and Harp's mom. She also called Caleb and Hannah to tell them. =) At girls' groups, I gave them a little contest for the first brownie (I didn't have time to come up with a prize). The first girl to quote Ps 127:3 won. It was CK and she read it and I was like what does it mean? She didn't get it. =P So I had to say it. When I told them I was pregnant, CK came and hugged me and then alllll the other girls joined and I got dogpiled. =P
Em kept my secret throughout the study part of girls' group and while the girls were all just talking before. I was proud of her for being able to keep it a secret. She is so excited. When she told my parents she said "I'm all giddy about it!" =P What a cutie.
Em asked me last night "Mommy, could you let it be a girl, please, Mommy?" =)

Emmy-O
Last night was girls' group and I took Em. When it was time for snacks, I grabbed her a couple bite-sized brownies and I was waiting to get her some ice cream. Well the girls took all the ice cream so CK and Em and I didn't get any. Em asked me for some and I told her quietly that there wasn't any left and we were just going to have brownies. She asked me why there wasn't ice cream and I told her there just wasn't any left. She asked me why they took it all, with tears in her eyes. I asked if she wanted to go in the other room with me and she nodded, trying not to cry. We went and snuggled in Jeff's chair and she was just so sad about it. I think it wasn't so much about not getting to eat ice cream as it was that the girls weren't being considerate. She asked again why they took it all. I told her they were just thinking of themselves and not thinking of others and that really they should have made sure that everyone got some but they didn't and we needed to love them anyway even though it was sad. And I pointed out that sometimes Lainey feels that way because of things Emily does that aren't considerate toward her. She has been majorly loving on her sister today. It's really sweet. Even though it stunk, I think it was good for her to have that happen so she could see how selfishness hurts people. Because she had such a good attitude about it and was playing sweetly with the girls later last night like nothing had ever happened, we grabbed some Sonic fries and chicken on the way home and got an apple juice slush. Then I let her have chocolate milk before bed (that's a treat as good as ice cream in our house). =)

Random Things
Em and I have this thing when we're going to go up to the bathroom... We pretend we are a guest and ask where the bathroom is and then the other one says "Up the stairs, first door on the left." =P It's silly, but hey, someday someone will come over and she'll be able to tell them where the bathroom is, lol.
Lainey likes to say "maaaa" with a growly voice when she's playing with toys. Usually with two toys - that is how the toys interact. =P
Yesterday, Lainey pooped on the potty! I was going to give her a bath and I asked if she wanted to go potty first. She said yes so I put her on and she pooped! My big girl! She was SO proud of herself.
Laine always wants to be big like Emmy. Yesterday I was braiding Em's pigtails and the whole time Lainey was showing me with her hair that she wanted it in pigtails and running between me and the basket of hair things until I was done with Em's. So Lainey got braided pigtails, too. =)

Random Page

I just felt like posting a random page. I did this a couple nights ago. Actually I made the paper last week because Lainey was super tired one morning and I gave her a nap, so Emmy and I took the opportunity to stamp, little-sister-free. Em ended up making Quin a birthday card and not stamping at all, but I went wild and stamped this whole page. I got the flowers at SuperTarget in the $pot. (Don't print your pictures there - they are really junky. But I had two coupons for 20 free prints so I used them. Maybe if I had more coupons for free prints, I'd print them there, but really they are on thin, thin paper and they all had a white line across the top. They didn't cut them right.) Okay going to bed!
MIM Challenge #3
Finally! This is the best I could do scanning and editing this silly thing. The black around the outside really is all even, but I'm done messing with it. Here is my lace page:

The picture and the journaling block are raised with the small pop dots (1/16") so the shadow is kinda funky on the picture.

Today
Today was SO NICE out! I left a disgustingly messy house to go to the park and enjoy the weather. Tomorrow I hear it's supposed to rain freezing rain. Eew! We didn't even wear jackets today it was so nice. We walked around the park for a long time, eating a Butterfinger ice cream from Sonic. Then played at the playground for a while before we came home and cleaned a good portion of the garage. Nice!
